Firstly, some of you need to realise there is sentient life outside of North America.

Secondly, the Vodafone (UK) plans showed an intention to sell black and white iPhones... so if it's real, the 'white exclusively from Apple' argument can go out of the window.
Sorry, many Yanks forget that there's an entire world outside of the United States if the Olympics aren't on the telly.

Not all Americans are like that, however I apologize on their behalf. It's just a narrow jingoistic worldview and inexcusable ignorance, not maliciousness. It's downright embarrassing, to say the least.

Good thing I'm going for black this time around! I've had my white iPhone 3G for almost two years now, and the whiteness is old to me

****ing seriously? If Apple dropped the ball on this one (meaning that white isn't available anywhere initially) then I am going to be pretty upset. Guess that means no launch day iPhone 4 for me. And September qualifies as "late summer."

Are the pre-orders shipped in the timeline orders are received?
Because...otherwise, why would it matter what time you order it tomorrow?

yeah like I said, I have no idea how these pre-orders work since I typically don't care about having something new the second it's produced. However, I'm going to Spain for a month on June 30, and the bottom half of my 3G has been shattered since november. If there's some type of first come first serve deal with the pre-orders, I wanna make sure I'm one of the first. I mean if Apple only has X amount of them physically on hand to ship on June 24, and you're X+1, I'd think you don't get it right away, which is something I can't have. Besides, what's the harm in playing it safe just in case? Besides THAT, I'll be up for the world cup at 7 anyway...

Well, %^$&#@@. I guess I will continue to run down the ETF charge my current carrier is going to level on me when I leave. With any luck I can get my iPhone from Verizon at this rate. :(:(:(Phffffft. OR just see if Apple Store has them in white. Yea, that's the ticket. I don't get back home until June 25 anyway, the crowds will be gone and I bet they can hook me up there at the Apple Store. :):):)

Who do you think designs those pictures? Every country has the same graphic, get out much? You need to realize (yeah a z not an s) that the UK doesn't sit very high on the "cutting edge of technology" list... so maybe you should ask where Vodaone gets their pictures.... Apple.

Man, you have all the answers!

I think you completely missed what I said. I'm not referring to stock pictures of the iPhone. Screenshots taken from a page on Vodafone's site referred to at least 'iPhone 4 16GB White plans' and 'iPhone 4 32GB Black plans'.

Anyone find it odd that the leaked Vodafone tariffs explicitly say 'White iPhone 4?'

This is good news.

If they really were smart and wanted to make sure only cool people got white iPhones they would require you to show them your current white iPhone to buy one, and then mark it with a special fluorescent ink so old 3G and 3GS phones could not be used to try and make everyone get cool white ones.

Anyone considered that maybe they decided to get rid of those holes above the earpiece on the white one, and therefore held off on it? Just a thought...

I do find it hilarious that people who wanted white will get black now because they can't wait a month or 2 at most for the one they really want. The instant gratification complex of some people is a trip. I just hope these da*n things don't sell out or something. Not experienced with pre-orders, but I'll be up before 7 to make sure I don't have an issue.

haha then why not wait a week or two to get yours instead of getting up early and waiting at the store prior to 7am?? Instant gratification???? It's ok, we know...

Understood. But where on Vodaphone's website does it say "Order Today and we Guarantee Delivery of your White iPhone 4G on June 24th" ?????

Just like AT&T, this is all pre-order, not a guarantee of any kind. they can't guarantee enough to go around, so they wouldn't dare put any of that wording in writing, so to say the website will assure you'll get a white one on launch day is inaccurate.

If this is true, it kind of makes me feel better that my upgrade date isn't till August 29th!

Is anyone else here who was on the fence about getting white or black now getting white just because maybe they can't have it?

Or is it just me?

:p

I wonder how many are going to switch to white so they be "exclusive"? Probably the same sort of person who thinks the iPhone shouldn't be sold at Wal-Mart.

<insert hatred for AT&T here>

i think it's probably a supply issue from apple. that being said, how different can the manufacturing process be for a white iphone vs. a black iphone?

also, they should have phrased this differently: "iphone 4 to come in all colors so long as it's black"

Im getting the Black one but either way this is bad form by both ATT&T and Apple (if it's true that is). Reason being is because a lot of people have been extremely excited to get their phones on the 24th and now have to wait. And with less than 24 hours notice mind you. I know that if I were told that the Black version was not available I would NOT be happy.

Ok. So if this is true, why hasn't ATT said anything about it? Remember, this was released from Modmyi.com, not ATT. There are liable to be a lot of angry people come tomorrow who might go to or call up ATT to pre-order and then find out that they won't have any white ones available.
