,I got mine switched to the $20 plan last week. Make sure you call retentions (the phone option for cancelling service), and be super nice to the CS rep. Ask if they can help you with lowering your bill. Plan to be on hold for awhile while they do whatever it is they need to do on their end. I got it on the first try, but if the rep you get doesn't want to help you, just call back.
Afterwards, they should email you a confirmation of the plan change so you can review it.

Thanks for the info. I have 2 iPhones with Unlimited Data and 700 minutes (now unlimited) and $30 for the unlimited messaging. Just called them and they lowered mine down to $20. Now after my 15% FAN I only pay $149.
Not bad for Unlimited all the way on 2 smart phone.

Here is my question...
Has anyone else noticed their data usage has SURGED since they upped the limit to 22GB?
I was using 3-4GB many most, most ever was 5-7GB, and now I'm using 1GB+ per day. I wonder if they are measuring it differently so that we get to the 22GB faster?
I have another iPhone on T-Mobile and get only 1GB per week pay as I go and even with tethering, it hardly gets used up.
This unlimited on AT&T is now just eating away like lightning. It said in the last 24 hours, i used 3GB alone.
Have you noticed you're using more or it's counting as more?

Interesting -- this is a good development.
I've been a AT&T UDP guy for 7 years and I still am, at least for a few more weeks. I just decided to switch over to T-Mobile and I'm waiting on my 6s+ to arrive. When it does, my plan is to port over my AT&T number and cancel service with AT&T.
For years, I've been saying that I will never give up my UDP. However, after thoroughly crunching the numbers from every angle, I've concluded that it just isn't worth it for our (my wife and me's) particular case. By switching over to T-Mobile, we each get 10 GB of high-speed data a month and music streaming is always free. I can also freely tether as much of that 10 GB as I want, for free. I've never used more than 5 GB in a month and my average is 2-3 GB a month. I'm fully aware that data usage will continue to grow over time.
After running the math and carefully considering every single variable, I am saving $31.50 a month by giving up my AT&T UDP and going with T-Mobile. That comes out to a savings of $378 a year! And when you add up that savings year after year, the savings are huge.
Sure, signal coverage is an unknown until I actually get out there and try it out, but T-Mobile has made tremendous advancements over the last year and continues to do so. I suspect that the coverage differences will be somewhat minimal for the region I'm in.
So, even though I've been a UDP customer for years, I finally did the math and it just doesn't make sense to keep a death grip on something that is actually significantly more expensive in the end. I am super stoked though to see that AT&T is changing their policy. It's great for existing UDP customers and it's the right thing to do.
What plan is this?I don't. Even with a FAN discount, I was paying almost 4X more than I am now with T-Mobile.
With T-Mobile, I'm getting unlimited minutes, texts, 10GB of data (unused data rolls over for a year), free hotspot tethering, free music streaming, free international text and data, free calls/LTE to/in Canada & Mexico. And I'm averaging speeds of 45Mbps.
I'm in this same boat on an individual plan but I haven't found a plan cheaper than my ATT UDP. What exactly is the T-Mobile plan you have?
We have two lines. On AT&T, one has the UDP and the other has a monthly data allotment of 250mb. (yes, mega-bytes.) After our AT&T Fan discount, we pay $116.50 a month plus tax/fees.
On T-Mobile, we now have 10 GB for each line, the usual unlimited voice/text, plus music doesn't count against our data. It is normally $100 for this, but once you include our corporate discount/FAN, we only pay $85 a month plus taxes/fees. This alone saves us $378 a year.
On top of that, T-Mobile does not charge an upgrade fee every time we upgrade, whereas AT&T does. (That's another $40 per line, unless you can talk AT&T unto waiving the fee which seems to be hit or miss.)
One word of caution though. T-Mo's coverage is excellent in our region, but they are still catching up in certain parts of the country, especially in rural areas. They are rapidly expanding, but you might want to check out the coverage for your area first.
Hope this helps.
Ah. Thank you both for the info! But it appears the great discounts are for 2 lines or more. I'm just looking for a better individual plan and so far ATT UDP with FAN can't be beat.
Yep. I looked at that T-Mobile plan too. I think I'm gonna hold tight onto the UDP for now.Same here. With my ATT Fan discount factored in I pay less than $80/month before taxes and fees. That gets me 450 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data. I see the TMobile plan is $80/month for unlimited talk/text/data. With taxes and no fan discount I'd pay more. Might be worth it if I spoke on the phone a lot but I barely do. I have over 4,000 rollover minutes. Holding on to this UDP for dear life. Thank goodness for the change because I explored leaving it quite a few times due to being throttled to crippling speeds on multiple occasions, effectively making it a 5GB plan.
Hmmm... I am looking to add my kids to our family plan. T-mobile looks interesting.
