I think with AT&T's systems it says back-ordered by default in the beginning. You don't technically have a phone yet. A phone is delivered from China to AT&T (in a box with several others), unpacked and then it's assigned to a customer and shipped. AT&T probably doesn't even have any phones at this point.

I don't know if this is current, but it's the UPS planes that leave Shenzhen headed for staging in the U.S. Considering that next week is launch, these could be the phones that will get delivered that day.

Thanks, it changed to In Progress--

Will my ATT preorder 6s+ come with a sim card. Or, do I

use existing

go to store and get one
Yes.. It will already have a Sim card inside. When you go through the activation process it will ask you if you want to activate it to the number on your account you used to upgrade. Very easy process. And even if the activation process on the screen fails for some reason all you need to do is take your Sim card out of your current phone and put it in that one - that is, if the current phone you have also has a nano Sim and is from AT&T.

If however you upgraded using a different line on your account for the upgrade. You want to make sure that you don't activate using that phone number. Or your other family member's phone will stop working immediately. in that case you'll want to do the Sim card swap thing I just mentioned.

Thank you for this info--confirms what I thought I needed to do. I've never attempted a SIM card swap on my own.

It's easy enough I take it?

I'm pretty sure I read on Apple site the nano SIM card from our 6 won't work in the 6s/plus.
It will. They haven't changed SIM technology in quite a while. It'll work. If you have a link to a specific statement from Apple saying otherwise.. please post here.

This is what mine has said for a few days now.

Thank you for placing your order with us.
Estimated ship dates:
September 24, 2015 - September 24, 2015

When I text to check the status it changes to "in progress". They mean the same according to a rep I spoke with yesterday. I just can't wait to start tracking it when it ships.

If I click on the "Check My Order" button in the email it says "in progress", but if I log in to my account and go to My orders, it says "Preparing to Ship".

It will work, the statement on the specification page that they were thinking of states that it will not work with existing micro-SIMs. A nano-SIM should swap no problem.

Good News Everyone!
(Regarding Upgrade Dates)

I just chatted with a Rep about upgrade dates:

AT&T : The contract on your number started this month. :) I can assure you of that. Would you like me to show you online?

Me : oh yes please! Another chat rep told me that the contract didn't start until it shipped!

AT&T : Thank you for waiting.

AT&T : I can understand what you mean. I am sorry about that.

Please make sure the myAT&T tab is selected on the orange bar at the very top of the page.

Directly beneath it should be a white bar, please hover your mouse over Profile, under the My Profile column, please click on Update my profile.

AT&T : On the Profile page, there should be three tabs saying Account Information, User Information, and Marketing Preferences.

Please click on the User Information tab and ensure that your upgraded number is selected. Then we can scroll down to see the Contract Information

Me : Great, yes 9/12/17, so full upgrade on this line will happen on that date for sure correct?

Me : and that number will not change/adjust once the phone ships?

AT&T : Yes, correct. :) Glad you are able to validate that

This was the biggest issue for me. Now that I know I will still be able to upgrade to the 7S on time, I feel much better about the whole thing, even if I don't get this phone until a week or 2 later.

I'm glad you checked on this. Thanks for sharing!

thats okay , if i won't get it by launch say i was thinking of canceling it and waiting in line :/

Hold onto your apron strings. I was thinking about going to the AT&T Store on launch day. Then if they had my 128 gb space gray 6s Plus I was going to cancel my order then purchase the one in the store.

The first guy couldn't answer my question about doing this so he checked with another rep who actually had the sheet listing the models they were going to have on launch day. She even showed it to me. It showed all of the 6s models but they were not getting any of the 6s Plus models at all! BTW, this was a corporate store.

So, you might want to check with the AT&T store you are planning on going to. They DO have a list of phones they will be getting. Hope they are nice enough to share it with you, too.

In closing I'll be happy to get my iPhone whenever it's available. :)

Does anybody with an unlimited data plan know how upgrading to 6S/6S+ through AT&T will affect that?

I preordered the 6S on Saturday at 3am EDT on my computer and went through the whole process but it never asked me to select or change my data plan, and there was nothing about data plan on the order summary. Shortly after ordering the 6S I decided that I’d probably rather have the 6S+, so on Sunday morning I canceled my 6S preorder and I preordered the 6S+, but did it on my phone from AT&T’s mobile website this time. Again, didn’t ask me to pick a data plan or to change the one I currently have, and the order confirmation didn't have anything about data plan - it only had a line about my voice plan. However, after I ordered the 6S+ from AT&T’s mobile website, I got a screen the end of ordering with my order number and a message that stated "All of your devices will be converted to your new Mobile Share Value plan within 48 hours after your pre-order device has shipped." So of course I freaked out because I didn't select and do not want a mobile share value plan; I average about 30 GB data per month on just my line and would have an outrageous phone bill if I switched to a capped plan. So I called AT&T and talked to a rep and she assured me that my entire plan, including data, would stay the same.

But now I’m starting to wonder if what the rep said is true. She told me that the mobile share thing is just a generic message that everyone sees, and I hope she’s right. I also feel like I’ve read various posts from people who said they ordered from Apple and avoided ordering from AT&T in the past because they wanted to keep their unlimited data plan. I definitely would have ordered from Apple instead this year because they are much more organized and efficient when it comes to preorders, but AT&T is getting strict about 2 year contract subsidies and has recently made it so that you can only get the 2 year contract subsidy through them.

TL/DR Version:

Will I lose my unlimited data plan since I upgraded with another 2 year contract from AT&T to preorder the 6S+? I’ve never had a problem with upgrades before but this time got a message at the end of my order that said "All of your devices will be converted to your new Mobile Share Value plan within 48 hours after your pre-order device has shipped." I didn’t select and do not want a mobile share value plan, so now I’m worried. Did any other unlimited data plan customers have the same experience?

I upgraded via the mobile app also. At the beginning of the order process I selected "Upgrade" and did not have to select a data plan. My current unlimited data plan was automatically selected. In the order summary it shows the unlimited data (grandfathered) plan.

Which model?

I'm so upset with AT&T. On a chat on their website they told me the release date for them on the plus is October. The regular 6s is 9/25

Yes.. This is exactly like last year! Most of the ATT stores had no Gold 6 Plusses and very few 6 Plusses in other sizes and colors at all. The places people were lucking out were Best Buy, Radio Shack and Target Stores.

How long do you wait if you preorder one on line and reserve appt/pick up in store on 25th. I thought you could pick a time, although all those are probably filled. I have my order in with ATT, so would have to test with another family phone.

NVM--128gb available at my locations
