Check throughout the day.. Fedex and UPS deliver all day. You wouldn't want to cancel your order and get screwed. At least now we know you can do your next, just gotta call AT&T after the fact.


The apple rep I'm talking to isn't much help. She tried to send me to AT&T and I was like well this is an Apple issue, your stores are the ones turning people away. She is now telling me it will take 5 days for my refund to go active if I cancel a preorder...

I don't think I'll have the option to order as an upgrade (I didn't on Apple's website). Since I'm a Next member, I'm not sure if the option to switch to a 2 year deal will be available through Apple. Probably going to stop by just to see what happens.
 
I'm sure glad my preorder cancellation was unsuccessful. I wouldve been pissed if that happened but I wouldve bought the phone on a 2 year contract then went to att and made them change it before activating.

do you guys think that because I can't cancel my preorder it means it shipped or about to ship ?

Maaannnn...I was going to go to Apple Store about an hour away today and buy one and cancel my order at the store. Good thing I read this...I am on the NEXT plan and I would have blown a gasket if I arrived at Apple store and they told me that.
 
Yep - this is what I thought too. I wasn't going to argue with Apple.. I know she is just reading it from notes.

Apple rep just told me to cancel my order and then wait for the upgrade to reset.. then place a new order.

Considering this is what I told her I was going to do already.. she hasn't helped me a bit. I just want to know if they can process the damn next orders in store.

I just went through the cancellation with ATT via chat. The cancellation took few min and the upgrade eligibility was restored almost immediately.
 
After A half hour wait of nothing this is what I'm told

I really wish apple wasn't valuing its store so highly. I get they make the iPhone, but all the phones that are available in store for pickup should really be used to fulfill pre orders. I will be driving 40 mins to get my phone today but it shouldn't be this way Apple.

Haha. I just got transferred three times. Here is just a bit of my convo.

Jrnation: I'm currently not a next user though.

Jrnation: But.. due to the $40 a month line you all are forcing everyone to become next users

Jrnation: So... can I just go do a 2 year upgrade and then call/ go to m local AT&T store and have them change my plan for me?

Jasmine R.: If you upgrade on Next or 2yr contract your bill will increase.

Jrnation: .... I know. That's why I asked since.. Apple can't do NEXT plans (even thought their website says they can and from what I've heard its your policy that screws them) can I get the phone with them, it would be an upgrade and then have you all switch my line to AT&T next

That is exact paragraph the rep told me this morning, but then the rep came back and said he/she can do it. It was cancelled after few min.

It sounded like, it's a standard response. Perhaps, try to avoid cancelling order?
 
I spoke with Apple. They said if you want to go ATT next. Just order iPhone as an "upgrade" if you are on mobile share plan.

After receiving your iPhone call ATT and they will correct it for you and put you on ATT NEXT.

But buddy, here is what I didn;t thin about when you said that... you're paying for your phone twice. With the NEXT they charge you monthly for the phone.. but don't charge you up front or an activation fee. If you get the new phone from Apple under a 2 year upgrade you're playing an activation fee and the $299 or whatever for the phone you want. How would you get the money back? AT&T wouldn't refund it since you got it from Apple.

Excellent point. Walk-ins the day after a launch should not be able to get iPhones before loyal customers who wake up at 3am on a work day to preorder their latest device.

I then checked my order status on AT&T, and it says that my phone has shipped!

I ordered a iPhone 6 Plus 128GB Space Gray and had the estimated shipping dates of 10/2-10/13.

Just now, I got an email from AT&T saying my phone has shipped!
 
I was thinking the same thing but I thought AT&T can credit that amount to my account or to my next monthly installments. Thats the least they can do after this mess

Good point... I guess I'll have to call AT&T and talk to them or something. The chat person was.... not nice.. to say the least.

Did anyone notice that att next pricing is higher on apple website? $37 vs $31 for i6+ 16gb. Plus there is no option to actually add to cart, it just shows pricing for all models , how do u proceed??

Btw, I cancelled my preorder and apple rep did confirm that they could do NEXT IN stores. Not sure what u all are saying.

Mine still says processing and preparing to ship on the website. Not sure about an email since I am not the account holder but damn. Fort Worth, I'd drive out there for my phone. It's like an hour and a half away but definitely worth it
 
I ordered a 6 + gold 16gb & have been stuck on the 10/13/14-10/22/14 date since my order was placed on 9/12/14 at 6:05 AM.

I just called ATT for the heck of it & the rep told me that my particular model was back ordered because 4 million of that same model were ordered last week #


I'm hoping I get some good news soon since I see some of you who ordered the + are getting tracking numbers today
 
Last year on the Apple site,the stock updates were done at 10 pm for me and like you said,needed to be done quickly. As time passes,more stock will be available. Its a great option.

I just cancelled mine and it was quick. When you click cancel and you will get another email to confirm your cancellation. After the cancellation confirmation is completed you will get 2 more emails within a couple seconds. One is a cancellation submitted and then preorder canceled. If you go back to the email with order status link and click it again it will show that it was canceled. Upgrade eligibility was restore instantly.

Everyone keep checking daily on apple.com for availability for your local store. Early today it showed unavailable for everything but this evening a couple came back in stock but sold out quick.

Upgrade Eligibility

How long once ATT cancels your order that your number is back eligible for an upgrade?

My 6+ sg 16gb was sitting there in the 10/13-10/22 window. I look at my local Apple store (MD) and they have them in stock, available for pickup today. So I call ATT and cancel my preorder, was told it is instant, and an hour later it says I'm still not eligible for an upgrade.
