Does anybody with an unlimited data plan know how upgrading to 6S/6S+ through AT&T will affect that?

I preordered the 6S on Saturday at 3am EDT on my computer and went through the whole process but it never asked me to select or change my data plan, and there was nothing about data plan on the order summary. Shortly after ordering the 6S I decided that I’d probably rather have the 6S+, so on Sunday morning I canceled my 6S preorder and I preordered the 6S+, but did it on my phone from AT&T’s mobile website this time. Again, didn’t ask me to pick a data plan or to change the one I currently have, and the order confirmation didn't have anything about data plan - it only had a line about my voice plan. However, after I ordered the 6S+ from AT&T’s mobile website, I got a screen the end of ordering with my order number and a message that stated "All of your devices will be converted to your new Mobile Share Value plan within 48 hours after your pre-order device has shipped." So of course I freaked out because I didn't select and do not want a mobile share value plan; I average about 30 GB data per month on just my line and would have an outrageous phone bill if I switched to a capped plan. So I called AT&T and talked to a rep and she assured me that my entire plan, including data, would stay the same.

But now I’m starting to wonder if what the rep said is true. She told me that the mobile share thing is just a generic message that everyone sees, and I hope she’s right. I also feel like I’ve read various posts from people who said they ordered from Apple and avoided ordering from AT&T in the past because they wanted to keep their unlimited data plan. I definitely would have ordered from Apple instead this year because they are much more organized and efficient when it comes to preorders, but AT&T is getting strict about 2 year contract subsidies and has recently made it so that you can only get the 2 year contract subsidy through them.

TL/DR Version:

Will I lose my unlimited data plan since I upgraded with another 2 year contract from AT&T to preorder the 6S+? I’ve never had a problem with upgrades before but this time got a message at the end of my order that said "All of your devices will be converted to your new Mobile Share Value plan within 48 hours after your pre-order device has shipped." I didn’t select and do not want a mobile share value plan, so now I’m worried. Did any other unlimited data plan customers have the same experience?

I haven't gone back to read to see if this was posted here yet so forgive me if it was, but did you guys see this from another thread?

I work for AT&T...Just to let you all know...the only phone that is back ordered is the iPhone 6S+ Rose Gold. Every other phone is still giving September 25th delivery date. Now, as for ATT NEXT, we are making money, we are moving away from two year contract because it is costing us money and it is costing the consumer more money as well. The reason the two year agrement is more expensive for most users is because that is the only way we can make money back on the phone.

I have proof of iPhone shiping times however, I don't think I am allowed to post it...but so far, i am seeing that the iPhone Rose Gold Options are the only ones back ordered until October."

You won't lose your unlimited data. On your order confirmation it should show that nothing has changed. At least it did on mine.

You should be okay. I'm on a specialized plan myself (not an unlimited plan; it's a text accessibility plan, because i'm deaf), and was told by several reps that moving to NEXT won't affect my plan; it's just a phone payment program. Sure enough, when pre-ordering today, I saw a chart showing NEXT, but there was nothing said about my plan, etc. being changed.

I'm sure you (and all unlimited data customers, you lucky lot :) haha) will be fine!

Thanks. I started a pre-order with Apple but did not go far enough to get those numbers as they wanted to charge me a 15.00 upgrade/activation fee. Which being on Next pre 1 August 2015, I do not owe. nd don't want any hassle on removing it. I want the 128gb Plus. Where did you cross reference that?

Seeing the talk about long lines at either store, and just having a hip replacement, I may pre-order ATT. Will see if they show the 15.00. Not sure which company will get it to me faster at this point.

Tried ATT. Ship is now 27 Oct-3Nov. And it did not show pic of my phone on order screen. It showed 16gb and wrong color. Not even sure if that pic is suppose to be accurate.

Upgrade Your Current Device
To upgrade to the device you selected, you can either trade in your current device or pay off your current installment plan.

Apple
iPhone 6 Plus 16GB A1522 Silver

Actually correct iPhone shows on next order page, but shows that iPhone above as my trade-in which is incorrect.

I had the same thing happen to me and I called today. I was told the IMEI number is linked to your account and device and not to worry about the picture. As long as the IMEI number matches what you return there is no issue.

Just received my order confirmation this morning, for the order I placed at 12:06am on launch day. *sigh*

I ordered the same as you. Mine has the exact estimated ship date. Does that mean that's when it leaves the facility or does it mean when it arrives at your house??

Got my order in about 3 minutes before midnight. Technically it was 1:57 am central time. Pretty easy process. Well done AT&T. Used the iPhone app.

Order Status: Preparing to ship

Estimated Ship Dates: September 24, 2015 - September 24, 2015

6s Plus 128GB Silver

Just got the "order has been processed" text message and order confirmation email about an hour ago. Had a $1 temporary authorization on the credit card after ordering. Now t's a temporary authorization for the full amount.

I complained to AT&T yesterday about the shipment date, and they refunded the amount I paid in tax in a form of credit for my next bill. Saved me a good $60. :) Makes me feel a little better about the October shipment date.

I am still getting in process and ordered it at 12:10 am on Friday night. I would love to see it move to preparing for shipment

Mine says preparing to ship.
Estimated ship dates: September 24, 2015-September 15, 2015

Does that mean it will be at my house on the 24th or that it will leave the facility on the 24th?

WARNING- For iPhone Apple Store app (Not PC/Mac web) purchases of No Contract AT&T iPhone 6S

Seems that using an iPhone and the Apple Store App to purchase an Iphone 6S as a full price, no contract option, the programmer either incompetently or with an agenda, left out the option to select AT&T as the intended carrier the buyer will use. One ONLY sees an unlabeled rectangular box with the T-Mobile logo in the section that seems associated with the selection of Apple Care. When you tap on this logo it changes to the word NONE. Not understanding what model either of these selections would grant me, I bought a phone using both options to only find the next morning (Sept 12) validated by Apple Support, that I had bought 2 of the same model phone and that model was the A1687, which, of course, is not optimized for AT&T use. The support person walked thru the ordering process and noted the same error. How is this possible, no testing before making available to the world. I could only cancel my 2 orders of the wrong phone and go to the end of the line to again, order the right phone but this time use the PC web interface. They could not simply change my incorrect model to the right model, especially when the fault was ENTIRELY theirs. Fortunately, the silver 128GB was still indicating delivery of Sept 25 after I reordered from my PC 10hrs after my midnight order.

Only blogging this so another end user isn't tortured to the degree I was. BTW: the correct model for AT&T is the A1633.

Oddly, after reporting this directly to Supervisor at Apple on Saturday, Sept 12th, it is still not corrected as of 9/14. How many people are ending up with the wrong phone?

Haha, no ripped movies to put on my iPhone. (Got a Kindle for that.) I'm not a heavy user, really... I don't even do any music - I'm deaf. What I mostly use my iPhone for: taking photos/videos, facetime, texting, Facebook, Internet browsing, playing some games, and checking email. That's pretty much it. I've always bought the mid-tier size. I would hate to pay ~$5 more per month for wasted space, you know?

Gotcha--Enjoy your new iPhone--:)

I ordered mine late last night and my estimated date says launch day still...128GB Space Grey 6s. Not holding my breath or expecting to receive it then, but if so, that would be super impressive and awesome!

It'll ship on the 24th for an overnight delivery on the 25th. That's just an estimate so things could change but I think you're good for a launch day delivery.
