oh BTW to the people who purchased from Best Buy how are they as far as returns go no hassle money back? restocking fees?

Other than asking for ID when you return stuff.
I didn't have any problem returning defective iPads.

Yep, BestBuy requires an ID for returns (at least my local BB store does, where they enter my driver's license info into their system). :( I think returns at a BB store for the most part shouldn't be a problem but it may depend on each individual store to a certain extent.

Interestingly enough, my local BB store only allows me to return my iPad 2 for store credit, which I reluctantly took. :( Am I "screwed"? I would think that I am as I'm still waiting for BB stores around my area to have some new stock with the config that I want since I would have to use their store credit to purchase an iPad 2 (for my 2nd attempt), although it should be pointed out that Target stores around my area seemed to have a large amount of different configs for the past week. :( Unfortunately, it's been 2 weeks since any BB store close to me has got what I want in stock. :( Hopefully, in the coming week, one of those BB stores will get some new stock in. :)

One thing I did notice about Best Buy is,
If you ask a sales associate if they have any iPad 3g AT&T ver.
It's always "Sorry only have the Verizon models in stock."
I use a web site to check store stock and it's always accurate.
Rather just walk up to customer service and ask.

Once again, I humbly think it depends on each individual store. At least the sales persons at my local BB store are not like that as I've experienced. Furthermore, my local BB store stored all the available iPad 2 units in their "special" locked cage & the best thing of all is that these units are lined up in their respective configs & the bottom of the box (the side that indicates the config) are pointed outwards so that it is easy for people to see what iPad 2 units are in stock. :)

I've been waiting so long to get an iPad, then this issue came up, and today I finally said screw it and ordered one. Hoping mine will be fine, but you all aren't giving me a lot of hope it'll happen on the first try. We'll see...

Got mine about a fortnight ago, at first I didn't notice the backlight bleeding. But then I started to watch movies and tv on my iPad while in bed.

Got very angry at the backlight bleed I was seeing  so today I have lodged a product return and refund.

Honestly not good enough Apple, a $900 AUD product with a rubbish panel is bad!

Here is a new fresh out the box DN6FQ, undecided but leaning toward returning it it's uniform for the most part but there is one bright flashlight ugh that really sticks out at full brightness as you can see. It is in the bottom right hand corner. It's worth pointing out under 60% brightness it doesn't show much.

The first two pics are at 100% brightness and the last two are at 50% brightness. Would you guys keep or return?

I think it depends on how it is in other respects. Dead/stuck pixels? How's the backlight uniformity and color temp? If it's one of the bright, uniform, more neutral screens with no bad pixels I'd keep it. Otherwise, I'd probably try again. I've seen several DN6T screens now and they've all been pretty good on bleed, but most iPad screens (including bleed free) I've seen have been less than stellar in the other respects.

I'd return it. The bleeding is showing on more than one side.

iPad 2 (Third Try)

I posted earlier that I gave up on trying after the second one, but I apparently wanted an iPad more than I thought.

Just picked up a DN6FR... I have to say .. a LOT better. slight 1 point bleed on the left at 100% brightness (similar but not as bad as bobright above), completely tolerable. at 50%, barely noticeable.

It is night and day compared to the first 2, going to try it out and see if I am okay with it. I think I will be. Not "perfect", but I don't think any of them really are. YAY!

DLXFR (64gb 3g ATT)

Not happy. Worse than first P. Just brought it home from the local Apple store. :(

Wait - How can my DLXF be the first 1/2 of the year if it's a week 22 R?

Please kindly excuse my ignorance.

Doesn't a single year consists of 52 weeks? If that's the case, then half a year is 26 weeks? So week 22 is still inside the 1st 26 weeks (1st half of the year)? No?

What do you guys think? Looked perfect out of the box at first, got my hopes up really high. First shot at 50%, not too shabby, but then up to 100%bright and you can clearly see bleed on the upper right side and some minor spots on the left side. No dead pixels and pretty good color. Not bad but it does bug to always know of imperfections.

Keeper? Should i continue to play roulette and the waiting game? Thoughts?

Dude...
If you guys can't see it at a normal brightness level, then WHY THE F ARE YOU STILL CONSIDERING AN EXCHANGE?!?!?!
I can see mine at 50% on anything that's dark anywhere along the home button edge (i.e. almost all movies and Netflix stuff), but if it only showed up in those circumstances at 100% I wouldn't even CONSIDER exchanging it!

Swish - that doesn't look bad to me. I think if it were mine, I'd call it a keeper.

I'm sad this is still continuing. Waited till May to order ours for this reason and both came in bad. I'm on #2 with one and it's worse. Going back to store for the other today.

IDK how to handle the 3rd swap with the 3g. Buy another online and hope it's the latest week and return the old? Bring it to the store to exchange for another of the same build week?

I guess all the screens are like this aren't they?

Some of the pictures posted don't have any bleeding. Mine is due to be delivered today, and if it looks worse then the one pictured above by Swish, I will return it. You said you ordered 2. Was one OK?

Ordered two = 1 for me, 1 for hubby. I already replaced mine and it's worse. I'm heading to the store to replace his right now.

IDK what to do about mine. Might buy another online.

Anyone know if one orders now, it'll get here within 14 days? Not sure how fast they are getting out yet. Site says "ships 1-2 weeks".

I'm just thinking if I order via online, I might have a better shot at getting a "T". Tho I'm not convinced the T's are magical yet.

Mine arrived within 17 days (Holiday delayed it one day). Good Luck!

I am torn. I know it's there and at 50% if I look hard I can see them, especially in the dark setting (a la movies)... but it's much better than the ones I've had previously (returned and reordered to get this one).

As to why would I consider an exchange, it's ~$700 so while it's definitely pricey enough of a gizmo/ not cheap. Consider a new car, would you accept one that had a dent, but the dent can only be seen when you shine a direct light on it and is barely noticeable under normal lighting? I don't think I would...

but if 90% of the cars out there came with a bigger dent and the chance of you getting one of the better 10% was slim, then that throws a curve there...
Decisions decisions...

That's a keeper for sure.

No offense, but I'm starting to question the overall sanity in this thread.

If the color and backlight uniformity are good I'd keep it (might have to compare it to some other ones to tell). Otherwise, I'd exchange it.

Heres my DN6FT ipad 2, i notice very sight bleed on one side but its so slight at 100%. I think the color temp is prettty good, almost identical next to my 2010 MBP. What do you think?
