Are you supposed to be able to actually see the LED? You can see it on the top of mine (under camera) but no where else. Man that thing is bright!

Yes, it's a new feature... like those reading lamps you put on laptops :D

Joking :p That's defective and I'd take it back to the store, a shame since your iPad seems perfect other wise :( Maybe see if they can repair it rather than replace it... if you get a replacement you probably get one with as good screen as you have right now.

There are a few minor "bumps" of light from the side at 100%. Like you can see where the LED is but you cant see the LED. There is also a tiny, like 1cm wide nick on the plastic. I feel like I am being obsessive now haha! This is my fourth one. On my third I turned it in for the 14 day cash back and waited 2 months. Now here I am with this one :p

Thanks for the input! I know it's silly but I'll prob. ask for my money back or a white box exchange. I don't like the thought of getting a brown box refurb.

Call apple and say you've already had four and complain and they'll probably put you through to a senior support person. Then just ask them for a new iPad and they'll do the paperwork for you and have you send in your old one ones you get a new one.

I had 4 bad ones but the new one they sent me was pretty good (read something about Apple switching the displays in newer ones) so kept it.

Good luck! :)

I have had two DQT, the first one was decent (minor bleeding on multiple corners) except for the exposed LED and a small chip (picture above) the second DQT had bleed from certain LED points. Pic below. Think this is the best I can get or should I play the lottery again?

Whats the first 5 letters, and in my opinion, as long as apple isn't tired of swapping it for you, you should try to get a better one

I think this one looks pretty good. That very minor bleed that you show is hardly noticeable. IMO :)

Exchanged a few more and got this. The camera doesn't pick it up but there is some minor bleed or light leakage (you can see like 4-5 points where the LEDs are becuase there is that bright bloom spot). That said, I think this is as good as one can get for the iPad 2. Esp. in the picture it looks good. Picture taken at max brightness using black photo.

SN starts with DLX

My serial starts with DLXFJ and I got it launch day in Canada but I noticed that the back light is getting worse. Could I get Apple to replace my iPad 2? As well how do I get them to send me a non-refrub iPad 2?

I've never seen a screen that leak-less... i'm jealous!:(

Mine? It def. has some leaks but they are small and don't show up well on the camera. Of course the metal on this thing is damaged (has very noticeable nicks and dings where the metal meets the glass). Not sure if its worth exchanging for that. I hate being a perfectionist and hate how much Apple's QC is slipping!

Hey guys,

I'm really considering buying an iPad. I have done my best to catch up on this mammoth thread but there is something that I can't quite figure out.

Lots of people are complaining about their launch iPad and replacements but some serial numbers seem to be fine.

Does this mean that the new iPads on different serial numbers have had the light bleeding issue fixed?

Is it safe to buy a new iPad? This really puts me off, there seem to be some horror stories here and I frankly don't have the time to exchange 4-5 iPads.

Cheers,

Joe

I had 2 new ipads 2 reolacment ipad the last month with lightbleed. So its not fixed. Thr 3rd i use not is o k:). Only little bleed that i never see

I have a bit of a bleed on my iPad, had it for about four months. Seems like it might be getting worse in the last two months or so.

As far as i know, no problems :).

But I do have a 1/4 of a second "color lines" when tapping on/off fast. I know many others have too. You can only see it from certan angels.

Someone posted a video of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py0GwZG9QDs

It's nothing that i think about.

Ya, that was me, i hope my new one dosnt do that. If it has a screen like yours, I'll put up with it
