Let's please stop saying it's EXACTLY like last year for + phones. It's NOT. We've found out a number of things confirmed different from last year.
1) 2yr contract only available from ATT site or app - forcing more + owners to ATT app/site this year.
2) a new special model A1647 that has LTE 30 Band that is the ONLY model that's being manufactured for ATT orders.
3) The A1647 6S+ model has had flash screen supply channel problems.. Making the production goals be unmet.

This is why ATT's site and app showed ship dates of mid October availability from the preorder night.

So though there still might be hope for you 6S+ folks - it's NOT AT ALL the exact same hope/chance from last year.. So let's just stop saying that nonsense. Get caught up and read a little people!
Then explain why the 6S with the special band is available for 9/25? Also why Apple has stock of the AT&T band iPhone.

I just find it funny how people say they will leave AT&T just because they didn't get their phone on time.
I love having my apple products on launch day, but come on a few days won't kill you. I rather get my phone late and stay with AT&T as their coverage and reliability exceeds Sprint and T-Mobile in South Florida. What good if having a new iPhone is your service sucks?

I know a few CSR people who work for AT&T and they don't know anything. They say every year its the same thing, people calling asking for shipping info, and they can only see what we see.

Point is... The 6S+ will not come in mid to late October. Apple will ship these phones nonstop and just like last year the shipping dates will move up. Im optimistic most of you will get it by the end of September, if not early October and if you're really lucky on launch day (or launch weekend).

This is far too reasonable and and sensible for the common pre-order customer, hahaha. But yes, you are absolutely in the right mindset. It's like seeing a blockbuster movie on opening night--fun, and to some preferable, but not at all necessary.

You find enjoyment in pretty weird stuff. Also, a lot of peoples concerns have been reasonable, mixed of course with people who are just a little too excited about getting the phone. I am not sure what people taken aback by impatience are expecting from a pre-order thread anyway.

Mine never fell off. That only happened with 6S+ people.

I ordered a 6s plus and I still have the pending charge on my card for my Next downpayment and tax. Note to self: never order a phone at launch from AT&T again. I could have ordered my phone from Apple and have it Friday. Why on earth did I get up at 2am to order a phone? AT&T should have been more forthcoming with the fact that everyone ordering a plus model phone from them would be waiting. I think it's just totally crappy of them.

It would be cool if we could track them from China though. We could always live vicariously through the other posts until we get our tracking information lol.
I admit I definitely do miss the tracking from China. Wish I could order from Apple.

All speculation here again: The 6s+ is the one in short supply, not the 6s. They seem to have plenty of 6s phones. If there are a limited number of 6s+ phones it isn't surprising that Apple has the stock. Apple doesn't want to look bad by not having any phones available. Maybe AT&T didn't pay enough money or commit to buy enough phones.

Easy explanations..
1) It's only the larger screen model 6S+ (with the LTE30 antenna) that had the back lit flash screen supply problems.
2) Of course Apple would hog most of the LTE30 band for themselves.. Duh! And it's the only phone that can be activated to ATT for full functionality from their stores. And activated to all other carriers.

And of course it then logically follows (though this is speculation - my other points are facts) that Verizon, Sprint and TMobile all got ample supply of the model without the LTE30 band.. since it was not needed for those carriers.. Apple not hogging those models either.

All seems logical to me.. Though IT SUCKS!! for 2 yr contract people who had to use ATT app/site this yr.

I just want the nonsense about "same every year" to stop being said. That's a total fallacy. This year is ONLY like last year in that there were supply chain issues.. But not at all like last year - that "most people" with mid October ship dates will see their phone on launch day. Remember last year there were three different back order ship dates ? And on preorder night most people saw launch date delivery for 6+ only to see it change a few days later to last week of Sept, First week of Oct, 3rd week of October and first week of Nov. All fanned out like that based on order time.

This year ALL 6S+ orders saw 3rd week of Oct from preorder night.. Right in the website info.. even before you finished your order. This is also different than last year.

I get the only large screen models but really AT&T got none. That to me wouldn't make sense. I'll just wait til Friday. If not October it is. At least we will have our phones eventually

If someone at att just said "you will not get your phone on time" that would be fine. Its the horrible customer service promising all different things and then changing stuff that had nothing to do with order and blaming me for doing it that has me thinking of switching.

