AT&T Says iPhone 4 to Be Initially Available Only in Black?

Just like AT&T, this is all pre-order, not a guarantee of any kind. they can't guarantee enough to go around, so they wouldn't dare put any of that wording in writing, so to say the website will assure you'll get a white one on launch day is inaccurate.

And if you read what I've written, you'll realise you've just jumped the gun. I said the image showed an intention to sell both colours, but I did not specify any date or guarantee.

All will be revealed in a few hours, and we'll see who the winners and the losers are.

I'm not surprised. It was Gawker who broke the lost e-mail story, not AT&T fessing up first.

Well it looks like verizon isn't getting any white ones in on the 24th either!! :p

IF this rumor is even true, I find it funny that people still blame every little thing that happens on ATT.

Seriously... your first argument was the image wasn't what showed the intention to sell both, that it was "the plan", then when I told you the website doesn't show the availability of both then you said it was the images that showed the intention... WTF... pick a story and stick to it.

Bottom line is if you don't like it, find a German based company who manufacturers top-tier smart phones and order from them... lol

haha what makes you think I'm going to physically go to a store? I'm not getting up abnormally early to do this. I'm going to pre-order it online like anyone else. And if you didn't see my original post, my 3G has been shattered since november and I'm going to Spain for a month on June 30. Since I'll be using the iPod part a ton during that time, I really want to make sure it isn't sold out or something. I don't see what's hard to understand about this?

Big difference in replaced a 2 year old phone that has been next to worthless for 7 months, and replacing a 3GS just because i want a new toy...

Americans love to have a sense of entitlement and always blame everyone except for themselves. We will only be a great country again when we take responsibility for our own actions and improve ourselves rather than try to penalize those who don't coddle us.
 
what does this mean for FAN account holders? i was planning on pre-ordering a white one through AT&T. my FAN provides for a 25% base plan discount as well as 25% off of the new 200MB/2GB data plans. would i be able to pre-order through Apple and still apply my FAN on both the base plan and data? or would i have to mess with this "take the FAN off then have AT&T re-apply after purchasing" shennanigans i've heard about?

Since my first post in my thread, that is the image I was referring to because it was also featured on MacRumors and Engadget. Other people seemed to understand. Hopefully you won't sound quite so confused now.

I do speak english, lol. It's not an issue of understanding. Sure you can pre-order an iPhone in white, great... my point is there's no guarantee that if you pre-order in white, black pink, or zebra-stripe, that you'll GET it on launch day. The debate in this thread is if there's a delay. Nobody is guaranteed anything to be delivered. Supply issues are supply issues. All you're doing is ordering it before it's released. I pre-ordered an iPad and got an email saying it'll be delivered a week after release date.... pre-order doesn't mean anything aside from when they have one for you they'll ship it to you.

Nice typo. This is either fake or awfully embarrassing.

Also, the keynote made it clear that iPhone 4 will only come in a 32GB model.

And if something isn't available at launch (short of supply issues c.f. iPad), it won't be available for (pre-)order. If this story's source is true, AT&T won't be offering the white for pre-order until later in the summer. If Vodafone is offering the white for pre-order, there is an implication it will be available on launch day (subject to delays) or shortly thereafter, but significantly sooner than 'later in the summer'.

Edit: There is a huge difference between the purported position of AT&T and that of Vodafone, if indeed it's true.
 
At least it's not available only in white at launch. I'm sure it's nice looking but the white iPhone seems a bit '14 year old girl' to me.

It seems like a no-brainer to me to order what I want from Apple and have it shipped to my door... standing in line at the AT&T store sounds like a nightmare to me... especially if there are any glitches in the process.

Besides, I want to be discrete when I receive my white iPhone w/ pink bumper case :D
