No what I did was buy it full retail and returned it the second I bought it and had them do a new transaction with a NEXT 12 plan. Somebody had mentioned something about a lag time for restock which may be the case and I don't know if they gave me a different phone then what was tied to my original retail order but I left with a phone on NEXT and ultimately paid the $57 or so in sales tax. If you have the funds to temporarily purchase for retail (it'll take 3-5 days for the money to go back in to your account) I had success doing it this way.

You have to cancel your AT&T order before you order on Apple, buy it full retail, and when you go in and they scan your email make sure you tell them what you want to do BEFORE they sell you the phone and open the box. it makes it easier on them and they can still sell it to someone else as unopened/brand new. Also, this method may be contingent on them having 2 of your model in stock as I don't believe the sold me the same device. The online order/pickup sticker was not on the box I left with.
If you signed up for a two-year commitment, why did you have to pay $649?
I just found stock at a local Apple store, too. I canceled my pre-order online and my line was eligible for the upgrade again within a few minutes. I'm picking up my Gold 64GB Plus today. Can't believe what a mess AT&T made of this.

Just wanted to let you all know that I am back from the apple store and I highly suggest you all do the same thing. I cancelled my bulls**** AT&T order this morning at 7:00 sharp and quickly reserved my 6+ SG 64gb at an apple store an hour away. Got there at 9:00 and was the 1st in line for pick ups. There was a pretty long line to get into the store as a regular customer and they weren't letting them in until 10:00.
Got in, got out and best of all....I'm not waiting on the nonsense of AT&T anymore!
GO DO THIS IF YOU CAN!!!!
I'd expect more messages from people who got tracking. I have a feeling this Monday shipment is gonna be light and most of us will miss out on it again.
My guesstimate is that a good portion of 6+ will arrive by Wednesday of next week.
So what's the 877 # deal?

12:25 EST my iphone 6 plus SG 64g was shipped from Fort Worth Texas and will arrive Monday. I'm a premier customer and ordered with NEXT. My pre order email confirmation came through at 2:52 AM EST which was a little before the pre order launch was supposed to begin. My I was getting frustrated and called the 877 number when I saw someone called and it no longer said back ordered for them. Same for me now, and I have a tracking number through FedEx on the att.com site. Not even an hour ago the premier order status site showed no changes. My last update for shopping date was Monday I think for 10/2-10/13
