Here are my icon and top shelf assets: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9s072vtiv98zohl/App Icon & Top Shelf Image.brandassets.zip?dl=0

To get the NES controller app icon and Super Mario Bros. top shelf that I put together, you should replace the folder App Icon & Top Shelf Image.brandassets with the one in the link above.
Drop it in Provenance>ProvenanceTV>TVAssets.xcassets and replace the existing folder.

I also made a new splash screen for when Provenance starts:

Drop that in Provenance>ProvenanceTV>TVAssets.xcassets>LaunchImage.launchimage and name the file TV Launch Image.png (exactly the same, with the spaces).

To change the name of the app from Provenance to Nintendo, in Xcode, under Build Settings there's a line item called Packaging and under that there's Product Name. I changed it to Nintendo and rebuilt it on my AppleTV.

(note: Where it says Generic tvOS Device, it should say AppleTV. Mine just wasn't connected when I took this screen shot)

thanks ipedro

here are more 1920x720 images i found on the net you guys can use in top shelf, they have to be that resolution

for provenance

you have to change the extension from .jpg to nintendo.png

i also changed the name of the app to "Nintendo:apple:Sega"

@ipedro i couldn't get MAME working when changing the top shelf , build failed in xcode do you know how to fix this ?

if anybody can get this working working with mame let us know

Question about MAME roms: Anyone get Asteroids or Pac-Man to work, or know where to get a working ROM? I downloaded the pack that was recommended, but those (and others, like Tempest) just load a black screen. I'd really like to get more of them working, if possible.

Also, it looks like high scores on games reset each time the game is launched. Is there a workaround for that, or is that just a limitation of emulation?

Why change it to Nintendo when it's a Multiple system emulator?
You can change it to whatever you want
The name of the app and top shelf picture
And icon of the app

Provenance works on iOS 9.2 iPhone 6s Plus so it should work on the new Apple TV update
This isn't a jailbreak
So there's nothing Apple could to stop sideload app

Mame app is a buggy mess , it hasn't been updated since it came out
I wish provenance would add Mame , is possible to do so

Hello,

I've two questions about Provenance and the Apple TV:

  1. After the ROMs and and SaveGames are stored on the AppleTV, is there not the danger that the AppleTV deletes those when it runs out of space for other applications?
  2. Is is possible to play with two Nimbus Controller at the same time, e.G. for Street Figther?

yes on the 2 nimbus but get one horipad and one nimbus
as for save games and storage , don't know
you won't be running out of space anytime soon in the next year
don't worry about it

Because that's all I'm using it for. I might create a second instance of Provenance and name it SEGA but I've never been much of a SEGA guy.

Apple keeps up to 200MB of an app. What it deletes to make space is the additional downloadable content. Given that most ROMs are counted in kilobytes, I don't think there's any danger in them being deleted.

I have the SteelSeries Stratus XL and I am noticing a tiny bit of a lag, just enough to make playing an issue. I use the same roms on my wii with no lag. Would this be an issue with the controller or something else? Would the nimbus help with the lag at all? Like i said it is very minimal but just enough to be an issue.

*edit: I should also note that I am on Provenance 1.2.6.

**edit: So i returned the stratus and picked up the nimbus. I also found my "game mode" on the tv and now i don't notice any lag at all. I think it was more the game mode setting on the tv vs the controller, but either way its running great now.

I side-loaded Provenance last night, and man, can I say badass! I already have just about every ROM for the old consoles back from XBOX/XBMC hacking days, so loading them up is super easy. Now I just need to get a good controller. But this is awesome! Kudos to everyone who has helped develop this.