Exactly! Its not the fact that the phone is delayed its the lack of communication and horrible customer service.

Everybody who ordered has a ship date and none are past those estimates at this point. There is simply no way to know at this point if those ship dates are going to be made earlier.

My ship date was 9/24. Got an email saying delayed to october, had to accept or it would cancel. I never hit accept, AT&T agent did it while I was on the phone saying he was changing it back to 9/24.

I never said ATT got 'none'.. Remember last year.. many 6+ from ATT saw 9/16 deliveries but then a couple days later the ship dates moved back? This was the online fullfillment centers getting info from the warehouses saying -- NOT SURE HOW MANY APPLE WILL SEND US.. And so they 'fanned' out the delivery dates based on first come first serve. This year - FROM DAY ONE of the pre-order Apple knew there was a problem with the A1634 version (sorry I've been saying 1647.. Read article below) - and that's why they reported the Mid October date to ALL ATT app/site orderers on pre-order night.

Here's the pertinent excerpt from the article I read - I'll try to find my link to to original article so you can see for yourself if it's trustworthy info.. But here's the excerpt - that made the light bulb go off for me about this whole fiasco - and how I'm losing hope that our 6S+ brothers and sisters may NOT be getting their phones on launch day. I believe Apple will send maybe a million, maybe less, A1634s to ATT -- but nowhere near as many will see their ship dates change.. .. my $0.02..

Pertinent article excerpt:
Everyone who ordered a 6S Plus directly from ATT will not get their phones until mid to late October due to a backlight panel issue. The problem is that Apple had a supply chain problem with the backlight panel manufacturer for the plus. What panels they did get, they put into the Verizon/sprint plus model (A1687), and the China model (A1699), and none into the ATT model (A1634). Everyone who ordered ATT directly from Apple, and some other outlets, will get model A1687 on launch day, since that model can also work on ATT network.

jjallison1, is that you?? Please stop spreading the same misinformation. I don't know where you saw this "article," but the excerpt that you quoted is simply jjallison1 trolling, claiming that his wife works for Apple and he has some super-secret inside knowledge. There is absolutely NO evidence to support his claim, but he expects us to take it as gospel.

Ordered by 3:10am, my ATT order lists as preparing to ship. Its the 6s Plus 64gig. However, according to my dates I am looking at October.
Mine has been the same. Pre-ordered 6s+ 64GB on 9/12 at 3:15 EST, it has always shown as preparing to ship, I have the Oct 13th to whatever ship date too, right from the pre-order date. I think that is their way of saying no matter what, it will eventually ship.

In all fairness jjallison1 is just putting together a likely story with the facts we know. We know there is a unique AT&T model. It appears that AT&T doesn't have much stock, though Apple has some. Other carriers with the other model seem to have more stock available. I don't believe what they say about Apple giving AT&T customers the Non-AT&T model. I think the limited quantity of that model has for the most part gone to Apple. Hopefully AT&T gets a decent number and is able to move up some ship dates.

This may seem like a dumb question, but why does AT&T have a special model phone with the LTE 30 antenna? Do none of the other providers (Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.) offer the signal or whatever it is?

I got a midnight blue silicon case for my iPhone 6s+ last week. I measured my iPhone 5 against it, held it to my ear, etc... boy my wife and kids must think me pathetic. Ha! Whenever my phone comes I have a case and tempered screen cover ready.

I promise I'll only post this once a day or so, but I'm guessing most people don't read through the 44 pages of this thread. AT&T orders are scheduled to ship 9/24 and that's when they will ship. They won't ship 9/21 or 9/22 and you won't get tracking information 3 days before the device ships. Other carriers are providing tracking all the way back to China. AT&T is not. Your device is scheduled to ship 9/24 and no update will be provided before then, regardless of what people on other carriers are seeing.

^THIS! I rarely post on these forums (ok, never) but am a regular reader. Having personally pre-ordered every iPhone that's ever been available to pre-order, both through Apple and AT&T, take the tracking information with a grain of salt. The delivery date you are promised is the date your iPhone will arrive. There have been years where UPS or FedEx tracking info has said my iPhone was still in China or Alaska, even after signing for the delivery. It makes no difference if your iPhone ships 9/21 or 9/25 - you will get your iPhone on time. Promise.

-Chris
