Hey everyone, I'm a little confused here so would appreciate it if you guys could help me out.
As I've mentioned above, nothing has worked for me (I get a lot of phantom usage, refer to the posts above).
However, I realized that turning on airplane mode completely resolved the issue, i.e. no more phantom usage.
Now, I've tried turning off cellular data, wifi, location services, and bluetooth off one by one, but none of these resolved the issue.
From what I understand, airplane mode disables these 4 services along with phone calls and messages. So isn't having all of the 4 services off equal to having airplane mode less the calls/messages? Then why is that airplane mode stops the issues but turning those services off doesn't?
I have iMessage off btw.
My first "defective" phone worked for a day or so without any phantom usage increases when I turned off all Notifications. But the problem came back and I couldn't do any to resolve the phantom usage issue from that point on until I got a replacement phone.
When you toggle the Airplane mode, I am sure your phone reinitialized hardware components and it might have cleared the abnormal interaction between the firmware and hardware.
If your phone continues to work, that is great. If your phone is indeed "defective", the problem will come back. When it does come back, you know what to do...
