I assume this will all change but really AT&T...
Mine changed to 9/17-9/18 as well - so much better then our earlier estimates! I was close to canceling my order Saturday, but then Apple's iPhone 6 ship dates slipped online as I was about to call AT&T to cancel. I ordered an iPhone 6 Space Grey w/64g at approx 3:30 EST AM via AT&T. Fingers crossed, but I'd put money on our phones arriving 9/19.
This is the first time not ordering through Apple for pre-order, but I wanted to get back to bed - so I pulled the trigger w/AT&T since their website was cooperating. Probably the last time I order through AT&T since they are incapable of collaborating with Apple and shipping carriers to keep themselves and customers updated. I agree some of us, including me, could be more patient. But with AT&T being as large as they are, this is unacceptable that they cannot have a more collaborative supply chain and better customer service. It would not be that hard if they tried.
Mine said est shipping date sep 18-22 and now says this

Nah, mine says the same thing and went from initial ship dates of 10/2-10/13 to backordered. It's screwy but I think things will start changing next week...at least I hope so.iPhone 6 64GB Space Gray

Previously it said estimated ship dates between 9/23-10/02 but I checked now and it's back to 9/17-9/18, WHEW!
This is the only thing that gives me hope that this information is wrong as I ordered the exact same device about 29 minutes earlier and yet my **** is "backordered"
My 16 GB 6 (Space Gray) is now showing as shipping on 9/17-9/18 on AT&T's site. It originally had said 10/13-10/31, so I'm pretty happy.

A little heads-up
I upgraded 5 phones at 4:30am cst on the 12th. In each case the order was processed and the order status appeared ok (other than the fact that there was no expected ship date). I received confirmation emails in each case with order numbers. On the 13th I get an email that the cc was declined on one of the orders. It's a cluster to fix that through the premier website but I managed by phone. This morning I go to a restaurant for my wifes birthday and the cc I used for the iPhones is declined by the rest. I call the cc company (US Bank) and find out that they'd been declining charges since the 11th with no phone call. I ask about the iPhone charges from ATT and 3 of the 5 had been declined. Luckily they tried again multiple times and for some reason US Bank eventually approved the charges. Here's the kicker... the fraud prevention department has basically flagged all these cards used at Home Depot because of the security breach. I had to terminate the card on the spot. They're sending me new ones. Luckilly the ATT charges were approved or I'd have had to cancel my orders and redo them. FYI just in case anyone used a US Bank Flexperks card that might have been used at one of the many outlets that have been breached recently..
Here's a big shoutout to ATT & US Bank for turning a simple phone purchase into the headache of the decade. ATT gets the rub for the system crashing mutliple times while I entered the orders, appearing to have processed the charges but didn't, having no way to update my orders through the website & displaying pointless, innacurate shipping info....

My order status on the ATT site did say I was supposed be getting the phone on release date and that it was preparing for shipment, but now it says processing and there's no date anymore...
I even got two texts saying it was done processing. Weird that it would take a step back. Hopefully it's just a mistake.

My husband finally got bumped up from end of November to 10-13 to 10-22. I got bumped up from mid October to first week of October, which is where I started, I think. Weird. Both orders were placed before 3 am ET. Hubby's was placed before mine but I've consistently had better dates than he's gotten. I'm not tracking it that closely other than to make sure the orders don't disappear altogether somehow.
We like AT&T customer service at our local store, and overall service. This is our first preorder experience with them though. If not for the info provided by you all on this forum I think we wouldn't have taken the odd bouncing dates and confusing texts as calmly as we have. Thanks!

Pretty sure that the ones that say "backordered" are 6+ phones. I'm guessing AT&T hasn't gotten any from apple so far and are expecting them early next week. From the sounds of it, it seems that the ones that say "backordered" will be the first to ship when they get the phones in stock. The one's that have a later october date may ship later than the launch date.
This is based on the information that the people who ordered the earliest, myself included, are going to "backordered" and the people who ordered a few hours later of the preorder have an October shipping date. I bet this will get sorted out tomorrow when they get phones in stock.

So I have 2 iPhone 6+ and their ship date dropped to 10/2-10/13. My regular iPhone 6 still at 10/13-10/31. Ordered all of them around 12:45am PT on 9/12.
