I have a pending charge on my CC from ATT for my phone (purchased it full price) , status says preparing to ship but my shipping estimate is still october 16-23. Because of the CC charge I'm hoping it gets to me by launch day :0

Your pending charge, most likely, will drop off soon. Sorry, didn't mean to burst your bubble.
 
I am confused. I'd like to understand why anybody actually needed to order through the AT&T site versus ordering direct from Apple.

This year I ordered from AT&T because it was online first. In all other years I have ordered direct from Apple. I have never lost my grandfathered unlimited data plan.

The only reason that might make sense is if the next plan requires that you get your phone directly from AT&T?

This is my reason and many others as well. AT&T is your only option if you want a 2 year contract with subsidized pricing. No one else (including Apple) is doing the 2 year contract with AT&T anymore.

I think with AT&T's systems it says back-ordered by default in the beginning. You don't technically have a phone yet. A phone is delivered from China to AT&T (in a box with several others), unpacked and then it's assigned to a customer and shipped. AT&T probably doesn't even have any phones at this point.

I don't know if this is current, but it's the UPS planes that leave Shenzhen headed for staging in the U.S. Considering that next week is launch, these could be the phones that will get delivered that day.

Got my order in about 3 minutes before midnight. Technically it was 1:57 am central time. Pretty easy process. Well done AT&T. Used the iPhone app.

You are the first person I have seen that ordered a 6s plus from AT&T and got launch day shipping. I'm wicked jealous.
 
I guess now that we are all moved/moving to "Preparing to Ship" there is not much else to obsess over. Fingers crossed, even though I know launch delivery is unlikely (especially for us Rose Gold people).

Not everyone's status has changed to "preparing to ship" In fact there are quite a few (a boat load) still stuck in "processing".

I ordered a 64GB space gray 6S plus on Saturday at 12AM PST. Right now my order status is "In Progress" but in the text below it says "Your order is being prepared for shipping." Throughout this thread people have mentioned their order status as "processing" vs "preparing to ship". I am assuming I am currently in the "processing" group but was slightly confused by AT&Ts wording vs what people are quoting in here. Any thoughts?

Either way my order still says Oct 16-23 for shipping so the status doesn't really matter much.
 
Just sharing my 2 cents. Haven't read through all the questions/comments. So I did the iPhone 6 preorder last year through AT&T premier site. I remember getting my phone (4-5 days after launch) after ordering 4 minutes before midnight. I had a target date 4 weeks after launch and at one point it was like mid November. The day before I got my phone I received my tracking number and it was already on it's way. I would expect the same behavior for most of you folks in here.

Never again will I deal with AT&T premier. No one in AT&T customer support would ever directly answer me. Tweets/Phone Calls/Live Person web chat. This year I ordered through Apple's web app about 30 mins after preorders went live. And have had no issues with my order thus far. There was a billing error on apple's side, and I called in spoke with a manager and she took care of it, and even followed up with me the next day on her own time. Apple support is why we pay the premium price.

Thanks for sharing your 2 cents but it was worth a little more ;)
This is the first time I have ever pre ordered a phone through AT&T. It was not a pleasant experience. I made the choice to order through because getting a 2 year contract with subsidized pricing was a priority for me. It was nice to hear someone's else's experience. I have a better idea what to expect (or not to expect) now.
You are so right about Apple support. My experiences with Apple support have always been positive. Can't say the same about AT&T which stands for: (A)bout to go (T)hrough something (T)terrible

Odd question time again!! If the phone's don't ship till the 24th for overnight delivery, when should we get our tracking numbers?
 
Has anyone with a 64Gb Plus order (of any Color) seen their status go from "In Progress" to "Preparing to Ship" anytime except for during the day on Saturday 9/12?
 
AT&T's shipping estimates on the mobile app are 9/24 for most 6S except RG 16/64. 6S Plus are 10/20-27 and 10/27-11/3.

I ordered RG 6S Plus 128 at 10:30 PM and I'm 10/23-10/30.
 
To my surprise, I was able to preorder via the At&t app a few minutes before official preorder time on September 12th. I finalized my transaction for the Silver iPhone 6S Plus 64GB, two minutes before preorder started. Got a confirmation email and even a text a few minutes later. I was excited I had preordered so early and thought surely that meant an early ship time(hoping for Sept 25). Then I noticed on the email that shipping dates listed were Oct. 16-23. Grr... Stuck in "pending shipment" at the moment. I'll never understand how they figure the order in which people get their phones. Doesn't quite seem "first come, first serve."

Yeah I ordered 64 GB space gray 6S plus on Sunday morning and mine switched from in progress to preparing to ship later that day, estimated delivery is still 10/16-10/23 though :(

Ordered two 6S Space Gray 64gb's last night. Both already changed to Preparing to Ship. Looks like they're in plentiful supply this year compared to the 6's last year and the 5S launch.
