Carrier AT&T Pre-Order and Dispatch Thread

That's messed up. It's so odd because UPS and FedEx do deliver on Saturdays, but you usually have to pay extra for it, or the seller needs to add it, which is weird, as my 7+ came on the Tuesday after launch last year, and the tracking said on FedEx.com to deliver on Saturday, yet no signature was required.
I place an order online with AT&T and I got a shipping date range of Oct 6th to Oct 13th. Yet, I walked into Apple Store yesterday and they have plenty of phones and AT&T stores have them in stock as well. Why make me wait over 3 weeks?
Cancel your order, and get it in store then. I have a co-worker that ordered his on Friday and it had it would ship between Sept 27th and Oct 3rd. Low and behold he got a shipping notice today, but of course it won't really go out till Monday. So I think AT&T is just being overly caution on their dates. However, if you don't want to wait you could go into the store. He did check local stores here, but they had no stock of the 256gb in the color he wanted.
Do most people here do the pay-as-you-go thing to buy their phones with ATT? It seems like a lease to me, which I don't like.
I'd rather spend $5-700 on a phone I can keep forever rather than "subscribe" to a phone for a year. Like CC, Spotify and Netflix, I already pay for too many bills and services as it is.

I’m on ATT Next. You own the phone, of course, after you make the payments so you can’t really call it a “service.” It is an interest free financing plan so I don’t see any point to use my money to purchase the phone upfront. I also don’t want to keep my old phone. With my current trade in the payments left compared favoritely to its trade in value on common sites.Do most people here do the pay-as-you-go thing to buy their phones with ATT? I walked into my local AT&T store in Chicago. Switched from Sprint on Saturday. They had every color and storage size. Walked out with an 8 64GB Gold, 8 Plus 64GB Gold and for myself an 8 Plus 64GB Space Grey. This was the first time in launch history I could get my hands on an iPhone without waiting in line! More than pleased that my cases from the 7 Plus fit.

Once I couldn't be on the phone without it dropping multiple times I was out. Especially after I found out my "4G" was slower than AT&T and Verizon's 3G.
I stuck everything out and I stayed even when the 1st iPhone came out. I had 1 att line just for iPhone. When sprint got iPhone I transferred that line back. Sprint still has the $199-$399 upgrades. But I’m over the terrible service. Att gave me a sweet deal with government discounts. I also got the BOGO deal because I have uverse and direct.
Exactly! Signed up for internet and Directv, coupled with phone service. Got the BOGO for the 8. My line is the only one on Next every year as I have always gotten a new phone. The service is superb! It’s like night and day between the two!

Told you that is exactly what they did to my co-worker and his shipped today and will arrive tomorrow... shipping from Dallas/Fortworth TX.
I ordered Sunday afternoon at 1pm and checked this morning and it’s preparing to ship. Ordered 1 SIM card because one line was out of contract so I can upgrade to the X and already have a line available.
I’m so jealous of you all that ordered after me and are getting your phones already! I ordered on the 15th and my order still says in progress with the Oct6-13 dates.
What did you order? both my pluses are shipping but my reg 8 still says pending port but I know the port is complete.
I pre ordered the Gold 8 plus 256GB. My local AT&T store said they didn’t get any of that model shipped to them. My husband’s phone came on the 22nd. His was the 8 plus black 256 GB.
Use the upgrade since it’s 0% APR just pay chunks of money each month then you will own it and wouldn’t be in contract anymore. Basically, pay it off.
