back to iOS 6, will stay there..

I tried to like ios 7 ,but it really does not help the fact that i hated flat and colourful design over deep sophisticated ios 6 look..

icons are inconsistent with all the 3rd party apps, i have over 100 hundered apps installed none of them have ios 7 wise design.

i think i will survive with ios 6 as much as i can..

i need a few stock apps from ios 7 i liked..

compass app is good, i liked the level bubble thing, is there any 3rd party app similar to stock ios7 compass ?

iOS 7 hasn't even been officially released yet - you thought all 3rd party apps would be updated to match the look already?

That's nice honey, just wait until all the App Store apps get updated to ios 7 style flat icons and you'll realize how messy your cute little ios 6 looks.

iOS 6 does not look deeply sophisticated.

After a few weeks of using iOS 7, going back to iOS 6 feels like using Windows 98. It's an over complicated and cluttered mess.

How exactly is iOS 6 complicated and cluttered?

True. Apple just asked developers to submit App changes for iOS 7 at their event last week. Plus, ios7 hasn't even been officially released yet.

Well, to be accurate some of them have already, actually. SloPro is one of them.

Well this app pretty much negates the need to upgrade to the 5S for slow motion. What an awesome app!

Well, it's Sunday and Sky Sport's so called "Super Sunday" offering is Sunderland v West Ham, so I'm bored. So I'm going to put these posts certain members have made to bed by trying the "different" ways of installing iOS on my iPad and see if it makes a difference. Hint: It won't.

  1. DFU restore & set up as new device (already done).
  2. Update direct from iOS 6 and reset all settings via Settings app.
  3. The so-called 'Re Restore' (Restoring back to back).

Haha. Good luck man. Would you mind turning on increase contrast option and see if that does anything for some of the pinch and rotation animations?

Will do mate.

First up is an update from iOS 6 to iOS 7 GM using Option+Left Click on "Check For Update" in iTunes and manually selecting the GM ipsw.

Updating as we 'speak'. ;)

iOS 7 on the iPad still feels not quite fully baked. I think they're concentrating on the phone since the new phones are coming out next week. New iPads won't be out for a while.

I still have hope that these issues will be fixed fairly soon. Apple is not the sort of company that tolerates second-rate experiences on their hardware.

Surprisingly in my mini ios7 is running great. Just as good as ios6. I wonder why it's running like that in the 4. And I must say io7 has grown on me so much. I'm totally loving it.

First post I have seen about the Mini with iOS 7. How far have you gone with it as far as multitask, control center, new voice Siri, Safari, etc etc.

Thanks for sharing.

So, update from iOS 6 to iOS 7 GM complete:

  • Reset All Settings - Done.
  • 4 Finger Pinch To Home Animation Still 'Broken' - Yes.
  • Stutter on UI when 'zooming in' on app selected from Multitasking UI - Yes.
  • Does enabling 'Increase Contrast' help transitions (going to portrait/landscape, etc) - No.
  • Time taken in total to change static wallpaper - 14 seconds.

Next up, the infamous 'Re-Restore'.

Well this app pretty much negates the need to upgrade to the 5S for slow motion. What an awesome app!

With the 5S, after recording at 120fps Apple will let you select which part of the video you wanna play slower. Slower meaning 120/30 = 4, so 4 times slower.

This app will then add a whole new thing to the 5S. Its 500 and 1000fps features look pretty decent with a 5 (it captures at 60fps), so if it's got twice as many frames it'll do twice as good I suppose. And that is 1000/30 = 33.3, so around 33 times slower.

I'm curious, how is the four-finger pinch animation "broken"? I'm doing it and it seems to work fine. If anything I like it better than hitting the home button because it's a lot faster.

Re-Restore complete, all 'issues' remain.

Steps taken:

  • DFU mode.
  • Option+Click then browse to ipsw in iTunes.
  • Set up as "new" device.
  • Completed set up.
  • Option+Click then browse to ipsw on iTunes.
  • Set up as "new" device.
  • Disabled push notifications.
  • Disabled Motion.
  • Tested UI with Increase Contrast on/off - no change.

Yeah, iOS 7 has issues on iPad. These are:

  • 4 finger pinch gesture to return home results in a different animation to pressing home button and looks unfinished/rushed.
  • UI stutters when zooming in on app selected to bring to front on multitasking UI.
  • Not as smooth as iOS 6 when rotating from portrait to landscape and vice versa.
  • Wallpaper takes 14 seconds to change (static image).
  • Keyboard is less responsive, more so in landscape mode.
  • Shift key on keyboard has noticable delay between pressing and keyboard showing capital letters, etc.

It starts fine then seems to speed up and ends in a very cluttered, unnatural, and messy fashion. It looks abysmal. It appears that it should be the same animation as the first boot, where the app icons fall into place, but it seems to end at x5 the speed it should and looks utterly shoddy. It's broken because it looks like ****.

You do realize iOS 7 is not public yet right? Once it becomes public all 3rd party developers will be updating their apps. This is the whole point of this Beta so developers can test their apps on iOS 7 before it is released.

By staying on iOS 6 you are limiting yourself. You will not benefit from the background refresh feature that updated versions of the apps you use now will have.

I decided some time ago after seeing the hideous icons and other gaudy look & feel aspects of iOS 7, that I'm staying with iOS 6 on my very nice iPhone 5. It does everything I want and has nothing I don't want.

Sorry to burst your bubble there buddy, but supporting iOS7 isn't as trivial as previous versions... Especially for those that used UIAppearance to customized their look.

So be glad that apps built for iOS6 still look and behave like on iOS 6 (for the most part)!

I'm currently working on updating my customer's app, but this is low priority for them, for the moment, so I'm doing it as an end of day task when I have 30-60 left to my work day, but don't want to start a long task then.

Ah, sweet sophistication...
