Cool, are you Danish? Got the link from mobildebat.dk.

Hey, I am from Denmark, actually. I am a bit curious...have you had yours exchanged somewhere in Denmark? If so, where did you buy it?
The reason I am asking is I bought mine in Fona and IF I choose to exchange it, not over light bleeding but over colour uniformity (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1181934/) - it also has quite a bit of bleeding though, I wonder if I'll have any problems with it...

Great Screen

Ok so I waited a few months after 2 returns. I got an Ipad when they first came out. Very happy with my iPad2 screen today from my return the backlight is perfect.

I did get a brown box version. What the hell I am happy. Sorry but videos on the iPad with the light bleed is just too much for me.

:)

I got a brown-box version, too, when I exchanged at the Apple store. The screen looks great, and I have no complaints.:)

6th replacement will be here in the morning (I hope, because it still says it left china) will report results

This is going to be a white box

Edit: Not here, just arrived in AK, on it's way to NC

Easy Swap at Upper West Side Manhattan Apple Store

Had the same backlight bleed issue... made a genius bar appt online for the UWS Manhattan Apple Store, met the associate, showed it to him in dark light under the table, he said "yep, we will swap that out right now."

In and out with a brand new ipad with no issues in 8 minutes... very happy.

Here is a picture:

This problem definitely hasn't been fixed:

So, to make things in to a short story:

April 13th: Buy my iPad 2 64GB Wi-Fi, greeted with light bleed, but I put up with it (until I know there is a fix)

May 29th: Give iPad 2 Wi-Fi away, Buy iPad 2 64GB 3G, still has light bleed

Mid-June: Replacement #1, 3 Dead Pixels

Mid-June: Replacement #2 for dead pixels has a loose home button

Early-July: Replacement #3 Apple denies me replacement, but after they damaged my iPad, they replaced it

Mid-July: Replacement #4 for loose home button has lines on the screen when waking up

Late-July: Replacement #5 is and advanced replacement in the mail, due to bad experience at the store, Bad Bleeding, Still has Lines and terrible build quality, went back

Early-August: Replacement #6 Advanced CRU (white box), Bad Bleeding, going back now

I have decided to keep my 4th replacement with minimal bleeding and lines on the screen when waking up only because when the iPad 3 comes out, they said they will replace my iPad 2 with the iPad 3

Now, BRING ON THE RUMORS!!!! :D

Ok, well, I just got some more information, this person was from dispatch and had no right to promise that I would be able to upgrade my iPad 2 to the iPad 3

I talked tonight to a Corporate Customer Care Administrator and they said either I could get a refund, or keep my current (4th replacement) iPad, I asked her if later down the road I could get a replacement if all signs point to the problems have been fixed, she said there is a small chance that I might not be able to replace again, this is getting me a little concerned that I might be stuch with a very expensive lemon and my AppleCare that I bought would not help me in any way

I just hope either the problem is fixed and I can get a replacement or my current iPad is the best I will ever get

Hi all,
first of all, i live in indonesia. here, finding iPad2 is quite hard so we can't just go to the apple store and say "i got a screen bleeding and i want a new set right now."
at least we have to wait weeks for that. so, i try my luck to hit the apple store and managed myself to bought 2 iPad2 3G 32GB black colour. one for my friend, and the other one is for me.
we opened the box together, and the very first thing we checked is the screen bleeding (of course).
take it to the dark room, brightness is 50% (factory default setting).
both of the iPad serial number started with DLXG2
here is what we got:
number 1 is my friend's, number 2 is mine.
seriously, did i hit the jackpot button? as far as i can see, its totally black. no yellowish thing, but i can see the screen bleeding from my friend's ipad literally. we had the same serial number. is it strange or normal to see two different ipad screen from the same week production? (judging from the serial number)
thanks alot.

Quick question -

I'm thinking about buying an iPad in the coming week or so. I figure i'll try my luck with the back light bleeding issue and if it turns into too much of a hassle, i'll simply return it for my money back and wait.

I looked over most of this thread and it seems everyone returns their iPads to Apple. Is this because everyone is buying their iPads from them directly or is it because they also bought AppleCare?

I have a 100 dollar gift card from Best Buy that's pretty much no use to me at the moment (have nothing else I wish to buy) and wouldn't mind being able to use it towards the purchase.

If I purchased AppleCare does that mean I don't have to deal with Best Buy and can contact Apple for replacements? Also, has anyone dealt with Best Buy and their return policy for such issues (will trying to return it more than once or twice be an issue)?

Thanks

You can take it back to Apple for repair no matter where you bought it from you just can't get a refund. If you did not buy it from Apple you would have to go back to the place of purchase for the refund and Apple Care does not change that.

I am now convinced that the light bleed issue is at least partially being remedied by whoever does the refurbs, or it's just not as big of a problem as it seems at first glance.

My personal iPad woes stem from dust under the screen. My first one had almost no light bleed (just one or two small spots), but started developing lots of dust under the screen in a short period of time.

I traded for a second iPad which basically had zero light bleed, but ended up having 3 dead pixels as well as a dime sized area under the screen where it looked like some specks of water had gotten in and dried--there were little grayish white speckles that were pretty visible in certain light, but usually invisible. Last night I traded this unit in because of the worsening dead pixel problem.

My new iPad has very little bleed--about like my first one, just a small amount in a couple of spots along the edge. It has no dead pixels at all. There is one speck of dust under the screen that is pretty visible if you spend a second or two and look for it. I will probably hang on to this unit, as I don't think Apple is capable of giving me something without crap under the screen.

My point is, I've had 3 iPad 2s in a row that for all intents and purposes have NOT had the light bleed problem, and I have had seen some pretty bad cases of it on this thread alone. I have never had anything that looked like the flashlights shining from the corner and edges like I have seen on some peoples' units. So I think for the people who get it, they get it REALLY bad, but are probably the vocal minority. You also have to account for the fact that most people are not going to notice this and are not that OC about it.

P.S.-I will post a s/n and screenshot later when I'm not at work.
