ughh...please don't...lol. I ordered from apple site after returning my bleed unit after 4 or 5 replacements (they literally didn't want to give me a refund, just wanted to keep changing out units till i was satisfied.), rather than wasting gas and such I just ordered from their website the second I read the article that the culprit has been pinpointed and apple is starting to use samsung screens.

as it stands, its in movement to be delivered next friday, i really hope its not another bleed unit, if so...i give up, just gonna return and get on with my life. as pathetic as that makes me sound. LOL.

dont give up

i just say wait

After receiving my fifth unit with backlight leakage, I was presented with the option of either getting a brand new one or a refund. I chose the refund. Absolutely tired of having to swap out the unit and the Customer Care representative made it clear that even a new one isn't a guaranteed fix. They said Apple was having trouble isolating the issue (canned line obviously), and some of the customers she has worked with are still receiving iPad 2's with problems that are CRU'd.

I wish everyone else the best of luck with their swaps! Here's hoping that Apple uses Samsung as their primary display manufacturer the next time around.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I wouldn't get your hopes up. Who knows though, maybe you will luck out.

Use Samsung next time - so who's the culprit?

Well, I just got my third replacement (returned my first one for a few dead pixels, the last two for backlight bleeding), and I'm happy to report that it is 99.9999999999% free of backlight bleed and dead or stuck pixels. Overall the screen looks great, no issues with excessive yellowness, though it might be a hair warmer than the last one, and definitely a bit warmer than the frigid iPhone 4 screen. Glad I finally don't have to worry about it anymore and can finally put on my Bodyguardz rear skin.

FYI, it's black, 16GB wi-fi only, and the serial number starts with DLXFK.

DLXFF - White 32gb - Bad

Bleeding bad enough that it's noticeable in normally lit room when watching movies or anytime screen is primarily dark. That's with brightness set around 70%. Plan to wait until something from apple comes out confirming defects are resolved.

Added numbe9 and sfe80.

My first iPad had lots of backlight bleed took it back for a 2nd iPad which had no backlight bleed and was 100% perfect but had 50% yellow tint on half the screen and the other half was White which made it bad for reading so that went back and waiting for stock to come back in for my 3rd replacement.

Abit of a joke getting a none bleed screen and to have it have yellow tint on half the screen.

Apple need to sort this out

the two iPads 2 I purchased have the same bleeding issue.
Not sure at this point there is a solution to this. Even if I swap for a new one it feels the problem will still there.

So was this all at the same Apple store? They are allowing more than one replacement?

been exactly a month since I got mine, I find that I just don't care anymore; mine wasn't severe anyways, though still noticeable

DN6FN, purchased at the Apple store today from a fresh shipment.

Stopped by the Apple store earlier today and got a replacement with build week of 20. From what I can see, no blacklight bleeding. BUT.....the frame is coming loose. It's a brand new week 20 iPad 2. So disappointed. They don't have anymore in stock so they going to order me one.

Looks like we are using pads from the same production lot because your observations are the same as mine. Warm but not excessive.

We got very lucky with getting these DLXFK replacements. Worrying about this is a pain in the ass and Apple should get in trouble for this (bad dog).

My friend got his ipad 2 64gb 3g yesterday delivered to me so he could pick it up from Germany, and he has severe backlight bleeding. Of course i didnt tell him anything because he probably doesnt care because he's wowed enough by technology as it stands and I just set him up and downloaded a few apps for him, he loves it. Ill see if he brings it up sometime ;)

He did have to accept a huge scratch on the back, because he had to take it back with him on the plane and didnt have time to swap his out. I unfortunately didn't think of getting his serial number for this thread.

So out of my sample size of units in hand, 1/7 of them have had no backlight bleeding issues or defects of pixels and scratches on the back.

Really feel for you guys experiencing issues, it's bizarre because apple ARE producing some problem free panels. It's irritating and a huge waste of time dealing with this.

Good luck .

I feel your pain, I am having similar issues with mine, I will also be going in for a 3rd replacement or refund, which ever they offer me, as soon as I'm back in the USA.

Just picked this up last night.

Will be attempting an exchange once my local store has stock - they haven't received any all week and I had to drive an hour and a half to pick up this one

Ain't she beautiful?????

I just re-ordered with Apple and the iPad 2 is going to arrive tomorrow via FedEx. (64GB 3G AT&T BLACK)

How will I know if it has absolutely no problems? Does anyone have a photo of the iPad 2 without backlight issues?

Got damn!

They're still shipping like this!?

Guess I'll need to hold onto mine a little longer.

The good news is I never turn my brightness up past 50% anyway and never notice the yellow in normal viewing. Still, I'll wait another couple months until this issue is fixed for good.

What do you guys think is the better option:

A) Go to the Apple store and get a replacement, but risk having another crappy unit and wasting my time.

or

B) Just get a refund and wait it out, but be without my ipad for another month or two.

I can't decide!
