myiTunesSpace...?

guys, how about iTunes 8.0 is becoming a mySpace-Facebook-like community thing...so everyone is starting to use iChat on a free acount so when the iPhone with video chat is coming next year it would make sense using it!

i love making up things... :)

iPods are nice; I already own 3 . . . . but what Apple REALLY needs to do is introduce a new line of COMPETITIVE notebooks.

A stroll through Best Buy shows that several high-quality manufacturers (Sony, HP, Toshiba, etc.) are now selling excellent notebook computers for significantly less than $1,000. Apple is dropping far behind in the cost-value notebook market.

I own two Macintosh computers, but I also own a $600 HP notebook that is a really excellent product. Business people (and most students) have to make functionality-versus-cost choices and cutesy things like thin aluminum shells just don't compete.

I love Apple products . . . . . but I believe that Apple is in serious danger of losing out in the huge notebook market unless strong action is taken soon.

i'd honestly like it if iTunes 8 was just a music player and a new "iDock" application came about but that won't happen as iTunes is too much of a branding staple for apple. but I also would love too see a modular iTunes, something we can make the footprint smaller, example being that I don't own a tv, so i don't need to install those functions thus making the app smaller and faster.... pipe dream, but it would be cool

but PERHAPS! iTunes could be integrated into finder for the MAC side of computing. Being able to just sync and manage files straight from finder would be pretty cool and slicken the interface

My thoughts exactly...

Although I'm not in the market for a new ipod, my 3G ipod still works great as does my iphone, it's always nice to see new hardware

That's actually a smart idea!! It would be GREAT if they did something along those lines, though admittedly it doesn't sound very "Apple."

Oh, and not sure if this has already been mentioned on this thread (don't have time to read 17 pages, and my search didn't come up with anything) -- but a good friend of mine who has really strong connections to the U2 world mentioned that the band filmed a new iPod commercial recently. So don't be surprised to see an updated version of the U2 iPod (Touch this time?) debuting tomorrow!!

Alot of people wishing for cameras in the touch.. I for one completely disagree with this and hope they keep cameras far away from the touch.. I can understand a camera in the iPhone since it is a phone and most people expect cameras in phones, but not in a PDA/Music Player. I already have a horrible low-res camera in my phone, why would I want 2?

I'm with you. My 3G classic still works like a charm even after all these years. The only reason I am going to upgrade to the touch is that I finally filled my 13.8GB and also the fact that they stopped updating the ipod software on this model and its too dumb to remember play position of podcasts if I stop listening. It gets annoying having to remember I left off at 45:32 the last time I listened to something (that and fast fowarding to that point every time).

I do get a bit of a heart attack thinking about replacing the 3G though. It has never once been in the shop or given me a single problem, but I see endless lines of people at the apple stores with ipod problems these days.

I totally agree on that.. I have been waiting for a new Macbook from apple since end of June. I probably would have to move on instead of waiting if Apple still doesn't release their New MacBook Range by October. :(

I'm honestly hoping for more than just ipods updates, hopefully something new.

We will be checking in early into the event and will be doing livecast on it.

Tomorrow's keynote coverage http://live.slashgear.com/

No need to refresh, all ajax based.

I just want them to fix my iPhone so it doesn't crash, hangup and need to be rebooted constantly. Is that too much to ask?

Maybe they can release version 1.0 again....at least that one worked!

I'm totally with you on that... I just completely reinstalled my 2G wit 2.0.2 for the 7th time since 2.0

still, i love it, its like complicated girlfriends, you can't get enough of them either

Well, there's surely no disadvantage to having two cameras. How would having a camera on the iPod touch actually be bad for you? You may not use it, but I doubt it would negatively impact your iPod experience. Thus, I don't see how you can be against having a camera on the iPod touch.

Well said. I am afraid people are going to forget about the computers because of all of the stuff with the iPhone. It's becoming harder to wait for something, which should be so easy to release.

Sadly I had to. I could not wait any longer for Apple to finish dragging their feet. The shame of owning a pc is killing me. But I needed one so thanks Apple for the delay. Oh an d yes I could have purchased a current model. However, I needed an updated processor.

Sigh. I wish my 3G iPod still worked. The touch buttons started malfunctioning after about 5 years of life.

That being said I had the HDD, case, and logic board from it that I really need to throw up on eBay sometime. Maybe someone will want a 1.5" 30GB HDD.

Wait for it....

...the big news is that Apple will split of the iPod hardware and software business units into a separate company

Don't know if it will be a separate listed company or a fully owned subsidiary of Apple Inc.

It would be a big deal, don't you think?

hehe... yeah it'd certainly be a big deal.

Apple's more likely to spin off a "Macintosh" hardware company though - selling Mac Pros, Mac Books, iMacs, Xserves etc. Apple would continue to sell OSX, iLife, iWork (etc etc), iPods, iPhone.... and just to look more like Microsoft they'd keep selling AppleTVs, keyboards, & mice :). And they'd sell to HP and Dell!

No I don't think this would happen! And in the past year I've finally come around to the advantages of owning the software and hardware.

ps. Spinning off something is not a product transition either.

My thoughts as well !:apple:

Bluetooth Stereo Headset(s) for the iPhone and iPod Touch? Anyone?

would be awesome. but how about a more robust bluetooth ability as well, like the ability to update contacts without needing to plug it in, or the ability to use bluetooth in a bluethooth enabled car such as, oh, most new models that are coming out now to be able to play music and answer the phone without needing to touch the phone itself . . . you know, what bluetooth was invented for . . .

I happen to be over from England in San Francisco for the next 3 days and was just wondering if there is any point in me heading down to the Yerba Buena Center.

I realise this is a press event so I won't be able to gain access to the keynote but will there be anything to see outside? Anyone else gathering to watch the live text feeds etc?

Would seem a bit odd to sit in my hotel room on my laptop seeing what happens when the event is happening down the road.
