Ok thank you for clarifying that. I heard somewhere else too that I will get a box when I receive the X to ship my current device back in to ATT.

That you will. There should be a pre-paid shipping label included in the box you receive your new phone in (The shipping box, of course), as well as any related return materials.

Awesome, thank you for all your help. Good luck to you tonight and hopefully we both get our phones on release day!

Apple Store app still won't display 30 Month NEXT plan, even after confirming my account details in the app. I'd rather save a few bucks a month, but I assume that I could call AT&T after I lock in my order to change to the 30 months NEXT schedule. Anyone done this in the past?

If my monthly bill isn’t due until Nov 11th but is showing in the AT&T app, will that prevent me from preordering if I don’t have a zero balance?

Anyone else getting an error when the Apple Store App trying to connect with AT&T to verify details of zip code and last 4 ss? I get an error, then need to put in again the zip and ss and then it works. Anyway to update the information somewhere so it pre-populates correctly in the app?

I get the same error and would also like to know

Is there any place to put in your credit card info on the ATT site or app beforehand? Not to set up automatic payments but for buying a device? I'll try to buy with the apple app first but want the ATT app as a backup.

Question... My mom is with AT&T and currently owns a non-smartphone (so no data charges), if she preorders the iPhone X tonight and decides she doesn't want to keep the X, can she just stay and use her old phone? Can she also give the X to someone else to use? Thanks.

You can call AT&T and get your eligibility for iPhone X right now and teh taxes you have to pay on purchase

Can't answer the first but in my weeks of researching and reading, I believe if you don't pay in full whatever card you order with will be charged tax and the first months fee. Not positive but that's my consensus. So definitely needs to be an active card for sure.

On the att site you only pay taxes. It doesn’t include the first months fee.

I think we discussed this earlier, and perhaps buried somewhere in this thread, but I checked on my current bill, and I've got about $75 to go in terms of paying off my 6s; is this something that should be paid off before pre-ordering the X (and trading in the 6s)? Thanks for your input!

Update: talking with folks over at AT&T, it sounds like I'll end up with a monthly cost of just about the same, and probably $4 less than what I have now (6s, 64 GB) on the 30-month AT&T Next plan. The up-front cost of the X would be between $150--200 based on whether or not I turn in my 6s (to possibly pay off the rest of the phone). Checking gazelle, I could get up to $185 for it, but I wonder how much that will drop once the X comes out.
eBay is selling for $300-350. Right now I’ve got a bid for $250 and have a few days left..

Can I upgrade through Apple if I owe $250 to get to my halfway point to be able to upgrade and send my 7+ back to ATT? Or am I stuck going through ATT site since I don't own the phone outright at this point?

I plan on ordering an iPhone X tonight (well actually very early morning) for my daughter for Christmas. She is still on my AT&T account and has a 6, so she has been upgrade eligible for quite awhile now. I have the order favorited on the Apple Store App (which is speedier for me than AT&T on my iPad and iPhone) and am ready to go. I know the steps because I did them when I ordered the 8 Plus for myself. If I somehow happen to snag one for launch day, will I need to have her activate it within 30 days, or can I wait for Christmas? I will have to send it to her since she is in California and I am in Kansas.

Yes she can order the iPhone X and if she does not like it, she can switch back to her old phone and the Data plan would be removed. A Data plan is only required if the active device requires one.

She can also give away the iPhone X, sell it or even return it.

Are you 100% sure? If yes... I will try to preorder one for her tonight. As long the data plan will not be tied to her line if she decided not to use the iphone x. Thanks.

So I was doing some dry runs with the iphone 8 earlier today to make sure I could contact at&t at the final step... I left two iphone 8's in my bag. Now the store is down so I can't remove them. Ahhh!

I hope they're cleared out before preorders for the 10 go up! Taking the extra steps to remove two items from the bag could be troublesome if the store is moving slowly.

Are you guys considering t mobile which is the same version to bypass account verification for att use?

I was asking about this earlier in another thread but nobody answered. Do we need to activate a T-Mo phone with the T-Mo sim first? Or can we just remove it and pop in our AT&T Sim and we're ready to go?

I have the same question. Can’t find the answer anywhere.
