Interesting, so I just logged in to my ATT account and while on the first page it has minutes listed with Roll Over as 11k, on the view plans and features page it now says:

I had 2 lines at 700 minutes, and it was $59.99 + $9.99/per line....

Yeah, I logged in and see the same thing on our account. This is MAJOR! Unlimited talk, text and data. Holy Christ!!!

I just checked, and I am paying $30, because its FamilyTalk I assume? I have two lines.

Edit: I lied, I have 3 Lines. Do they charge per line or are all lines included in one price?

I only have one line so $30 makes sense I guess? I'd give them a call regardless and ask if they can reduce the price.

$10 might be for 1 line if you talk to AT&T Retention. As for Family Unlimited Text, the lowest is $20 I believe, which you have to call AT&T retention department to get that offer.

I don't. Even with a FAN discount, I was paying almost 4X more than I am now with T-Mobile.

With T-Mobile, I'm getting unlimited minutes, texts, 10GB of data (unused data rolls over for a year), free hotspot tethering, free music streaming, free international text and data, free calls/LTE to/in Canada & Mexico. And I'm averaging speeds of 45Mbps.
What are you paying on t-mobile? I checked a while ago, but I seem to get a better deal with at&t [$100 (30gb)+$15 (iphone)+$15 (note)+$10 (ipad )=$140 with fan discount]

Correct the family texting plan is $30 a month. A lot of people, myself included, have gotten them to reduce the monthly fee for texting to $20.

Thanks for the info. I have 2 iPhones with Unlimited Data and 700 minutes (now unlimited) and $30 for the unlimited messaging. Just called them and they lowered mine down to $20. Now after my 15% FAN I only pay $149.

Not bad for Unlimited all the way on 2 smart phone.

I chatted with a rep, didn't budge. Guess I have to call and talk to retention.

With TMO 3 (or 4 if you got in on the promo) lines is $120 flat, 10GB data per line and a year of rollover. Device "lease" or installment plans are extra.

Right now I am a little upset I gave up unlimited, but with the need to add another line to our account, which would have made the "family plan" not make any sense financially, I could probably just buy a pair of unlimited lines for the money we saved (it's been something like 2.5 years and, if I recall correctly, the savings were $85 per month and even more when we switched from ATT two months ago. Also sold the two lines for $150 each at that time).

a little off topic also, but still with unlimited data.
When going to upgrade to a 2yr this discount pops up on my unlimited data.
Can someone explain what the discount is for, and is it new? It's not the same as the FAN discount I get through my employer is it?

This is great, kudos to at&t!

I have yet to see unlimited talk time on my family talk 700 plan, but I have many rollover minutes so I do not care.

Not gonna lie, this really took me by surprise! I wonder what the catch is...

I haven't read this whole thread, and maybe somebody already mentioned this, but isn't AT&T trying to buy DirecTV? The Comcast/Time Warner merger was killed largely on the backs of people reporting how awful Comcast is to their customers. Maybe AT&T is doing this as a goodwill gesture so no one will raise a stink when they go to grab DirecTV.

Personally, having used AT&T on and off over the years, I wouldn't trust them in the long run. I'm on a Verizon UDP and while Verizon is arguably worse than AT&T, their hands are also more tied by the FCC due to the spectrum buys they made over the years.

For those of you with a FAN and $30 (or $20 from retentions discount) family unlimited messaging, does the FAN discount apply to the messaging package? I'm on the old $5 for 200 messages, and my 20% FAN does make it $4. Just curious if I would be paying $24 (or $16 with retentions discount) if I removed my 200 message plan and switched to family unlimited messaging.

You serious, Clark?

AT&T has owned Directv for 2-3 months now. They even have all the stationary switched.

It depends on the terms of you FAN. Mine applies to talk, text, and data. I've heard others only apply to certain portions, or charges above a certain amount.

Thinking I need to call retentions to ask about that texting discount (I'm paying $30).

I had 2 lines at 450 minutes, for $49.99 + $9.99. Now my account shows 2 lines at unlimited minutes, for $59.99. Seems like the billing explanations are simplified, too. Pretty happy.

When people are switching to other cellular providers do they realize they are giving up $450 per line every two years due to the device subsidy? That alone is worth $18.75 every month. Of course, you need to upgrade through Att.com to take advantage of it.

Yes.

I ran the numbers thoroughly (you should see my chart...it's extensive) to cover not only the monthly costs, but also the subsidy and eventual re-sale value of the divide even if it was sold at 1 yr, 2 yrs, or 3 yrs. Everyone's situation is going to be different, but in my case, the overall savings for my wife and I are $31.50 a month if we switch to T-Mobile.

I also hear that some users are being moved up to unlimited voice at same FamilyTalk plan cost they are currently on. Has AT&T gone soft? I'm excited about the unlimited data :)

My brother has Family Talk and was given unlimited voice

I'm pretty upset about this. After many years of upgrading to new iPhone every year, I gave up unlimited to move to Next because I was done paying early upgrade fees and doing upgrade swaps etc. We never went over 22GB but was well over 5GB.

I honestly can't believe this. They conveniently do it after the iPhone pre order...

Why did you give up unlimited for the Next program? I'm on next and kept my
Unlimited. You don't have to drop unlimited change your plan to get on Next.
