Wonderful! I'd like to know if anybody here who did their best to make sure that we accept this junk are now going to exchange when these new panels are out in the wild?

I think LG should pay for all the gas I wasted running around and the wasted screen protectors too. ;)

This PROVES all the resident fanboy / experts wrong, with their defenses:

"It's not a problem, mines fine (they say)"

"You're being too picky"

"They all do that"

"Backlights emit light, therefore it's normal"

" blah, blah, blah, blah, LOL.

I must admit, they are some very entertaining "experts".

Welp, those of us who have extensive experience with LCD panels and have also seen a ton of iPad 2's were right from the beginning. It was either a manufacturing process problem or a panel problem. The kind of bleeding we saw in the iPad 2's were not the standard flashlight style LCD bleeds in other panels.

Long story short, the apologists get a slap in the face again, just like what happened with antennagate.

LOL, I bet they (fanboys/experts) are calling up Apple support and asking for replacements. Though Apple is also partially at fault. They should have caught the defective displays and rejected the shipment as opposed to building them and selling to customers.

Very Well Said !

Unlike Apple fanboys, I don't "hate" or "trash" Apple, Android, Nokia, Microsoft, etc. I simply share my personal experiences.

I _do_ speak out when I have something about Apple, Android, Nokia, Microsoft, etc. that I do not agree with.

I believe that speaking out fairly and honestly is the positive feedback that manufacturers benefit from. If not they would never know exactly what we like or dislike. And if it's something I dislike I have no compulsion to trash it, I simply call it to their attention.

The way I see it we are all tech enthusiasts and speaking for myself I don't having any burning desire to choose one platform over the other (even though I am very passionate, and _do_ prefer_ Apple) when discussing pros and cons.

If others spent less time arguing like children, calling each other names and the like, we could get a lot more done here.

It'd be nice to know when it would be safe to swap out our defective iPad 2s (mine has a dead pixel) and be sure that we'd not get another bad one that has light leak or dead pixels.

Not sure why I didn't think of this first but I love this perspective and will be doing the SAME thing... when iPad 3 is announced instead of hopping in line for retina/3D/whatever display I will have no temptation to buy early. There is NO WAY I'm going through this again and will let others beta test iPad 3 that time around.

I'm certainly glad I wasn't able to pick one up at the store and found this thread before I was able to get one. ;) I didn't want to order online due to the wait time. I figured if I could wait for delivery, I certainly could wait until stock was available at retail where I could get the personal set up done as well. Glad to see the issue being addressed. :D

I went to the Apple Store today. The Genius took my iPad and the replacement one he picked out and stood inside the janitor's closet with the lights out and came back out and said "the new one is better." He gave me it and I took it home, and to my surprise there looks to be no light leakage from where I'm standing. :apple:

brown box or new retail box?

Really starting to get the hump now, picked up my 5th from the apple store, STILL horrible yellow splodges are appearing, i just give up, not only that im going to start looking like a right **** keep going in the store swapping (thats how i feel) just not sure what to do, if its worth going the apple care route, its even starting to cost a fortune going backwards and forwards to the store.

It also proves that many people who have been saying that they have no backlight problems at all are correct as well.

Very true. Seems like many have been just as bad saying all iPads had the problem and just called those saying they didn't have a problem a "resident fanboy / expert" ;)
