My sister threatened to leave them a few days ago and made the point that she sees no point in staying when she's always throttled and that unlimited did not even come close to unlimited. Seems like she helped this cause! :D

How was she being throttled? With the new non hard throttling policy implemented back in May there's no throttling.

When the new policy happened in May since then I have never been throttled and I live in 5th-6th largest metro's in the country and have consistently used 10+GB a month and haven't been throttled or experienced my speeds being reduced.

And I never heard of anyone else getting throttled.

So the new and newer non hard throttling policies sort of confuse me. If your speeds go down after a certain GB at what speeds? The old .50Mbps down and up? Or is it network optimization?

This sucks. I was forced to move off last year. I need consistent high speed data for work, an I was sometimes being throttled for 20+ days per month. As it stands now I am usually good at about 15 GB per month. Luckily the price factor works out OK, and the others on my plan work in office jobs with wifi, and now there is rollover, so we never go over our 50 GB allotment.

Lat month we did pass 50 GB, but my sister was apartment hunting/moving and burned 18 GB. Luckily we still had a surplus 20GB from July.

I also hear that some users are being moved up to unlimited voice at same FamilyTalk plan cost they are currently on. Has AT&T gone soft? I'm excited about the unlimited data :)

That is confirmed. I have a 700 shared plan from back in the day, and it now shows Unlimited talk. Rollover still shows as well in the bucket. Unlimited FTW as well.

Add...
Has anyone tried to move down in the Family shared plan to a lower tier, say 550 and keep the unlimited voice? Save another 15/month.

Where are you seeing unlimited for FamilyTalk plans? I log in to the website and it still shows a minute balance.

See attached image...should I be contacting AT&T?

I switched from 700 to 550 and it still says unlimited talk. Easy money save right there.

I have 3 lines with unlimited data I kept it because 3 times 5GB is 15GB cost for sharing is $100 and for me it's only $90
but now 3 times 22GB is 66GB for $90
That's how I looked at it before the policy change. $30 is a great deal for 5gb. $30 for 22gb is even better... but the best part is that we aren't hard throttled after we pass the limit.:)

This is a big change... am I dreaming? :p

She lives in NYC so that could be it. But at least now maybe she won't have to worry about it! I'm considering leaving Verizon & hopping on her plan...

Do you have unlimited data? I called a year or so ago to try and downgrade minutes since we don't use them much, but for some reason they said I couldn't.
It would affect my contract or something. I'm going to look into a smaller minutes plan to save money.

Can you share the url that the 550 plans has when you hover over "Select Plan", when I go to change my plan it says I have an unlimited plan for $60 a month and it gives me these options, I don't have a 550 option.

If you have more than 3 lines you cannot have 550 plan. I had 550 plan option before, but after I added 4th line this option is not available for me..

Should I call them to get the unlimited?

I have 4 lines so the lowest option is the 700 :( still unlimited now so I guess it balances out. My unlimited messaging plan is 30.00 a month, maybe I can have that reduced
