This might be a silly question but here goes anyway. For all of you that ordered from AT& T and are now going to Best Buy or Apple to get your phones, are you giving up your 2 year contract price and switching to Next to get your phone on launch day?
The only reason I ordered from AT&T was to keep my 2 year contract. As we all know buying the phone anywhere else won't allow you to do that.
I'm already on the Next plan.

Yes but if you head into your local store and start yelling the place up, it'll all be for no reason because the people you'll be yelling at have no control over how many phones they get and none of them created the advertising that got you to pre-order with them is all I'm saying. You'll be wasting your time and ruining the morning of a few innocent bystanders.
I'm confused as to why you're in such a hurry to give money and patronage to a business that you already suspect has lied to you and is committing false advertising.
Let them be. Look for your phone on Friday but when you show up, have a smile on your face, tell someone they look sharp and great today and you might just get lucky. Go in scowling like a thundercloud and angry that you were lied to and this is false advertising anger anger ANGER anger and they'll look you right in the face and tell you there are no phones and no we're not getting any more this week, but hey lemme get my manager so you can hammer him for a while.
Completely understand what you are saying. I didn't mean go off on those employees, meant call into the higher up of best buy. After working in places like that and being a college kid I understand what they go through and that is nothing on them workers.

I looked through my emails and was able to locate the emails with the tracking numbers for every new iPhone since 2010. The tracking info always arrived on the Wednesday prior to launch. Three hours to go! ;)
Yes. I stand corrected. Wed.. It is .. Last year too. Found my email.. Wed notify via email. Thursday ship day, Friday arrive day.

Att vp I spoke with mentione 3 million pre orders. Now the question is at what point did it hit 3 million?

What I ordered: iPhone 6s Plus, 128 GB, Silver
Shipping dates: 10/16 - 10/23
Status: Preparing to ship
Order: 9/12/2015 at 3:18 edt

After the order status webpage quit loading for me tonight, I tried an online chat with AT&T. The rep asked for my order number and zip code. However, he was unable to find the order. I'm not sure if he was entering it in wrong or if he just didn't want to help me. He suggested I call a phone number for help. It was an automated number, but it let me enter the line number instead of the order number. Lo and behold, it is telling me that my order has been sent to the warehouse for shipping and that it cannot be changed or cancelled. It gave me no tracking number but did say I would receive an email when my order shipped. It also didn't give me an expected shipping day.

On the AT&T website, it lists a different phone number for checking an order status. I tried that number too. After entering phone number and zip code, it tells me that my order is actually on a back order and apologized for he delay. :(

I'm not sure what to believe, lol. The website just loaded for me again and it is still showing the 10/16 - 10/23 shipping dates.

For an FYI, the number the online rep gave me is: 1-866-267-4510.
The order status number from the AT&T website is: 1-877-782-8870.

Maybe not three hours but some time on Wednesday. Is when I believe we will know.

OMG! I thought today was Wednesday! Three hours and one day to go! I feel better already! Thanks for pointing that out. Incidentally, I found the emails pertaining to the iPhone 3gs (2009), but it didn't have a tracking number. All it said was that my new iphone would arrive on friday.

Dont post online that I will be able to pick it up in store on Friday September 25 and they wouldn't have a problem if I don't get it. If you don't know how many you are getting than don't say I can have it release day before prior notice..Am I correct? Did AT&T tell you that you would have the phone on release day? No...and you are all mad...so yes I would be making enemies regardless. I called 2 reps today and they also told me I will get it on friday september 25, so with that said I would have 2 best buy workers who also lied to me..
You're one of those guys who screams at the poor employee who checks your receipt on the way out of the big box stores, aren't you? Chill out, man. It's a phone. Let the guys do their jobs, the last thing they need is some jerk busting their balls over something they have no control over.

I've answered all these questions before.

I'll reanswer only 1.. You make the faulty assumption that apple production facilities allocated the good backlight screens EVENLY between all models. They likely didn't - and that would explain the discrepancy. Speculation - I grant you.. But explains what we're seeing. The model number differences are not speculation. That's fact.

I assume nothing which is why I use the phrase "depending on how many of which handset Apple makes". While I've been following along a bit over the last few days I don't know that anyone knows everything that has been stated in the forum. I think all of this is just speculation. I'm aware of the model number differences but we really don't know crap right now. This thread wouldn't be 68 pages if that weren't true. I ordered my phone at 2:11CDT. Apple was still listing my phone with 9/25 delivery at 8am that morning with they rest already showing 2-3 weeks. I like to hope that means my choice was the least popular, 6s plus gold 128gb. As for the backlight, if I were  I'd allowcate the backlights, and production for that matter, to the units that are selling most. To me that sounds like the LTE 30 band unit if Apple is selling that unit to all of its customers and sending them to AT&T. All speculation of course, but it makes the most sense to me. Either way we'll all know soon how long we need to hold our breath, or if we shouldn't at all.

Your wasting your time trying to explain to them. Everyone with common sense understands.

Thanks, Sunrisesammy. I knew I'd read/heard it somewhere. The PC Mag article only talks about the model numbers.. I stand corrected again.. Sorry, gang. I knew we had it on good word about ATT getting slammed with 3 mil preorders when they'd expected 1 mil. But the proof's not in writing.. So i can understand people being skeptical of your call with a VP, Sammy.. We live in an age of 'prove of it to me'.. LOL

I'm curious, how many people Had to order through AT&T in order to keep their 2 year contract and how many people who already are on a Next plan ordered through them anyway even though they could have ordered elsewhere?

Reasonable points.. We're on the same page.

The total number of preorders doesn't really matter at this point. The only thing that we really care about is how many they can actually ship on launch date. And saying one million is pure speculation.

And yes.. tomorrow this thread will FILL UP with people getting shipping emails... for their 6S... NOW.. The interesting thing to ponder is --- if 6SPlus people do NOT get their shipping emails tomorrow.. with that NECESSARILY mean they are NOT getting their phones on Friday?

Not PURE speculation. From the mouth of a VP of AT&T. (Hearsay.. yes)

Yea I know I'd be skeptical too! It's this skepticism which separates us from the sheeple.

6S in high supply everywhere. Go on ATT website now and can get it Friday. All problems with 6S+ only.
Do you really believe that if I order a 6s now I'll get it Friday?
I'm thinking of doing this to avoid waiting in line at a store that morning.

Hearsay, yes. But it's not from the mouth of a VP from AT&T. It's from the mouth of a person saying it was from someone in the office of a VP at AT&T.
