Backlight bleeding

I have a bit of bleeding but you can't see it under normal conditions. I'd return it but no guarantee I'd get anything better. Overall very happy with the ipad 2.

The Reason For the Bleedin'!

i like seeing good screens, they give us hope haha. but seriously i thought there was a rumor that they've switched to samsung screens so how come the bleed is still there in the w units

As far as backlight BLEEDING is concerned, the problem IS NOT who manufactured the screen! See my post #3855 for the reason. It can happen to ANY screen (because the problem is in the manufacturing OF THE iPAD!).

And dead or stuck pixels can also happen to ANY screen.

Concerning some of the other things, like color temperature, yellowing, etc, YES, these do differ by manufacturer.

Just got my iPad 2 in the mail.

There is a slight light bleed (if the home botton is on the bottom) along the left side. It's kinda noticeable at 50% and 100% but if I'm watching a movie I don't notice it.

If I had to give my screen a tone it'd be on the cool spectrum.

mine is similar to the one of the right accept there is only a small spot of light bleed but its only noticeable at 100% brightness otherwise i dont see it because i keep mine around 50% and on autobright.

In my humble opinion, I would exchange it if it were my unit. The spots on the right side are pretty bad.

I love how people come here and ask others for advice on if they should exchange their unit. Surely you can make your own decision about whether the screen you are looking at meets your standards or not, right? Why do you need validation from others in order to make a decision?

for me personally i ask others because i feel like i am being too oc or petty sometimes with whatever blemish i see so if other people don't share my opinion like majority of them here and also with my family then i know i should just relax, on the other hand i might be too lenient and end up accepting a device with a crappy screen when i could probably have gotten something better. well thats just my reason why i ask other people

Hi Linsam, hard to say. Your iPad is from week 8. We have only 3 units from this week. Two are OK and one is bad.

I have the feeling you are going to be lucky...

Thanks for creating this thread. My first ipad2 had a small back bleed problem. Returned it to the apple store. Decided to give the ipad2 a second chance and ordered it from jandr. Contemplated opening it, but looked up this thread for the serial #s of those who got a good one. Low and behold, perfect screen.

Chances are it's probably not going away.

I actually like the warmer samsung screens. It very nice. If you're unhappy with the bleed then get another, but the replacement maybe worse than your current screen

I've had three now, and they all bleed to one degree or another.

That's the bad news since it's really annoying.

The good news? iPad 3!
