Did you have to sit in the nose bleed section? They say all the seats are a good view, but with some 5000 less seats, I wonder how they have it? Do you feel closer to the field or farther away and are there any bad viewing sections? I can still remember field level seats at the old Busch where people had to negotiate looking around posts.

Nah, we were in section 165 down the 3rd base line, but then again, we paid over $100 for 4 tickets. We had an excellent view, I've yet to be in the nosebleed section at the new stadium

So how about those Cardinals last night? Seems like the Tigers are losing any momentum that they had from game 2. I think the Cardinals now have the edge in the series and they'll win it in 6. I've always thought that, but now it's even more concrete than before.

I think we can win the next 2 games and win at home. Home field advantage is a true advantage for us in the world series, because Detroit doesn't get the DH. So they've got pitchers who haven't swung a bat all season, maybe even longer, batting, yet our pitchers have shown that they're good for something when batting. Look at Suppan's home run in the NLCS. With the Cards, a pitcher batting isn't just a wasted out like it is with some teams. Combined with that, and just the fact they're at home with the crowd keeping them energized, winning this in 5 is not out of the question at all. Plus, the Cards know that the fans want this won at home, and will probably put even more effort in to make that happen

BTW-IJ won the bet for the night. FOX pounced on the hand several minutes before the first pitch. Their coverage is simply the worst. They talked over Rolen's at bat, talked over Eckstein to Wilson, missed pitches while selling Taco Bell in the bleachers, missed more pitches checking out peroxide blondes looking through binoculars.

Ha. Thanks for letting me know -- I missed the first inning.

As for the booth blabbermouths, I wonder -- if no baseball fan I've ever met likes this approach to announcing (and I've never found one who does), then why the hell does it persist? And not just at FOX -- ESPN is even worse IMO! They do test market this stuff, don't they? So with whom does having three boring guys yacking to each other and generally ignoring the game, test well?

Or maybe, just maybe, this is why rating have been steadily declining for the World Series for the last 25 years. Hard as it may be to believe, perhaps they really don't know why they are being switched off.

Our "reserve level" season tickets at Dodger Stadium are still only $16.00. They are very good seats in the second level right behind home plate. They went up $2.00 last season. The year before, I sold one spare ticket to a sold-out game a scalper for $10.00. When a young guy sat down in the seat I asked how much he'd paid. He said $40.00. He was from Boston, in LA on business. He figured he was getting a bargain. I guess $40.00 doesn't even get you through the gates at Fenway.

Still, it's painful to shell out for those $3.50 Dodger Dogs and $7.50 cups of beer.

Suppan vs. Bonderman on for tonight.

Bonderman (14-8; ERA - 4.08) last pitched on 14 Oct and went 6.2 with 3 ER. Will 11 days off be a positive or negative?

Suppan (12-7; ERA 4.12) last pitched on 19 Oct. and went 7 with 1 ER. There's one little but significant stat that caught my eye. Suppan's 6/7 losses were night games with an ERA of 4.62. Bonderman's 6/8 losses were day games and he gives up the long ball. Should we expect some hitting away from both clubs, tonight?

That said, the days of dropping just under a $100 bucks at the ballpark for a family of four are way gone.
You can't be serious. Not that I'm a fan (I just lived there), but go to an O's game. You can get in any day for $9/pp, 8 on Tuesday, or free on Wednesday (bring the reciept from a Wendy's Combo meal). Buy your peanuts, sodas and hot dogs outside the stadium. You're talking 36+2+5+10=$53. Parking, if you drive, will cost I think 10 (I lived in the shadow of Camden Yards).

So, $63 for a family of four to park and to have a ticket, two hot dogs, a soda per person and share a couple bags of peanuts isn't too bad. Better than going to the movies...

I am serious. And I've been a fan for years. 2006 Season tickets for STL start @ $13 for Standing Room Only or the nosebleed section, and I wouldn't make that a family outing. Bleachers, which is a wait in line for first comers, is from $16-21 and it goes all the way up to $240 for Club Seats. I don't know where you buy your peanuts and cokes, hot dogs and all the trimmings , but for a family of four to have two hot dogs each, a bag of peanuts and a coke, I'd challenge the $7 figure let alone the hassle of smuggling all that in to the park. All that plus parking at St. Louis and it's easily over $100.

Plane fares to see the O's is hardly an option for the ballpark savings. :p

Plus that teams just not that good, that might be a reason why everything is so cheap. They are not spending any money on players so no need to over charge.

I rooting for the Cardinals.

I just can't believe the 8th and 7th seed teams are battling for the championship.

I thought the Twins and the Dodgers were going to be in the WS...

The Tigers are more like the 2 or 3 seed going by the season standings. Wild Card means nothing in baseball, Its just a spot in the playoffs.

The Cardinals and the Tigers were the worst teams at the end of the season going into the playoffs. They both were really bad in the month of September.

Cardinals beat the Astros by a couple of games and the Tigers fell out of first place right at the end and had to battle the White Sox for the Wild Card.

Not too many people chose the Cardinals and Tigers in the Series...

The White Sox were long out of it, The Tigers and Twins were battling for the WildCard.

Still...

Did you think the Tigers would beat the Yankees and Twins...

I know the A's did the Tigers a favor in catching the Twins off guard.

Off the subject:

Does anybody think that Kenny is using something extra on the ball?

Get 'em in, let 'em buy some concessions, then call the game.

Now that's baseball. ;)
Add another cynic to the list. I laughed, too. :D Or, if the Cards lead at the end of 5, call it. And who cares about a free taco, FOX?

I think he's just using something extra....

I don't know he is, but it seems likely. Him and dozens of other major-league pitchers.

We should try to remember that the next time some pundit proclaims how important it is to be on a hot streak going into the playoffs. It's important unless it isn't.

Usually when teams are hot going into the playoffs they run out of gas, Yankees and Mets. The teams that cool off a bit recharge for the post season.

Kenny is 4 innings away from the post season record set in 1904.
