I ordered Space Gray and Silver because I couldn't decide.

Even though I'm month to month, and I chose to pay the phone(s) in full, why does AT&T require phone number? I'm used to just swapping out the SIM card from current iPhone to new phone. I've had problems in the past where I lost VM's and all recently dialed numbers, etc when I didn't swap SIM cards.

Secondly, if I open the first phone and like it, and willing to let friend buy the other one, do we need to contact AT&T to unlock the phone?

I don’t know either why they do that? Maybe so tourists can’t buy an iPhone. Priority for people living in the USA.

The phone will be unlocked if you paid it in full - not sure if you pay monthly. You’ll be able to use it on any network except any CDMA network.

Swapping out the old sim in the new phone is what I always do too. Works like a charm.

Ordered 64GB SG 10/27 at 3:04PM EST through upgrade option. D/FW TX.
Prepared to Ship two hours later.
Shipped email 11/2. at 12:37AM. FedEx text notification came Nov. 2 at 8AM. AT&T website updated to Shipped (probably) a few hours after email.
FexEx tracking says shipped Monday 10/30. 2lbs/.91kg. Schedule my delivery, deliver to another address, hold for pickup, and signature are not available. Future delivery requested and ATT website says Shipping Date was the 28th lol. They don't play.

Tip - FedEx Delivery Manager shows you an estimated delivery window. Make sure to sign up. Mine is 12:40 - 2:50 and luckily someone will be home.

I was wondering this too. Maybe they want to give priority to their own customers? What's really absurd is that you can't even pre-order a phone from Apple without choosing your carrier and using your number. If you wanted to buy an iPhone for yourself and one as a gift for someone else, you can't.
I'm surprised both shipped. I assumed AT&T would cancel one of the orders, since one phone was still showed 'Preparing for shipment' late yesterday.
Really? I never tried this feature before. It would be so cool to see the truck getting closer and closer to me tomorrow...
like Waze? lol

Felt like Christmas when I was a kid opening that email this morning

I had problems loading the app when it launched and waited an hour even though it supposedly saved my spot. I couldn't find any info on my order on the website but I just got a notice saying it's expected for delivery tomorrow. I'm floored! =O

I ordered at 6:00 am eastern on the 27th. Apple site was showing 5-6 weeks, so I ordered from the AT&T site. Space Gray 64GB. Received shipping email at 6:02 this morning notifying me it will be here tomorrow.

I got a FedEx tracking number this morning for my 64GB Silver from AT&T. Shipped it through FedEx. Hold for pickup unavailable, so I called and they said there’s a restriction on the package by the shipper (AT&T) where they have to at least make one delivery attempt before it’s held at a location. They said there’s no signature required, but it’s at the driver’s discretion whether or not to drop the package or take it back. She said if you leave a note on the door with your name, signature, tracking number, and stating to just drop the package, the driver should drop it instead of taking it back. But again, she reiterated to me it’s at the discretion of the driver and they can’t guarantee it will be dropped. I’m going to give it a try anyway and see what happens.

My FedEx Delivery Manager doesn't show an estimated delivery window, just deliver by 8pm. Where should I look for the delivery window?

- Where is the estimated delivery window? All I see is scheduled delivery Friday 11/3 by 8pm.

Got my email around 3:00 am, shipping Fedex from Fort Worth to Houston, been in Fedex's possesion since Sunday.

I just called FedEx to see if I can have it shipped to my office or a FedEx Store since I won’t be home when it’s delivered. I was told only AT&T can change the shipping address. I was also told that if I’m not home, it won’t be left at my door. They will attempt delivery again on Monday when again I won’t be home. Does anyone know if the rep I spoke to was wrong and if FedEx will leave it at my door? Or has anyone had luck calling AT&T to get them to authorize FedEx to change the delivery address?
They’ll allow an indirect signature. Ask FedEx if you can pre-sign for it. Sometimes I’ve signed a note that hard the tracking info on it and put on the note to please leave it. They usually leave it!

I am still surprised I'm getting my SG 256GB tomorrow. Placed my 43 minutes after preorder started, and was wavering between SG and silver, taking time to visit a few sites to check out the colors - and still nailed a 11/3 delivery immediately.

Was told the same thing basically. I have two notes I am leaving. Covering all bases lol.

Same here. Got AT&T "shipped" notification at 1.33 am followed by fedex delivery manager notification at 3.34am. Can;t wait to get my hands on my SG 256GB!

Shoot, FedEx doesn't let you confirm the address of a package unless you are the shipper by calling up. I'm a bit worried because I didn't receive a FedEx alert on it. But maybe their systems can be a bit behind since on the automated tracking by phone call, the only tracking they had was that a shipping label was created. On the web tracking the package already moved to another state.

If I purchased on ATT Next and decide to pay in full right after delivery, can I get an unlock code? Or is there a certain wait period before I can get unlock code? Thanks.

My steps: Open browser -> fedex.com -> Tracking tab -> Manage Your Delivery -> Click appropriate Tracking ID -> Look to the right within the Detailed Results popup window.

If this doesn't work for you, it's a possibility that I got this level of detail because I am in the DFW area. Since it's coming from FW on a truck, perhaps they have more information available to the surrounding area. Some people may have theirs coming by plane still. Hopefully more people add location and delivery window info.
