Can't see the point of that sort of switching. In provenance it automatically sorts out the rooms into separate consoles determined by the file extension as the rom is imported.

Is useful if you have more then 5 games for each console
And if you want to check out the nes , I have to scroll down passing hundreds of games maybe thousands to get to NES or what ever console is at the bottom of the list

Is useful for people with a large rom library

@thirdeyeopen666 and now for search I have to scroll all the way up again holding the up button for 2 minutes

Oh yeah that would make sense. I only have probably half a dozen roms in each console so they usually only take up 1 or 2 rows each so a large list could be a bit of a pain to scroll through.

I wish I had gotten this controller over the nimbus

I don't want to get another MFI controller in case there's a hack or jailbreak that lets you use a ps4 controller
Cause I do need another ps4 controller

If I get another control pad for my other Apple tv's I'd get the hori as well. While I don't regret getting the nimbus why pay double the price over the hori. At the time I got the nimbus the hori wasn't available so I just got the nimbus instead.

I thought they were both the same price?

Actually it might be yeah. In australia the nimbus is $95 but the horipad is $50 but i forgot about currency conversion since its not available locally by the looks of it.

[Horipad Ultimate Review]

I've bought and tried the Mad Catz CTRLi, the Steelseries Nimbus, and the Horipad Ultimate.

I've returned the Mad Catz and the Horipad, and bought a second Nimbus (but see below, as it was personal fit that was the deal-breaker between the Nimbus and the Horipad).

Objective Differences

  1. Mad Catz
    • Has a clip to attach your iPhone
    • Uses AA batteries
    • Left thumbstick is above the D-pad
  2. Nimbus
    • 40h battery life
    • Rechargable via lightning (not included)
    • Left thumbstick is below the D-pad
    • Has iOS companion app for firmware updates
  3. Horipad Ultimate
    • 80h battery life
    • Rechargable via lightning (not included)
    • Left thumbstick is below the D-pad
Subjective Opinions

  1. The Nimbus looks great in my opinion. Slightly behind is the Horipad (though it's beautiful too). The MadCatz looks junky.
  2. The Horipad feels more solidly built than the Nimbus, which feels way more solidly built than the Mad Catz.
  3. The Horipad feels smaller. I buy L/XL workgloves, and it feels like the thumb controls are too low for my natural grip. Even short use of the Horipad made my hands crampy. Both the Nimbus and Mad Catz fit my hand much better.
For me it was #3 that was the deal-breaker. If the Horipad fit my hand, I'd have returned the Nimbus and ordered a second Horipad Ultimate.

Does anyone know if the creator of Provenance is working on a revision of the software? Hopefully adding more systems and new UI?

J
Hopefully yes
I'm thinking of selling my Apple TV for the nvidia shield tv

Android is so far ahead in emulation

Psp on the shield tv

GameCube

They even working on wii emulation for android

That looks pretty impressive. Might have to get my hands on one because the main console I want is the n64 which isn't available on atv4 yet. I'll just use the nvidia shield for emulators and atv4 for videos.

Another cool thing about android emulators , you could use any Bluetooth controller
Like PS3

Or you could even use the original console controllers by using a USB adapter
I have one that I got from Amazon for $15
I can connect my original nes and snes controllers to this USB adapter and play the games , this was on the ouya
I would imagine is the same on the shield

They also sell nes/snes and n64 controllers with usb cables for cheap on Amazon

In the provenance app settings at the bottom it says release or debug ?
And the latest version

Also make sure you update the nimbus controller

And using game mode on the tv helps

I have updatetd the Nimbus controler using the IOS app, still laging on the ATV. If I connect the nimbus controller to my Mac running OPenEmu it works just fine, like with native apps from the appstore. Just with Provenance its laging...

When I updated Provenance on Xcode I received a warning that the object file was built for a newer tvOS version (9.1) than being linked (9.0). Does this require any action? Thank you!

I also am having trouble importing ROMS. I successfully got one on the ATV 4 a couple of weeks ago, but since trying to update it gave me a new URL to upload at. I uploaded a bunch, but they are not appearing on my ATV 4 the way they did last time.

Any advice on these two items would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

The roms your trying to import have been extracted correctly I take it. Most roms come either in rar or 7z format and must be extracted before importing them otherwise they won't be recognised as roms.

I just realized I didn't put them in the ROM folder. Kind of a newbie at this stuff. They're on the TV now. Whoohoo!

The only problem is that many of the ROMs (not all) don't respond to the controls of my Nimbus. I just updated the Nimbus so I know it's not the controller. It actually took care of an audio lag problem with Ocean Horn (from the app store - or it seems to have been the solution).

Does anyone have the same problem? Do you know what might be the fix @Che Castro ?

Thank you!

Would you recommend getting the shield or the shield pro that comes with 500gb storage ?

Did you get the latests provenance update from 18 days ago?
Does it say debug or release when you go to settings/ in provenance at the bottom

No the shield has 2 USB ports you can use for external storage and putting apps on there and roms
Buying the drive separate is cheaper , sd card 64gb or any portable or desktop drive

until ps1,psp and n64 gets added to atv4 you can play them on your mac using any controller, even the nimbus via bluetooth

i was up and running in 2 minutes after downloading the app

http://openemu.org

I've actually been doing exactly that. Spent 9 hours yesterday just playing ocarina of time on n64 and a few hours today.

If / when the Apple TV gets jailbroken, do you think there is any chance of seeing Dolphin Emulator (Gamecube / Wii) on the ATV - is the A8 chip even capable of running it?

I would imagine we would be able to get PS1 emulation since my iPad (I know its an A8X) Air 2 can run it?
