Will I loose all the app data?

Make an iTunes or iCloud backup before doing the restore. Then, after the restore is finished, restore your backup and everything should go back the way it was.

I would also like to add that I have seen noticeable improvement in my battery life after doing the restore to the 9A406 build. Before, my SIM card slot would get warm when browsing the web. This is no longer happening and my standby usage has dropped to virtually nil. Today, after nearly 6 hours of standby and 30 mins of usage, my battery was still at 90%. That's way better than what I had been getting with 9A405. Your milage my vary of course, but I think it's worth giving it a shot. The whole restore process only took about 20-30 mins.

Just had my iPhone replaced for an unrelated issue. Came loaded with iOS 5 - everything working fine. Upgraded just a few days ago to 5.01, and the problems have started (battery drains 50-100% faster on standby than before - not the end of the world, but annoying when previously it was so much better).

My surprise however is that I only installed the iOS 5.01 update last week, but it only updated to build 9A405. Shouldn't it have automatically updated to the latest build (9A406) since the update was so recent?

Thoughts welcome.

I bought an iP4S over the weekend from an ATT store and it came with 9A406. Battery life so far feels similar to the iP4 that it replaced. I'm happy.

This is with the latest 5.1 beta 3 that enables the "Enable 3G" Switch. My usage includes lots of gaming, 3g is off except for browsing, push is on

I've got a new iPhone 4S, production week 53, came with 5.0.1 (9A406). I noticed some battery drainage and almost immediately installed 5.1 beta 3, turned off 3G, cellular data, Bluetooth, automatic date&time, maybe something else. Most of usage was music, random stuff in contacts & menus, few camera shots, ~10 mins of FaceTime, iCloud syncing of contacts & photostream via wifi, about 1h30m of phone calls. Here's after the first full charge & discharge cycle:

Well, it seems to be better then on 5.0.1, but I'm wondering, how does it compare to similar usage on iPhone 4? I have a feeling that my old iPhone 3G would last more, although I didn't use video camera, push or iCloud there. What do you guys think?

This is great battery life.

I've noticed words with friends can't be shut down. Turning off all of it in notification center and shutting the app it still remains connected to the Internet asking for game updates. If you leave the app badge as the only notification, close the app and get someone to play against you you'll see the number go up. Or am I missing something?

I wonder how many other apps are doing this? And my battery is worse having it installed. Only way to stop it is to delete the thing.

My "solution"...

Had the 4S for a couple of months without any battery issues before encountering major draining issues while migrating from MobileMe to iCloud. Ended up "solving" the issue by turning off [reminders] [bookmarks] [notes] [mail] [find my iPhone] and [photostream].

Been a faithful user for over 4 years (MacPro, MBA, MBP, all versions of iPhone, all versions of iPad) and my faith in Apple being able to release a major glitch free product has been shaken. No longer will I purchase knowing that the premium pricing equates to a flawless product.

I think you might be on something here. I upgraded to 06 and all was good. Yesterday I played words and now my battery on my 4s sucks again.
