signal is mostly full 3G.

But still like i said, is 4 hours usage really acceptable?

depends what the "usage" is. 4 hours of straight up turn-by-turn navigation is excellent. 4 hours of music play is horrible. 4 hours of hi-def gaming is great. 4 hours of talk time is bad. You see where I'm going with this...

Ive just been browsing the internet, nothing major. twitter, facebook, safari etc.

2 days standby, and 6 hours use and it died (while I was on a phone call). I think that's decent, no? Oh, and I have all location services off, and bluetooth off.

I think part of the reason why I question my 4S battery life is because so many people are making a fuss of it, and as it seems many do indeed have poor life. Since I only use my phone on average about 3 hours/day based on my stats, I suppose charging every 2 days isn't too shabby.

Looks good. But it is better for the life of the battery if you do partial recharges then full discharge. In your case just charge each night. Lithium batteries prefer that. Every couple months you can do a full discharge.

I had 3-4% drain per hour in standby (full 3g coverage).
I switched to other operator and the drain reduced to 1%/hour in standby.

Luckily for me, i have SIM of operator, that has national roaming with other 2, so i can choose.

What do you get overnight?

It's weird I got 4% over 8'hours but the day before somehow lost 14%

Now i get around 10% drop overnight but before it was almost 30%.
I will check with the third operator tonight to have the bigger picture.

I can really see the difference after switching the carrier. Before it was terrible - i was afraid to touch the device, cause it was loosing battery so quick.
Now it is not perfect but gives hope of normal usage.

BTW: i`m using gmail as exchange with push.

You leave push on overnight?

an exorcist?

kidding, if you didnt install any apps or modify any settings, etc.

try draining your iphone battery, and then charge it. gauge may have gone haywired

No, I don't have any of these two.

1. Are you using a Mac or PC for iTunes?
2. Do you have more apple devices? iPad? Another iPhone?
3. Do you have home sharing on?
4. Does you drainage stop when disabling 3G data on your phone?
5. Did you do something special to your iphone/PC/Mac when the drainage started? Updates maybe?
6. Does disabling iCloud on your phone and an iPhone network reset help you get rid of the drainage?

My own iPhone is draining 30 percent over night when using wifi-sync. Somehow there seem to be two classes of errors since there are users with about the same drainage without using wifi-sync ( This might be syncing over 3G instead of wi-fi )

Regards.

So, you don't use wifi and you don't use 3G and still the drainage is there?

Can you try these two steps ( separately ) and check the drainage?
1. Remove your sim card.
2. Insert your sim card again and switch to airplane mode.

Thanx for sharing this info! :)

The phantom usage is still there, but thanks for advices.

Umm, WTF? 12 hours standby, I see 7% battery drop...

That's more than 2% battery drop per hour, I'm gonna get 50 hours standby compared to 200 that apple claims?

Math is hard... 7% drop in 12 hrs is almost 1/2% per hour which makes 1% every 2 hrs. 100%x2hrs(for 1% loss)= 200 hrs... The number Apple quotes. 2% an hour and you would lose 24% in your 12 hrs.
