Getting info from AT&T is tricky, I've tried many times over the years and everyone I ask gives me a different answer. Just the other day I called them to ask if the tax for this phone will be charged to my cc or my bill. The first person said my bill and I called an hour later and asked again because I didn't really trust what they said and the second person said no it gets charged to your cc.

I was thinking of canceling my order and just going directly to apple but idk if it will take time for the system to update once I cancel. I don't want to be stuck with apple saying the system shows you already upgraded so now your not eligible.

If you are doing a two year contract those are only available from AT&T directly. I am sure many of us would be going to Apple or other sources if that weren't the case. If you are using the next plan then I am not sure if there is a delay between canceling one order and doing another.

I cancelled my order from AT&T and went through Best Buy. They are still giving me a September 25th in-store pickup date, and I am getting a $200 gift card, seems like a great deal to me. :)

I do hope the ship dates get pushed up for you guys though!

Im assuming both because i am an existing ATT customer they still offered the promotion to me

Hmm okay, so just to be clear - if I were to do this, and trading in an iPhone 5, I would get a $200 gift card in addition to an upgrade to the 6s?

I did a pre-order through AT&T and "upgraded" to NEXT. If I cancel the pre-order with AT&T, will it immediately release my account and allow me to do it through Best Buy? I don't want to mess anything up nor lose my iPhone being received by 9/25.

I ordered a 6s + 64gb space gray on 9/17 and was given a ship date of 9/22-9/29. Today that ship date is 10/15-10/22. Spoke to rep by chat and got a scripted answer about inventory levels. I have perfectly good 6+ so I can be patient. I do think the logistics in these iPhone rollouts, given the huger numbers, are difficult, but there may be something to jjallison1s info after all!!

Has anyone on att who made the deadline to get the phone for sept 25 see any order changes or tracking numbers? I ordered sat at 3:01am est got first email 3:02am second one 3:30pm my order been ready to ship since like monday the charge was on my card fell off no re-adding the charge no actually shipped yet.... Im reading other carrier forms every carrier but ATT has shipped the phones out atleast to my knowledge
AT&T ships 2nd Day Air, so their notices go out later than most other iPhone preorder shipments.

I'm not sure, but I would assume so. I doubt they would alter your account before they charge and ship your device.

I believe the difference with ATT is that the 6S models are located in storage in the US whereas the 6S+ models are shipping out directly from China as they are manufactured due to demand. This would explain the release date arrivals for the 6s and the October dates for the plus. That's not to say there isn't initial stock or that Apple can't meet the demand sooner. I read in an article (from a couple years ago) that Foxconn can pump out 500,000 iPhones a day at max production.

So... preorder didn't work for me because I need to start a new account. Is it worth going to the store on launch day, or will they all be out of phones because of the preorder? An AT&T store is right near me.

Nah, they already charged my credit card for the tax on the iPhone and when checking eligibility through Best Buy, it shows my next upgrade is in 2017, which makes sense given the NEXT pricing I chose (18 months).

So, what would you suggest I do to take advantage of the Best Buy pricing? I don't want to risk losing my slot on 9/25, but it'd be nice if I could switch to Best Buy and get $200 free.

I did the preorder with att just two days ago in store. I opened a new account and signed up for a NEXT plan for two lines. I had planned to order the phones from Apple, but Apple would not let me. They said only ATT could sell me the phones on the new account. That and ATT have more stock to sell. I have a 6s space gray arriving on Friday and a 6s Plus coming late in Oct. Going to the ATT store at launch seems like a bigger hassle than doing the preorder if you are looking for a 6s on a new account.

I'm waiting for a call from the "internal escalation team" whatever that means. AT&T Premier US rep told me that they have 3 different order "systems" and that on all of mine they show 9/24 on her end but 10/20-10/27 on mine. Will update as I get info. I'm calling corporate tomorrow.

I think the $200 gift card is only for new Next accounts, so you would have to add another line to your account. If you drop the line, it should take affect immediately. I've done that a couple of times to go to the Apple stores for the 6 Plus last year. I would call and make sure, or chat online.

I'm still skeptical of your other predictions of people "in the business" you say you know. But that article makes clear there are a couple models out there this year. Good to know..

No insider knowledge here, though I was saying/guessing something similar to what jjallison1 was saying. If there is a shortage of 6s+ devices it is possible AT&T got the short end of the stick by having a unique model. Jj was saying they thought the Apple Store was giving the non-at&t model to AT&T customers, but I was just saying if there is limited stock it's not surprising that Apple has more available.

I got the regular 6s so I am expecting delivery this Friday. I am not too happy about needing to order from AT&T with their new policies. If I had ordered the 6s+ and it got delayed I would call AT&T about getting the upgrade fee credited back at a minimum.

Was there a shortage of rose gold 6s's that we know of. So much conflicting speculation between the two models is confusing sometimes lol

6s or 6s plus? I got a direct line to the supervisor staff of that department so I might call and see if I can hear anything.

It seems like there's a short supply of any new color, when it's first introduced. It could be because they make fewer of the new color models until they know what demand will be like, or high demand just because it's new and different, or (most likely) a combination of both.

Post the number as I am a premier member but my 6S+ always showed the 10/16-23 date even though I ordered and paid at 02:07am CST.

i am holding out hope that I get mine Friday.

I think they made a lot of the rose gold but I worry about the amount of returns that will happen for that color since its closeness to pink and wonder if they will get resold as new.

Post the number so we who have the 10/16-23 delivery date for 6S+ can find out what is going on

Ok talked to AT&T person from Twitter on the phone. No new/helpful info :/. I will call "office of the president" tomorrow and/or email corporate.

Good to know that I, whose first confirmation e-mail was at 12:02PDT and second e-mail at 12:08 and has a expected shipping date of 10/16-10/23, there is hope I may not have to wait till then.
