It must be based at least a little on location I guess. I’m still in progress and I ordered at 3:15
AT&T uses Fedex, UPS and USPS for delivery. It's not only Fedex. That will depend on your country/region.
I tried to order via the mobile app as soon as the Apple Store went live but couldn't finish without errors. I was able to place the order at 3:19 EST via the Apple website on desktop, which had a delivery range of Nov 17 - Nov 24. I had already started queuing up for the AT&T site and got through, and still showed launch delivery. I was able to place the order for the same model (256 GB Silver) at 3:45 AM with AT&T. The delivery date still shows as Nov 3, and the status changed to 'Preparing to ship' Sunday at 1 PM EST. I ended up canceling the Apple order just before the bulk shipping fix Friday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it goes through without a hitch.
But you should be able to pick it up from the main FedEx location if it’s open after hours
Someone mentioned they are possibly doing status updates by region. In FL and I have a silver 256 gb with a 3:07am eastern order confirmation 11/3 delivery date... that is still in progress. Some other posters have order confirmations 4:00am-5:30am ish getting preparing for shipping notifications.
Failed miserably with Apple (both app and website). After a 16 ish minute wait I was able to enter and order (256 GB SG) through ATT site. Confirmation shows 3:55 ET with Est ship date 11/2 - 11/10. Still in Progress.
Silver 256gb placed at 427 am is 'preparing to ship' for Nov. 3rd.
I'm excited I got launch day given all the errors trying to order thru Apple and the fact that my 7 decided to totally shut down at 252 am on pre-order day so I also couldn't get in thru the app.

I have the exact same situation. I will cancel my Apple order once I get tracking information. Otherwise I would be screwed until god knows.
Order 256 space grey within 5 mins of launch and a silver 256 about 2 hours later with both phones scheduled to be delivered on 11/3
My space grey was showing preparing to ship that very night
The silver 256 just changed from processing to preparing to ship this morning

Guess that debunks the whole region thing.. What gives my order was placed at 3:07am eastern with a delivery date of 11/3 and im in FLA. Last checked still in progress. Im done checking att for order status. If I don't get it release day so be it.
In past years AT&T has always shipped preorders from a distribution center in Texas, so normally you don't get the actual tracking information until the day before expected delivery. At least thats how it was last year and the year before..

Hahah I know that all too well and do enjoy my time with her but no, she will not be... so my disappointment comes from having to entertain myself potentially all day since I believe the delivery requires a signature. No pre-signing available for iPhone deliveries. Sorry. I am working from home on Friday myself and hoping mine gets delivered earlier rather than later. Sometimes on I-day it is around lunch time and others it is after 4.
Ordered 64GB Silver on Friday morning for delivery 11/3 after Apple Store disaster. Should've ordered two because Apple reservation could not be fulfilled on a 64GB Space Grey due to a problem with AT&T Next eligibility and they could not recheck it for the reservation. Had to order from AT&T and now SG is due 11/24-12/04.
Is that is an AT&T delivery thing? This is the first year I have pre-ordered from AT&T but for all previous iPhones through Apple I have been able to pre-signed no problem.
