Yep same here, was so close to switching, but just couldnt come to terms with even a slight chance of overage.... I`m on 700min Unlimited text($20) and Unlimited data plan, with like 10k Rollover minutes..... So glad this day came ! If they allowed at least some Hot Spot usage that would help, like give us 1gig a month or something. But hey I`ll take my 22GB at Up to 300 Mbps on Band 30 :)

Can anyone share a screen shot of where this is on ATT's website. Not that I am a doubter, but there was very little news about it and I am actually surprised that I can't find this anywhere else other than one or two websites. Nothing comes up on a google search. I just wanted this verified before I do my happy jig!

22GB? Nice!

I wonder how many years until 20GB becomes an issue for the average user?

Glad I stayed with ATT and held onto my UDP.

With customers wanting faster phones and data, and higher resolution screens, pictures, videos... that can equate to larger data consumption on downloads/uploads. Video streaming apps will be updated for higher resolution. Maybe subscription game streaming will be in the future. Apple did it with music... and current gen consoles stream AAA games now. Someday.... some who are justifying why they left their UDP for a shared teired plan, might be regretting dropping their UDP. But it's mainly phone.... not everyone uses data the same way.

It's really a shock to see this considering how badly they want people to get off these unlimited data plans.

I guess T-Mobile has really put some pressure on them. Without the 22gb increase, it was basically like having a 5gb shared data plan, which was starting to become a problem for me and my family. I was seriously looking at leaving AT&T this year, but there wasn't any real financial benefit for me.

I'm less inclined to leave AT&T now, but I sure would like to see a tethering option.
I don't think they are working to hard to get rid of the grandfathered unlimited data users anymore. Just about every time I've had to deal with customer service they advise me to not get rid of it.

Glad to see the increase, even though it probably won't effect me at all. Don't think I've ever been throttled. Hotspot would be nice though, even with a small cost. I'd love to have it for when Time Warner is down.

Interesting, so I just logged in to my ATT account and while on the first page it has minutes listed with Roll Over as 11k, on the view plans and features page it now says:

Interesting -- this is a good development.

I've been a AT&T UDP guy for 7 years and I still am, at least for a few more weeks. I just decided to switch over to T-Mobile and I'm waiting on my 6s+ to arrive. When it does, my plan is to port over my AT&T number and cancel service with AT&T.

For years, I've been saying that I will never give up my UDP. However, after thoroughly crunching the numbers from every angle, I've concluded that it just isn't worth it for our (my wife and me's) particular case. By switching over to T-Mobile, we each get 10 GB of high-speed data a month and music streaming is always free. I can also freely tether as much of that 10 GB as I want, for free. I've never used more than 5 GB in a month and my average is 2-3 GB a month. I'm fully aware that data usage will continue to grow over time.

After running the math and carefully considering every single variable, I am saving $31.50 a month by giving up my AT&T UDP and going with T-Mobile. That comes out to a savings of $378 a year! And when you add up that savings year after year, the savings are huge.

Sure, signal coverage is an unknown until I actually get out there and try it out, but T-Mobile has made tremendous advancements over the last year and continues to do so. I suspect that the coverage differences will be somewhat minimal for the region I'm in.

So, even though I've been a UDP customer for years, I finally did the math and it just doesn't make sense to keep a death grip on something that is actually significantly more expensive in the end. I am super stoked though to see that AT&T is changing their policy. It's great for existing UDP customers and it's the right thing to do.

I've been on Unlimited with AT&T since the 3GS. I said I would never give it up but the throttling after 5 gigs was terrible. But I decided to switch to T-mobile and get The new Iphone 6S and have T-Mobile buy out my contract at AT&T. It ends up being a better deal in long run. I'm paying the same for Unlimted and now will be able to get a new phone each year. I like jump on demand better than Next. But it's awesome AT&T finally decided to change.

Anyway I sliced it, I could not find a better deal, then what I`m paying for 2 lines right now, my total bill with tax is usually 138-140$. Only thing missing is the Hot Spots, that's about it(but if you smart, even with not jailbroken phone it is still possible to use).

Wow! I almost buckled when AT&T doubled their shared data plans (15GB to 30GB) last year but decided to hold on. Thank god! Now I get 22GB of data for only $80 a month ($66 if you count my work discount).
I do the same thing every few months but the unlimited data plan w/ FAN discount is always cheaper than every mobile share plan w/ more than 5GB.

If you use jail broken hotspot att can switch you to a new plan

For a second I regretted changing. But I pay $100 for 20GB Mobile share with a 25% fan discount. $75 + $15 iPhone + $15 iPhone + $10 for iPad. All that is cheaper than my unlimited data was on a single line

For the $75 + $15 iPhone + $15 iPhone + $10 for iPad ($115), does all of that qualify for the fan discount?

Well, now I regret giving up my unlimited data.

I don't. Even with a FAN discount, I was paying almost 4X more than I am now with T-Mobile.

With T-Mobile, I'm getting unlimited minutes, texts, 10GB of data (unused data rolls over for a year), free hotspot tethering, free music streaming, free international text and data, free calls/LTE to/in Canada & Mexico. And I'm averaging speeds of 45Mbps.

Side note, some of you are paying only $20 or even $10 for unlimited messaging? I think I'm still paying $30.

I used to pay $20 but called a few years ago asking them to reduce the price. They gave it to me for $10. Not sure how you are paying $30 since unlimited messaging was $20 at the time.

I just checked, and I am paying $30, because its FamilyTalk I assume? I have two lines.

Edit: I lied, I have 3 Lines. Do they charge per line or are all lines included in one price?
