Wondering the same. Earlier today I paid the remaining $160 balance on the two 6s+64GB phones on my account. But now, it seems like a no-brainer to order through Apple and take the $250 gift card versus ordering through AT&T and accepting the (up to) $200.

Am I missing anything? Besides the obvious $50 difference, the Apple / Brightstar trade-in seems fixed at $250 vs. the AT&T trade-in of "up to $200" that could wind up being less. Phones are both in great condition, always in cases and just light scratches on the screen.

how do you get a 250. Gift Card????

I am a sales rep at an at&t Corp store, as of right now no bogo on iPhone x.

Okay, short question . . . based on what someone said, after talking to a sales rep, I surmised that I would not have to pay an activation fee (to AT&T) if I select the "pay in full" option when ordering from the Apple Store. And all I would have to do is transfer the sim card to the new phone. Would that be correct or wishful thinking on my part? In short the activation fee is charged when AT&T does something or involved in the process in some way?

You will get to pay an Upgrade Fee to AT&T. Think of it as a Toll to access the AT&T Back-end systems to prepare your new iPhone X for use on AT&T.

If you order from Apple.com or using the Apple Store app. The default option is to replace your existing device on your phone number. When your iPhone is scanned out of the factory, The bar codes are read and everything is setup to use the new nano-SIM in the iPhone X to complete the Activation steps once you get the new iPhone X into your hands next week.

If you just want to swap SIMs, you would want to purchase the iPhone from the Apple retail store as a "Device Only" purchase. This also allows you to bypass any Upgrade fee from AT&T.
