I like how the people who order multiple phones then cancel and re order are wondering why the dates change and they get mad... Hmm I don't know why on earth they can't get their inventory together

most definitely! I was bummed to see I was part of the 9/23-10/2 shipping, but knew canceling and moving around to Apple wasn't gonna change my ship time.

I still think the 9/23-10/2 shipping range is bs for the most part and those folks will get their phone Friday. Then again who knows with ATT's witchcraft system.

So here is why it was an hour... I did my wife's first. It was so fast (check eligibility, select phone, enter CC, confirm) that I didn't realize it went through. I spent the next 30 minutes trying to order for her, getting the "Inelligible for upgrade." Stupid me... not until I got her confirm did I order mine. Gimme a break, it was 3am!
Order process was smooth though. I have no complaints there. I always order through AT&T and have never been disappointed.
I blame apple. if they had gotten their store up and running thru the app and online, I think a lot of these issues would be a bit less. I only ordered thru att because I couldnt get anything working thru apple. I wasn't able to get an order processed until 325am EST. by that point, I was panicking.
my orders changed to 9/17-9/18 yesterday. so I was relieved.
I am ALL IN for this solution. I need the sleep!

Pre-ordered 2 iPhone 6 - 64gb on the 12th at 4:15 am, within 10 minutes of each other.
Phone 1 - Has always said 9/17 - 9/18 ship date
Phone 2 - Initially said 9/23 - 10/2 ship date..... Changed this morning to 9/17 - 9/18 and is now matching Phone 1

You're right so far. Both orders (16GB and 64GB) now show 9/23-10/2 (different yesterday with backordered on one). I already got UPS my choice notification for one of them w/delivery 9/19

To add to my post. at&t has also charged my credit card twice for the taxes on the phones (purchased both using NEXT)

I suggest you see the other reply to that anecdotal post. Several outlets received all 3.Even RS had choices.

the crazy thing for me is 1. I won't be home until the Sunday after to even put my hands on the phone. 2. While I am excited about getting a new phone, my 5 is dying a slow death, I am not really THAT excited about the 6, other than Apple Pay.
I got one of the many cases I am going to test drive in on Saturday and was like wow. This is really big in my little dainty man hands. I don't know if I am gonna like this. So I am not 100% sold on the new phone and may even just move to the 5S. I will probably return my wife's 16-6, she grabbed the case and was like, no way.

Anything is possible, but highly unlikely. the shipping carriers are notified to hold all shipments until launch day. some could fall thru the cracks, but it's unlikely.

But I couldn't get to sleep until 430am!

It's possible, it's happened infrequently on past iPhone pre-orders. It's not likely, though. Keep hope alive!

Well, I believe you were the exception that day. Not the rule. I'll dig up articles to support my anecdotal memory.
No question. But thankfully AT&T was a fallback option. Imagine how many orders they (originally) lost but have now recovered due to delayed shipping times from AT&T. I was shocked AT&T went live as early as it did. I got through at 255am and others got through at 246am. But the order took under a minute.

Look at the countless threads from last year ... and search Radio Shack on this forum for a few minutes.
We go through this every year. It's like this is the first time anybody has ever bought an iPhone.

I did read the posts last year when they were current. RS had a choice of phones where I got mine and also AT&T had choices at both stores I am familiar with in my small burg.

I ordered at 4 am EST, original date on Att.com -ship date 10/13-10/31. I also received email at 526 am stating my phone should ship with arrival on 9/19.
Today, ATT.com gives dates of 9/17-9/18. It's a Premier account, not sure if that makes a difference.... I get it when I get it, no big deal.
Although, I'm kicking myself for not ordering 6+
Guess I will get the 6+S next year
