So I'm guessing that in order to get the latest Provenance update, you will need to go through the entire install as was done initially?
as long as you use the same bundle id name the app will update instead of install another , and you keep your game saves and roms

Build the Provenance-TV target for the AppleTV device. Also, double-check your bundle identifiers (under both Provenance and Provenance-TV).

I have tried these things before commenting on this thread. Anytime I build Provenance I either get those 3 errors or this one clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)

Fixed the issue: I was adding my developer email to Provenance team field as well as ProvenanceTV then I would press "Fix issue." I just needed to add email to ProvenanceTV only then press "Fix issue" to prevent a failed build.

After updating to 1.2.6 and using a Nimbus controller, I honestly don't see any improvement whatsoever. Punch-out remains essentially unplayable, as does Megaman 2.

Do you mean Super Punch-Out for SNES? That's one of the ones that was working well for me, even under 1.2.4 (also with Nimbus).

I've heard other people report Super Mario World has little or no lag, but mine is unplayable.

I wonder if it's a difference in the ROM itself?

Never mind on what I posted.

So I got this running. Sort of. I got some games to work, others didn't. I'd get a black screen on some, like they weren't working at all. Maybe they need multiple rom files for some?

The Siri remote is mostly crap for this, though. I'm going to get a gaming controller soon and see if that works better.

Still, I was able to play Galaga on my AppleTV. That is SWEET!

Mike Tyson's punch-out for NES. I actually haven't tried any SNES games yet. There's definitely something a little off in the 6 NES games I've tried.

Can someone who has sideloaded Mame on their ATV4 check to see if Star Wars or The Empire Strikes Back arcade roms work? I tried loading them and I only get a black screen.

Thanks!

I tried them they don't work , this Mame emulator needs a lot of work
I don't think the creator knows how to fix then

For anybody who hates the NES button layout on the mfi controller
This fixes it

I successfully changed the layout:

iOS button -> NES button

X = B

A = A

Y = Select

B = Start

You can get the update by pulling a new version from my forked repo:https://github.com/nlflint/Provenance.git

I tried two different version of Mame and couldn't get anyone of them to work properly, Games typically started but then no control.
Provenance worked directly, great to load apps without connection to usb.

Get the 1.8gb file in the video

Same. I'm also getting that with Asteroids, Joust, and a few others I was hoping to use.

Pretty cool.

I'd rather play on the original consoles, but the Arcade games would be a definite.

I don't want to go and attempt to side load the games. Maybe the game owners will see there is a demand and make the games available on the ATV App store - I'd pay a few dollars for Tempest, Asteroids, Robotron, Joust, etc.

History suggests that this just isn't going to happen.

Sideload or never. And most people who do sideload, would likely *still* pay a buck or two for a straight port.

I agree. I'd be more than happy to pay for these games, but companies like Nintendo aren't willing to put their "first party licensed" games on other platforms. Unfortunately, the only way to acquire these games is to sideload onto a device. I've done both Provenance and MAME and installed with little to no problems.

Is there a way to update Provenance without having to delete the App first? Or that that I do not have to download the ROMs again?
Dont delete provenance from Apple TV

Reinstall the app using the same bundle ID. As before and it will update

I installed MAME and Street Fighter 3 but my Apple TV is just stuck on the MAME start screen. I cannot select any games. Is it normal, that the first time takes a while? I waited 10 minutes...

I guess Street Fighter 3 is one of the bigger games but I heard that it is supposed to work with MAME :(

Wanna shoot my Hadoukens :(

EDIT: I actually got it to work that the App runs. But it cannot find the game. Any tipps? placed it in res/roms folder, than dragged to Ressources and then build the app, no luck :(
