That is quite annoying! I've just eBayd my 3Gs so I can afford to buy a 4 on PAYG so i can keep my nice cheap SIM only tariff. Im surviving with a broken 2g at the moment and if there aren't any white ones I'm going to have to wait. I'm not a fan of the black ones.

Don't most people put cases on them anyway? As a rough estimate, I'd say I see about 75% of current iPhones in cases, so I don't know why the color matters much if all you'll see is the screen.

Never had and never broke one, to me cases take away the cool look of the iphone, and the new one is just way to cool with all the glass to be behind a cheap rubber case. :D

Boy does this throw a wrench in the fan. You have got to be kidding me!? I just hope this is AT&T only. I had decided on Apple pre order in store pick up. If we can't get a white one at launch.........:(

No matter how much you might be disappointed in having to have black, look on the bright side, it could ALWAYS be WORSE....

I will truly flip my schit if the white is not available for preorder (from Apple) tomorrow. I couldn't care less what crappy AT&T is offering. Why the hell wouldn't the white be available (what difference in manufacturing has to occur to make white?).

My guess is that the carriers don't expect the white to be that popular, so maybe they don't want to be stuck with a glut of phones people don't want.

I think the white iPhone 4 was decided on later on... because out of all of the leaks... the white parts didn't show up until right before WWDC. Maybe that is why they are behind on manufacturing them.

I am getting black anyway. My Hackintosh desktop PC is silver and black, the monitor is black, my computer desk is black and silver. I think a black and steel iPhone fits right in to my color scheme.

Apple produces the iPhone, how is this AT&T's fault? I'm pretty sure Apple is pulling the strings on this one.

You inferred that I said this was someone's "fault" since I never said anything of the kind. All I said was that AT&T has used "later this summer" before and it spurned many angry messages on this board. Something has to be up of AT&T is the only provider without access to a white IPhone. I'll call fakies on this one.

What about the people saying white won't be available via T-Mobile Germany and SoftBank?

"White will available at a later date."

Right there tells me this is a hoax. At&t would have proofed that headline. It should be "White will be available at a later date."

I think all the leaks were black because that's the color Apple chose for the Prototypes. Nothing would say iphone prototype louder than White. Black has a certain commonality to it that requires a lot more verification as to the source.
I'm sure Apple intended to have a white option all along - like they have since the 3G.

That doesn't even make any sense. I can't believe people are still posting stuff like this.

Same here. It is called a production run. I think they know that the white colored iPhone 4's are going to sell in less numbers than the white ones and they are keeping the complexity of their lines down for the launch.

For me, it always a Johnny Cash iPhone. Black phone in a black case even covering the silver Apple. I don't want my iPhone to stick out when I use it in a crowd.

If this is true, then why did most of the "hands on" youtube videos from right after the conference have white iphones?
Obviously they've made it through production...just fine...

confused...

Have they ever been stuck with a "glut" of iphones on launch day in the past? LOL

And maybe the white ones had QC issues like last year's so they're going back to be re-done... who knows. Since in the past the white backed iphones have had black fronts and black buttons, I'm wondering how prone the new white\clear home button will be to discoloration overtime.

HAHA

AT&T only.

I was just at bestbuy and apple store and they will carry all models at launch and for pre-order.
