If it doesn't include hotspot it's DOA for me. Now if only DirecTV would support AirPlay already.

I'm confused... isn't this the same exact deal as if you have directv??? i have directv and 8 lines with ATT..

im paying as follows:

60-15(fan) 45 for first line.
40 for lines 2,3,5,6,7 ..4th line is free but 8th line isn't so we stopped at 7. does this new offering save us any money? bill is right around $325-ish.

Why Stream Saver for videos when everyone else is giving unlimited with HD video?

Stream saver is optional. It's useful when you have a limited data plan but they're making it on by default on unlimited plans to reduce the amount of data they have to transfer. My guess is most people wont notice and will leave it on.

"AT&T's $180 price point is after a $40 credit for the fourth smartphone line, which will start after two billing periods. Prior to then, customers will need to pay $220 per month for the plan."

Hell no. AT&T always waits until their hand is forced and then ends up offering the worst deal. I'm going to switch to Verizon this year I think.

I think they are effectively just removing the direct tv requiement (though I haven't read the fine print). It was kind of a BS requirement anyway, if you ask me. Perhaps they will give a discount to those with direct tv moving forward?

I was literally going to go to the T-Mobile store tonight to switch my 4 unlimited lines. This may save me from switching since T-Mobile's coverage is worse where I am. Just don't know if I still want to stick with AT&T based on how they have treated loyal customers

I have 4 phones on my plan but 1 is still under contract with AT&T until October. Can I still get this plan with the 4 phones for $180? Or is there an extra charge for the 4th phone that is still under contract?

Best deal on ATT is 15GB Family plan with FAN discount ($100+15+15+15+15) we never use all 15GB and usually have about 19GB with rollover. 18% off with FAN. this of course is it when you BYOD to avoid that stupid $40 charge per line. Works with NEXT too.

About $140 /4 = $35.20 per line teathering/hotspot and ATT wifi hotspots included.

$220 is crazy expensive, especially if it does not have tethering as well.

I am using the same plan, You have to add fees and tax , so you pay around $150-$160 monthly. How can you get the WIFI hotspots? Do you have to download some kind of app to do so? Thanks.

Sprint just changed their offering for 4 lines for $90 through March 31, 2018.
Any word on how good they actually are? We get four lines for $120 (135-ish after fees) with TMO (happy with their service) but I am all about saving another $30 a month. We are just about to enter escrow and every penny counts lol.

My guess is they hope people who don't notice/don't care will never disable the feature, resulting in less network congestion, while still allowing the people who do care to disable the feature

doesnt seem worthwhile to stay then. especially with the lack of tethering.

You may be right. I would wait for official information. I am just speculating at this point. Tethering isn't really a bonus for us, but the idea that you have it when you need it would certainly sit in the back of my mind.

Right. We have unlimited and have for a while since we have DirecTV. I leave it on for my kids phones and off for the rest. No reason really other than just because they don't notice. I wanted to see if they said anything and so far nothing. Either its not something you really see or they are resilient enough to just keep moving on.

Tethering is a bonus for me since I use a WiFi only iPad on the go. I bought a while back the ZTE Mobley they sell for the connected car plans. It can be added as device on the unlimited plan. Granted you pay for the device like all others but it gives me access to data on my other devices.

is that for sure?
It is for sure.

Logistically, the 25 GB plan is a better deal. You end up paying $160 for 4 lines, get 25GB to share before getting slowed down by stream saver, or you could disable stream saver and continue on with overage at your discretion. Plus, rollover data, so I would imagine most months would be > 25GB.

AT&T Unlimited goes to 22Gig PER LINE before POSSIBLY slowing. We have surpassed 22 before and have still not been slowed.
