Backlight bleeding

Just to let you know, I got my iPad in the mail yesterday and I've posted a photo of it in a previous post. There was a very bright spot on the bottom that was very noticeable. The other 3 sides were fine. I called Apple and they said I could go to the Apple store for a replacement even though it was engraved. The one they gave me (in a brown box) is serial No. DLXFP and it looks much better. There's a slight glow on the bottom, but it isn't very noticeable, even at 100 %. Here's a picture at 100% brightness. I'm going to keep this one.

Got a new iPad in the mail Saturday, massive light leaks. Exchanged the same day at the apple store, brown box unit, one tiny leak at 100%. Otherwise perfect, display is the warmer version. Although white is less white, colors are more vivid keeper!

ps.- If your serial# starts with DLXFP. You have an iPad2 made at (DLX) factory, is made in the first half of the year (F) and on week 20 (P)
ps2.- post your first 5 characters of your serial and if you have a good backlight or the bleeding problem.
ps3.- any error in the table?, let me know.

This is my first post, the forums are a great source of info so thanks to all the serious forum members. Anyway, got my ipad 2 16GB Wifi only from Powermax yesterday (five week wait), serial no. DMPFR, no backlight bleeding. (Got so frustrated from waiting that I went to BestBuy and offered to buy from their stock if they would let me open it and check first, they refused, so I didn't-- glad I didn't)

I don't know how to update the rolling masterlist so if someone would be so kind to add this.

I just received my third ipad 2 replacement! The first one had a gorgeous screen and very bright but severe backlight bleeding. I got a replacement and it was much warmer and some dead pixels. I got my third one today and its HORRIBLY WARM! The screen bleeding is zero but the screen is yellow compared to my second ipad 2 which is more yellow than my first one! Im so confused on why there are three different warm/cool screens!

Any input??

If there's no bleeding, I'd keep it. Everyone seems to love screens that are cool in colour temperature, but when you calibrate a monitor, it's always a warmer colour temperature as its more natural.
 
I bought a Verizon flavored DLXFD on June 6. It came with iOS 4.3.3 installed. Does this make sense if the the S/N suggests a build date of week 11? Perhaps the Verizon models don't sell as fast and the OS is installed just before boxing?

Anyway, my iPad has some minimal backlight bleed near the home button, which isn't really visible at normal viewing levels. It has a nice cool white display, no dead or stuck pixels and it reliably connects to my wireless router. So it's a keeper.
 
just returned the DLXF6 due to a 3 inch span of serious bleed centered on the home button.
The new unit is DLXFG and it looks very good.
Some slight bleed on a black picture >75%. Its a keeper

I would return it. On top of looking yellow it looks like the backlighting is dim and possibly uneven. I honestly think that's worse than backlight bleed but I know people have different preferences.
 
I received my iPad 2 today..I took a picture of it with my camera when the iPad was booting, if there is another way of showing u all a pic without me taking a pic with my digital camera please let me know as I am new at this

disregard the line in the middle of the iPad, that is just a reflection of something in the closet(Which is where I took the photo)

I had the brightness level at 50 percent and also at its highest and it looks identical..there is NO bleeding on the right side at all, its totally perfect, nothing on the top as well, just a tiny bit I notice towards the bottom left which is what I have pictured..its the White 32gb Wifi iPad 2..so what do u all think..is that what u all consider a minor bleed? Otherwise the iPad is perfect, no issues so far

I would love to take a pic of mine so you can all see it but its driving me nuts..every time I press the home button and power button together it goes into DFU mode when its booting up..then after its already booted up, THEN the photo will be taken

u need to take better photos - i used my iphone 4 and it makes it worse than what it is

im confused why go into dfu mode to take a photo?

just in photos with a black photo :confused:

Yeah Im trying to take a screenshot of my iPad but every time I try holding onto the home and power button at the same time as its booting up it goes into DFU mode..then when it FINALLY decides to take a pic its already out of the boot screen so its too late, I dont know what I am doing wrong

No when I am booting up cause that is the photo Im trying to take..so I hold onto home and power button at the same time and nothing happens..its basically like DFU mode where nothing happens..and I have no idea how to make it take the pic

bro - taking a screen shot of your screen will not show light bleed :D

u need to actually use a secondary source for the photo taking!

so NO SCREENSHOTS - use your camera phone - go to photos in the ipad 2 and go full screen on a black background -

take a photo of that and upload

Youre not suppsed to screenshot it... use your phone... or another camera to take the picture..

Can I use the camera that came with the iPad to take a pic of the darkness in a dark room..or should I use my canon camera to take some pics as its booting up so u can see whats going on

Download or load up a black photo/wallpaper into your iPad 2. Then go to view that particular photo/wallpaper. Then use your Canon camera to take a pic of your iPad 2 with the black photo/wallpaper on & the brightness set to 100% in a dark room.

Please kindly correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is what most of our fellow members who posted their photos in this thread do. :eek:
