I am in this exact same situation. And the order numbers are different depending on where you look. One of the chat people told me the original date should be the one that goes. But from looking in these threads year to year, you just get the feeling that the chat people are just there to keep people from storming the stores with torches and pitchforks.AT&T's order status system is quirky...every year it's like this. Here's a perfect example:
I ordered at 3:31am EST (256gb space grey). Side note: I have a business account, so I did my order through the AT&T Premier site. If I follow the "check your order status" link off my confirmation email, it says "In Progress" and shows my correct order time with "Deliver by date: November 3, 2017".
Now if I use the "check order status" link off the att.com main site, it says my order was placed at 6:31am EST, is "In progress" and my estimated shipping time is between 12/4 and 12/18.
So I get hugely conflicting information, depending on how I check my order status. I does make me worry though....I didn't get my confirmation emails until 11:47am the morning after ordering. So I wondering if my order sat in a queue until around that time and didn't actually get confirmed at 3:31am.
Is anyone else getting a different shipping estimate when they use the main site order status link versus the link in the confirmation email??
From FedEx's website:Does anyone know if you are able to do a "hold at FedEx center" request like you can for UPS? I don't usually go this route so very interested in knowing if I can prepare to do that...
Ordered at 2:57 and 3:09 - EST - One Silver and One SG, both are showing "preparing to ship" now.what time did you order and which time zone are you in?
Thank you!From FedEx's website:
To request to have us hold your shipment for pickup at a FedEx location before the first delivery attempt or after you receive a door tag, go to fedex.com and enter the tracking number in the Track box. Select Hold at FedEx Location and choose an eligible location in your area.

Oh really? Could this be different since it is technically coming through AT&T? Thanks for the info...FedEx won't let you hold for pickup until they at least attempt to deliver it once. This is Apple's decision, not FedEx. Source: my personal experience the past 6 year's of preordering iPhones.
Does AT&T only ship FedEx? I have a tracking # in my UPS app coming from China. Curious if it’s the AT&T order or Apple.

I ordered the same model through Premier at exactly the same time. The "check my order" link in the confirmation email takes me to the same exact order status page that can be accessed from the main att.com site. No matter which way I access the order status page, it has my correct order time (3:31am ET) and says "Preparing to ship" (no option to cancel).AT&T's order status system is quirky...every year it's like this. It would be the Apple order. Apple uses UPS for 90% of all orders of iPhones. AT&T uses FedEx for 90% of all cell phone orders. There are exceptions for both choices.Does AT&T only ship FedEx? I have a tracking # in my UPS app coming from China. Curious if it’s the AT&T order or Apple.
When I've ordered from AT&T, that's been my experience whenever they send the phone FedEx. AT&T does also use UPS to ship but I would expect both carriers to have been given the same rules by Apple.
Just like for Apple, that status means all actions by you are complete and all pre-shipmet actions by AT&T are complete. No further changes can be made before shipment and at this step you are unable to cancel the order.256 gb/ silver. Got a txt message 2 days ago stating my order was preparing to be shipped. Status of order has remained “in process” since ordered.
Wait, so you cannot request a package to be held at the main facility? That sucks.
If pick up is missed on Friday we should be able to ahve held for next day and pick it up at local office?
Sounds like what a lot of big brand guitar stores do when they send fedex, I have to wait for an initial delivery attempt before I can route it to a ship center for pick-up. Who knows??
I guess thats more of a recent policy, but i was able to have them hold my 3GS....although it might have been UPS if i remember correctly.FedEx won't let you hold for pickup until they at least attempt to deliver it once.
