Ordered mine 9/12 around 11:30 CST. It's currently showing a shipping date of 9/23 - 10/2. Let's see if that date stands.

You have to step up your game and set your alarm for 2 AM on launch day...

The whole fiasco with apple being hard to order from and the carriers being slammed, then people not wanting to wait for the ship times, then cancelling with the carriers to order from apple or switching carriers has got to make the bullseye constantly move. I was running 5 devices to get my orders placed, ultimately had 6 orders confirmed by the time 345am EST came around on 9/12. 4 were cancelled with my first 2 from ATT staying in place. Imagine if you were in charge of operations at ATT and you had new orders coming in, orders you had already processed, and orders being cancelled constantly, all the while, Apple is probably shifting around inventory allocations throughout the day. Hence why we have seen movement in ship dates, backorders, etc. My guess is that ATT or any other carrier will not have a solid distribution schedule until tomorrow or Wednesday. I want my new phone on Friday as much as the next guy and according to what I have as far as info goes, that will happen. But these situations are logistical nightmares. We all want to believe that these companies have done this enough to learn from their mistakes, but NONE of us, except those that work in supply chain at each company, knows what is going on in the background.

Just want to provide a little positive history here.

I've done the AT&T pre-order thing a few times and although I can't say this will ring true for everybody, here are a couple of things that seem to be the trend.

First is that AT&T tends to (or at least used to) basically ship launch-day phones using two-day shipping. In my experience essentially the phone ships Wednesday and arrives Friday if you have a launch day delivery in the works . So, it wasn't until Wednesday the shipping info and tracking number went out. I do remember lots of stories about other people getting tracking numbers earlier than that (and I wished I was one of them) but without fail it all came together Wednesday and phone arrived Friday.

Second, last year I remember a lot of people who had late estimated ship dates (like for a gold 5s) that were dates like October 11. In many, many cases phones arrived way faster than that...so there's hope for the October people to see a September phone IMO (but no guarantees, obviously).

And last, a few years ago there were some reports that the phone came early (Thursday). I believe these were Apple Store shipments (not AT&T), were very rare, and were essentially a mistake that I believe is unlikely to be repeated.

Again, I obviously can't promise anything, but I suspect that we'll see the 9/19 orders go out 9/17 and that many with the deliveries schedule in October to get bumped back to earlier.

:)

The most sane post I've read in this thread!

ReallY?!? Not receiving what is essentially a new toy RIGHT AWAY is your idea of a nightmare?!

Some of you people sound like children.

Probably one of those same people that post around Christmastime...

I didn't get an iPad for Christmas. My parents suck, I hate them. Worst Christmas Ever!

That being said, it is a little frustrating to not be one of the first kids on the block with a new toy when you do what you can to make it happen. I get that.

THAT being said, my 12:05AM pre-order says

Preorder Processing
Expected Ship Date: 09/17/2014 To 09/18/2014
but I'm having it sent to my mom's house out of town, since I'll be traveling on Friday. I won't get mine until Friday night when I get there. All day long without my new iPhone!

TRULY A NIGHTMARE!

*For iPhone 6. 6+ may be a different story, though better then the mid-late October estimates.

AT&T Premier is the business/enterprise website....different from the consumer AT&T site. Most business orders and certain FAN (employee discount accounts) require you to order through that site...

Yeah, it's weird. I ordered on Premier (consumer FAN account), but then my order was assigned a new order number and I have to use the AT&T regular order status site to check. It's like it was moved or something.

Just cancelled my 2 orders I had placed around 2:50AM CST on Friday morning for iPhone 6+ 64GB Silver. The first order showed no status update, just in progress, and the 2nd order showed an esitmated ship date of 11/9-11/27. I got in for a T-Mobile version at Apple, so decided to cancel these. On the other hand I also ordered a 128GB Silver regular iPhone 6 off contract/full retail from Verizon yesterday and it has already shipped.

So you bought 6 phones outright or had 6 upgrades available?

2 phones ordered, both moments after pre-orders opened, via ATT:

6, 128, sg: went from ships 9/17-9/18 for arrival on 9/19, to backordered, and then back to ships 9/17-9/18 for arrival on 9/19.

6+, 128, gold: went from ships oct 13-22 to ships oct 3-13

Glad I didn't cancel either order.

how do you guys do the fedex shipping? I tried my order number and nothing really works even tho mine says 9/18 ship date. Thanks everyone

Issues?

My shipping date says November and I'm okay with that. It sure beats sitting in line with a bunch of crazies at the mall waiting on a blue shirt Apple Store dork that makes 15 times less money than me ordering me around because they feel empowered selling Apple products.

I just canceled my order for an iPhone 6+128 GB iPhone. I talked to the customer service rep who confirmed that my phone was on backorder and would not ship till late November. I canceled my order and ordered it through the Apple store. Now shipping 3 to 4 weeks.

I had 6 orders get processed. As they were all happening at the same time, the systems didn't catch that I only had 2 upgrades. ATT cancelled 2 of the orders, as they were duplicates (16 6 and 64 6) and Apple contacted me saying they were having difficulties processing my upgrade. I just ignored them and they were ultimately cancelled.

The back end systems weren't able to keep up with everything going on.

64gb gold 6 Plus, ordered at 11:52AM PST through ATT.
The order is under Business Direct or Premier whatever it calls. Shipping date moves from 10/3 to 10/11. ATT sucks, but what I can do now, I should just switch carrier. I'm wayyy beyond disappointed or angry, I don't give a shyt now.

YOUR store only got space gray.Mine got all 3 in each size. But I get your point.

Have you ever participated in a launch before? Last year, the gold version of the phone wasn't even at the Apple Store for launch. 100s of people lining up, and my store only got 3 silver iphone 5s. There was 1 64GB gold phone, but that was it. AT&T stores only got space gray models.

They absolutely take preorders without the phone being available at launch.

They also take preorders sight unseen. You cannot even go to an apple store now to check out the phones prior to buying.

It was the iPhone 4 that was delivered a day early. I got mine a full day early via UPS from ATT!

My sister & I ordered 64 gb plus space grays about a minute or 2 apart, mine from att, hers from Verizon. All of her confirmations have said 9/19, I just got bumped up to 10/13 from November. I figured she'd get an email apologizing for a delay at some point, but she just got a shipping confirmation with a tracking number & I'm the one that took the day off to sign for them! I was cool up until I saw her shipping confirmation.

The $1 hold dropped yesterday and the $219.99 dropped today. But of course the $219.99 remains authorized.

Anybody else have more than one $1 charge on their credit card?
I've got one for $60+ and then three more for $1 each, all on 9/12.
Only one phone ordered.

----------

An hour is an ETERNITY during initial ordering.

So, despite my commitment to myself to just wait it out... I chatted with AT&T this morning. Long story short, we have two orders of identical phones (Space Grey 6 64GB) both placed within the first hour of preorders (one at 0304 and the other at 0355, both EDT). The first one, 1912* has always showed 09/19 delivery (my wife's phone... of course). My phone, 1626*, initially showed 09/19, but on Saturday the order date changed to 09/13, and it started showing 10/13/14-10/31/14. Today's chat with the AT&T rep (very helpful by the way) yielded that, in their internal system, both phones show 09/19 delivery (unless he was lying... totally could have been the case). Here is the relevant chat blob:

So MAYBE those dates don't mean as much as we think they mean?
