If I have a line eligible to do a trade in and I want to pre order the X, is it going to take longer to process the order? Do I have to do the pre order through ATT or can I order through Apple? I would rather order through Apple. I've never had to do a trade in online order before.

Here is what I'm thinking for my pre-order attempt, please let me know if you think this is best or there is a better solution....

Attempt to pre-order on att.com via my MBA.
Attempt to pre-order using the Apple Store app on my iPad.
Attempt to pre-order using the AT&T app on my iPhone.

Do all this starting at say 2:55 am on the 27th. First one that goes through wins.

Will be my first time going through the craziness of trying to get an iPhone pre-orderd. Will stay up in till midnight of the 27th to try and secure one. I'm ready!

How will everyone be pre-ordering this year?, thru AT&T, apple website or going to store? Not sure which is the best way to pre-order
No better way as supply is very limited
And Apple has certain obligations to carriers and stores

This sounds like a good idea! I usually get up about a half hour before the preorder goes live, and do something similar -- but I wait until 2 am CST (I'm in the midwest). I like the idea of starting a few minutes earlier. I've found in the past few years that the Apple Store App gets in first, including this year when I was on the fence about the 8 (ultimately didn't buy it; my 6s is holding on just fine).

I'll probably do something like you on my MacBook Pro and iPhone for the X!

I think I'm going to add the Apple site on my MBA along with AT&T's site. So two tabs at the same time. Then the apps on the other two devices. Good luck!

Good plan -- good luck to you too! Still quite a ways out.

For the 7 they started late. About 15 minutes. I don’t think starting at 0:55 is going to get you anything but the “Apple store is” preparing for something great” screen.

Apple Store was a couple of minutes late for the iPhone 8 launch. Like it mattered!

eBay? Or AT&T? With AT&T you will get the new phone through your upgrade, and then in the box will be instructions for sending the current one back. AT&T will make sure you have your new phone before requiring your old one to be returned.

Can you return the phone to an AT&T store?

Okay. Awesome. I’ll be doing that then. Is ebay a safe place to try and sell it?

Most of the time I've sold my old phone on Ebay I had no issues. I did a regular auction and got around what the going price was for a two year old unlocked phone.

However, for whatever reason last year I always had someone bid at the very last minute and then never pay. I had to run the auction a couple of times before I gave up and then just put it on the Offerup app and sold it there.

I think there's a setting you have to go to on ebay that only allows people with valid credit cards entered into their account to bid which may save you that headache.

Is there a way to shorten the order process when pre ordering the iPhone X through apple store app with ATT&T next. I have my carrier information readily available but there are few more steps involved which take few more previous seconds.

Any tips on how to make the process when pre ordering on apple store app with AT&T next?

Nope. But sticking the old phone in the box and sticking on a label was easy. :)

I will say the old-phone-tradein process was painless.

So they send you everything you need to send it back to them.

Do you know if you have to return all cables and ear buds back with the phone or just the phone?

Just the phone.

You use the outer box the new phone ships in. They provide a return label. And tape! I had the Apple Box for the old phone and I used that; otherwise I would have had to wrap the phone.

Stupid question, this is my first time on the at&t next program. When I return my current phone in do I have to include everything the phone comes with in the box or just the phone?

So, if we aren’t going to use a finance plan and are choosing to pay in full, is that going to be treated the same as a finance plan regarding availability? In the past, I believe any unlocked phone was always later than one on a carrier plan?

For the iPhone 8 preorders att started taking orders at 2:56am est. earlier than any other method. Plus I would get onto att website early. They have a line type system. And they put people in a queue.

Has anyone run into this with AT&T? I bought the Note 8 when it was released, and just paid it off online 2 days ago. It normally in the past when I have done this, shows it's upgrade eligible right away. But this time it's not showing that and still shows me to owe $930 left! I called AT&T 3 times, and they tell me in their system, it shows to be paid off. But when I check their website, or Best Buy or Apple, all of them say I am not eligible. No one at AT&T can fix the issue other than telling me I just need to wait.

But I only have 6 days till the X comes out and I am not sure what I can do!
