For me the notch is a plus (I find the pillbox on the 14 Pro quite horrid).

However I wouldn't want to downgrade in terms of cameras. I like that I get 0.5x, 1x and 2x on my 11 Pro. I use all of them. What do you get on the regular 14? Just 0.5x and 1x?

Quality wise I compared the 11 Pro vs the 14 Pro and yes if you zoom in you see the extra detail the new phone gives. But personally I don't really care about that, I don't do crops or large prints.

Checking again the line up. Biggest pros are:

- weight (ca. 20% less than the pro Max)
- Price

cons:

- looks “cheap“ (only 2 cams)
- looks “old” (still has the notch)

We will see how the customers react.

Notch is FTW. Dynamic Island is a solution to a problem that didn’t exist until they punched a massive black hole into the display area.

In my view at least. Not looking to drag anyone into Opinion Wars so you’re welcome to disagree 👍

I was not discussing the functionality and if it makes sense or not. I only tried to think like a normal customer who is not deep into the technical details. They "see" the differences. And the "black hole" is something new. The notch stands for the old iphones.

I honestly prefer the notch as well after having the 14pro for a few weeks 🤷‍♂️

The dynamic island action could have been accomplish with a notch. That would have been cool.

Today another one of my coworkers just bought an 14 plus. I said to her “you bought a new phone”, she responded “I think it’s the 14 pro. I thought it was funny she didn’t even know which iPhone she just bought.
Oh that poor woman 🤣

Many seem to appreciate the 14 plus lightness over the 13/14 Pro Max heft.

Sales of 14 a a whole seem media hype, I've not seen many in the wild and there are strong economic headwinds blowing against most the population from buying new phones.

It’s not media hype if availability is not there… they’d be loads in stores or on the Apple website available to buy… the 14 is selling, especially the pro models and you likely don’t notice them being used as without seeing the screen at first glance it looks like a 13.

I do.
I prefer my daughter's 12 and son's 12 mini over my 14 Pro.
Enough that I'm really torn about trading mine in.
(especially because the battery life of the 14 Pro sucks)

You would gain quite a bit of battery life with the 14 Plus, but it's very similar in weight to your 14 Pro.
The standard 14 is lighter but might only give you an extra 30 min +/- of screen on time.

The OP just states the obvious, why do posts like this need to exist?

Can people pause a moment before they hit send on a post and ask REALLY what they're putting out into the world.

On weight alone, the 14 Plus weighs less than the 14 Pro (non-Max).
The annoying lack-of-balance (in my hand) of the Pro series - Steve Jobs would have lost his sh-t - is really bothering me.

Apple is going from dumb to dumber with these constant weight and thickness increases in phones.

They're beyond not carryable. They actually hurt!

Is this a joke? The heaviest is 203g - usually humans are capable to carrying this type of weight quite easily! And to criticise the thickness makes me think your trolling when just about everyone is saying "I wouldn't mind an extra 1 or 2mm if the battery actually lasted the day" - are your pockets the thickness of credit cards ? If so, change your pants... You would have hated the 80's, you...

No they don't not for me anyway. Granted I have a handicap with two missing fingers on my right hand but I manage just fune with my 13 PM. I would not trade the battery life for ever thinner phones.

Some people. The Internet isn’t a hive mind.
It sure seems like the internet is a collective.
Moreover, I don’t actually know a single person in RL who ever cared one way or the other about the notch. So from my perspective Apple caved to tech forum peer pressure and made everything worse in the process.
No apple didnt cave to internet peer pressure in spite of my/s comment.

I’m a newbie, but occasional lurker lol. I don’t even consider the pro max bc it is too heavy. The 14 plus has been worth it to me in order to have a large screen iPhone with a reasonable weight.

By too heavy, I don’t mean that I can’t hold it as some joke, but rather it’s uncomfortable to do so. It’s even worse with a case. For a few minutes it’s fine, but I use my phone for hours a day, and after a certain point the pros feel like bricks. I use a case like many do, so having stainless steel for a “premium” look is pointless.

My sister will be getting a 14 plus this summer bc she is impressed with how it feels in the hand, as well as the performance.

What they really need is an iPhone SE Plus. My old man has bad eyes so anything with the smaller screens are out. The only options I have for him is the 14 Plus and Pro Max, both expensive options for someone that does nothing but watch Youtube on his phone.

An SE plus in an 8 plus body is my dream phone, pretty please Apple 🙏
