I got 6 plus 128 GB and it added 47/ month to my bill.

At that point does it even save you money to go next? What 950/24 =$40/month. Vs buying it for 499$ outright?

Save 25 a month off 40 so 15/month x24 is 360, plus the tax on entire amount (50$) so 410$ spent for the phone. Vs 499+25$ tax. I guess you do save 160ish $.

One thing everyone should think about. Before jumping on the 20GB deal, the 30GB plan will no longer be available after the end of this month. With devices using more and more data, you might want to think about the future before settling on only 20.

Yeah, but it's still $30 to go from 10GB to 30GB. I'd rather have the 20GB for $100. I'm sure in a few months there will be another promotion so I feel good with this option right now.

I too was successful. Just called in, got transferred and they took care of me.

Pretty much said "sprint has this promo but it's double the data, can you help a brother out"

Ya, a c/s rep on chat asked me where I heard about this rumor because it wasn't true. I told her that I wasn't going to say where, especially if she wasn't going to help me. Ended chat and called retentions and got the deal. There was no way I was going to tell her about this forum. This is where we find out things like this to help each other.

Ugh I just switched this month to 30gb (15gb on the promo) for $30. In 7 years of iPhones and iPads, we've gone over 10gb between two people exactly once...last month. So I let myself get sucked into paying another $30 so as not to have to think about going over again.

I specifically asked at the time of the upgrade if a 20gb plan was in the works. I was told no.

$30 and a month later, here we are.

And I just checked my data usage for the month with 7 days left...we are at 7gb.

We don't need 30gb. We barely need 10. But 20 would be nice.

Give retentions a call and get that 20gb's ;)

Just curious, how would saying you heard about this on a specific site screw anyone over?
What exactly would happen to screw someone?

If AT&T decided they didn't want to offer this anymore, that would be because the system crunched out a report that highlighted how many of these deals they are doing and someone in management cancels the option in the system or requires extra approvals or something. Not because someone decided to go to this site and see that 10 or 50 or 100 people here got the deal.

I just got the deal too.
10 was cutting it close, 30 seemed way excessive.

My guess is that next year or the following year when the 7 comes out, there will be another set of competitive battles and the prices will fall again

Seriously, who would have thought 2 years ago, that you can get 20G for $100?

But how do I play the "Match Sprint or else!" card when I already have 30gb? "Downgrade me or else!" doesn't hold much water.

Tell them what you said earlier. Say you did not need that much data but got it just in case and 20gb would be perfect. I'm sure they'll do it. You got nothing to lose.

I just called, as others did, and just asked if they could double the 10 plan. They said sure. Took 5 minutes, 3 of which were on hold waiting to talk to a rep. No threats, no mention of Sprint or switching.

I was on the 30 plan.

Don't overthink it. :D

They're not looking into your logic, just that you have even the slightest thought of leaving. Retention reps are like Top Gun; best of the best. They have good people skills and reasonable leeway in solving problems. I'm fairly certain they are graded on the percentage of customers they retain, so a call like this is low hanging fruit to them.

I wish I was getting this promotional offer as easy as the rest of you!

After talking to 2 different reps, both have turned me down. I called the wrong department at first...I guess there are a few different "cancellation" departments. The girl that I spoke with at first denied that there was such a plan, but then came clean and said that they will only do it if I call and threaten to cancel my service over it.

She then asked if I was going to cancel my service..I said no, but it would be nice if they could give me this 20GB plan anyway, since it fits with our data usage a lot better.

She then said she'd transfer me to the correct cancellations department, and that I'd have to basically say I want to cancel my service over this.

When I finally was transferred, another girl spoke with me and asked how she could help. I politely said that I heard sprint is offering 20GB for the price of 10GB, and I'd appreciate it if AT&T could offer me the same.

Again, she also denied that such a promotion existed and that I was already getting a great deal and there was nothing more she could do.

I guess I could of started getting angry and threatening to cancel, but she honestly either seemed clueless or could tell I was bluffing.

The first rep was clearly giving you a hint to tell her that you want to cancel so it can be recorded on file.

It's just not a pleasant thing to have to experience.

Some of us REALLY don't like haggling for deals. I personally hate it. It makes me feel like I'm getting overcharged in the first place if I have to play whiny customer to get a better deal. I still haven't called Comcast because I'm so busy but also because I don't want the hassle of those darn phone calls with 15 sales pitches just so I can find out why the 50 GB plan listed on their "upgrade" section is $4 less than my 20 GB plan. A company looking to build loyalty would automatically switch me. A company just looking at bottom line like Kabletown will wait until the sucker complains.

I didn't want to cancel though, from what I read on these posts most people only had to say "hey upgrade me to 20GB thanks," and it worked. I didn't want to lie if I didn't have to.

I also didn't want to create a huge scene and have them think I was cancelling and still not offer me the data boost, and then back out and say never mind.

But you dont have to cancel. All you say in return is "Yeah, I am thinking about cancelling". That gets recorded on file for her supervisor and that's it. You don't lie either, it's just a thought. You dont actually go through with cancelling.

All you need to tell them is that you saw sprint's mobile share plan and ask them to match... mine was done after 5-10 mins

Yeah, makes more sense now...I guess I'm not that great with this haggling game. The other posts just made it seem a lot more straight forward and easy.

Not sure if I'll call back or not, the second rep that I talked to seemed rather annoyed that I even mentioned Sprint in the first place. Oh well

They can't cancel your service without you confirming. Threaten to cancel, hold your ground. If a rep calls your bluff on canceling, then just say you're going to hold off on canceling and hang up.

I'm a new ATT customer with 2 lines, I doubt very much I'm willing to press them to the point where I get sent to the retentions department.

Plus at the moment I'm at 4GB, I'll not need to worry about 10GB of bandwidth until my kids get phones.

EXACTLY why I posted the following:
I'd strongly encourage anyone considering this to get it done ASAP. I suspect as word gets around some higher-up at AT&T may pull the plug and they'll make it much harder or outright refuse to do so. Maybe not, but still best to not wait.

And it isn't just MR, people are bad for doing the same thing on Slickdeals. I won't be surprised if we see this become more difficult to accomplish later today.
