(*) X-user-bad, means 'X' is factory DLX, '6' is factory DL6, 'T' for factory DQT and 'P' for factory DMP, all taken from the first 3 of the serial.
(**) 4th character is half of the year. Will be 'F' for first, 'G' for second half.
(***) 5th character is week of manufacturing from previous table.

ps.- If your serial# starts with DLXFP. You have an iPad2 made at (DLX) factory, is made in the first half of the year (F) and on week 20 (P)
ps2.- post your first 5 characters of your serial and if you have a good backlight or the bleeding problem.
ps3.- any error in the table?, let me know.

Well here is my 64GB 3G DLXFW at 50% and 100% brightness (respectfully)

Is this the one you said yesterday was awesome and you were very satisfied with? Not saying you shouldn't be, but just wondering why your opinion seemed to change.

Simple, he read this thread which is about 90% paranoia. Every LCD display has a certain amount of backlight bleeding, or flashlighting. Most of it has absolutely no effect on normal usage. Ignore this thread and most iPads are just fine.

My 64GB 3G GSM model has the same serial prefix as yours (DLXFW) and it looks almost identical to your pictures...IMO, this isn't enough bleeding for me to return it...I watch a TON of video on this thing and I hardly notice it unless I'm looking for it and even then it's hard to distinguish...I only REALLY notice it when I use the black screen to check it..
I've had MANY backlit displays from phones to computer displays to flatscreen tv's, and no matter the brand (Sony, Samsung, LG, Apple, Pioneer) there has been some degree of bleeding or flash-lighting if I REALLY looked for it...yes, some worse than others, but thus far, my new iPad2's slight bleeding has not been an issue...

I have got a white ipad on launch day, has bleeding didnt care about it.

Got a black one last night , and it has Less bleeding. But there are still small light bleed on the lower bottom right corner but i will say its small bleed rather than the white one which has more yellowish.

Does all come with some sort of bleed? Does that apply to mbp screen?

Well as most people on this thread, I am very OCD about this stuff and I just wanted to get other opinions, I also have a friend with an iPad 2 that had bleeding like this and then got really bad

I still have my original opinion of this being a great one, I just wanted to get other peoples opinions

Should i replace mine if its only has 1 spot on the bottom edge. yellowing on 50% but it alot less than the first one i got.

Look, if the bleeding or yellowing isn't evident during regular use, if it doesn't interfere with your enjoyment (aside from just knowing it's there) then IMO it isn't worth the hassle of going through a bunch of returns in hope of getting one that is perfect...just my opinion, mind.

Heres a picture of it im worrying about watching movies in letter box if it actually affects.

not sure if itll affect me watching shows/movies

Nevermind the lower right bottom corner those are just bad lighting , took the pic under a blanket with the original plastic covers on , so a bit of reflection.

What do you guys think.

my replacement is on its way back to me today. DLXFG. i will let you know what it's like... but chances are, i might just keep it. i have a skin waiting to be put on for months now!!!

that looks ok - is that 100% brightness?
also you took the photo at an angle. it could be worse if shot head on?!

Direct shot is better , angle shot is more notice.

Im happy to keep this one but i think i will give it one more try tomorrow.

Thing is the yellow bleed spot is located on the bottom close to home button.

So everytime when you unlock the device at home screen, theres always a black bar on the bottom, and unfortunately there is no way i can ignore that, unless change to a non black wallpaper.

id be ok if its say on the top of the device.

well i just got mine and immediately took it to the bathroom at work with the lights off and switched it on. bleeds still and i have a scratch on the glass screen abotu 1cm long and the top right corner of the glass is chipped.
this is going back!

you have no luck :(

i got my third replacment yesterday , this time 0 pixel errors and really small light bleeding i gona keep this one if i change it again maybe i will get worse again

going to the meadowhall store in sheffield tomorrow to get this replaced. i can't be bothered to wait for them to send me an envelope and wait...
they said i can go and get a replacement straight away. they booked me a time slot.
i think if i get one with no scratches and dings... i will keep it - depending on how bad the bleed is but i am getting tired now of waiting and worrying. haha.

Google "Dead pixel test" and use the second listing, which will direct you to a site where it's easy to test for DP on any display.

That must be the sweet spot as if any bleed occurs, it's usually right there. My second one has a very slight bleed at the same spot, with no other spots, so I elected to keep it. My first one had an extremely bright spot at the same area that was very noticeable when watching movies. If it's not too noticeable when watching movies with a dark background, I'd say keep it. Otherwise, you might get one that is much worse.
