ya what the hell is going on?????

They are probably just waiting to make sure the iOS update is going smooth without any glitches. When 75% of your revenue comes from iOS devices that becomes priority. The iTunes update should come sometime in the next few hours.

Edit: I guess they say it's out. I'm checking.

Beats1 isn't just 1 type of music, there's a wide range, from launch until now, we've had rock, r&B, hip hop, old stuff, new stuff. There's shows from varying types of people coming up. Binning the whole station off because you don't like 1 show is stupid. It's like saying you hate HBO as a whole, because you don't like Game of Thrones...

I mean...anyone who doesn't like Game of Thrones obviously has poor taste and their opinion is automatically invalid anyway. lol

And to people who are saying it's all mainstream & pop...hardly. Julie played Levelz and Mele. Neither are mainstream in the least. And Stevie Wonder is pop music. I think people like to apply these terms loosely when they really mean "they are playing things that aren't my taste."

Erbo on the other hand is Hot97 and is straight up mainstream NYC hip-hop. And he will talk a lot. I love him too.

....and now he's playing Paul Revere. Do your thing, Erbo!

What kind of music is that? Classical? What it started with, what it's playing now, or the Nina Simone "Feeling Good" cover? So far, I can't find any "type" of music it's playing exclusively--though I suppose if you're into Classical, you'll lkely never hear that.

But, hey, if it's not for you that's fine with me. I just don't understand why you felt the need to say so--you don't have to say "no thanks" to everything offered you

They probably won't play any Country either which I enjoy from time to time, but they still have genre specific stations so why not just listen to those?

I'm looking forward to Josh Homme's show and Elton John's, since I'm a bit eclectic with my tastes.. :) That's the cool thing, there's going to be quite a range, so you never know :)

But how many songs actually have that sort of language?

Seems a bit short sighted to not listen to Beats 1 at all because they might occasionally play an edite

Did the cuts affect Zane's show much?

What was great about his show earlier was that it was exactly like his R1 show - there was no hint whatsoever of it being geared any differently.

Have been enjoying Annie Mac in his old slot - so really it's a win win for us in the UK who used to listen to Zane as its like having another version of evening R1.

Well Zane was pretty happy at the BBC but rumours are he wanted a fresh challenge and there is no doubt Apple are paying him very well.

I missed Zane's show but audiences at Radio 1 have been falling for the last year or so and most of it is down to cuts in terms of personnel and also the boss of R1 shifting focus to more commercial stuff. Thankfully Beats One will likely be free from such constraints.

Did he have a point? I honestly didn't read it.

Yes. You argue that YouTube is uncensored, but actually, adults can enable safety features, thereby censoring it. I have the safety stuff turned on when my 9 year old godson is messing around on YouTube. So you trying to use YouTube as your winning point is a simple fail....

You simply cannot have a free radio station that's broadcasting globally, be uncensored. Many countries have laws, etc, which Apple have to abide by. This is a worldwide station, not a US station, which you seem to be totally forgetting. Maybe if it was US only, it might be different.

Hell is that Ebro guy terrible.

How about Beats2 with nice music? ;)

Nice music and calling Ebro is terrible is extremely subjective. There's many different shows coming up, if you check out the schedule, maybe some will be to your taste, but it's good to give each a try, to see what you like. Too many people are basing their opinion on one or 2 shows, which is daft. It's obvious that there's going to be shows with specific genres in mind, then there's shows which will be a wider range.

Why do some people think DJs were the reason people moved away from terrestrial radio? Was it not because of the abundance of commercials? The US has many popular nationally syndicated DJs, like Casey Kasem's America's Top 40 or Delilah's nightly show, that people deliberately tune in to listen too because of the DJ.

That's what I thought, but after hours of junk my ears are bleeding. Especially from the crap Ebro is playing 8( Imo was all I heard the last few hours very us centric and that stuff is not really liked in huge parts of the world.

Edit: btw, is Ebro really so hard to understand? I always though I had good english understanding but he is really hard to get often.

US Centric? Both Zane & Julie are from the UK. Most of the stuff they played isn't US centric at all. Erbo is a hip-hop DJ, which is hugely popular around the world. That's what he plays. I suggest turning off the radio until someone you like comes on if you don't like it. It's not for everyone. You should move on.

Ebro is playing a lot of US centric music because he's wanting to bring New York to the rest of the world... Julie played some UK centric music, seems like it's to their taste and how they want to play tracks to the world. So it's nice that you can tune in at any time of the day and get a different taste of music from around the world that you may have not heard before.

PS. Ebro played a lot of siren music when I was running in downtown Fort Worth just a bit ago, I kept looking around for the fire trucks and making sure I didn't get hit while crossing streets ;)

EDIT: here's the schedule and when the main 3 DJs are on: http://applemusic.tumblr.com/beats1

Did you check out Zane Lowe's show? That was different. Hell, he launched with a small upcoming band from the UK, so not even remotely US centric. If you don't like Ebro, fair enough, stop listening to him and come back when he's finished. Have a look at the schedule, google some of the DJ's, if you don't know them, then you might get an idea of what they're going to play. Beats1 is not going to appeal to everyone at all times of the day. Personally, I'm not into Ebro, so i've turned it off and switched to my own playlists. I'll drop back in again when it's someone else.

Saying that they're playing something that's not really liked in huge parts of the world is flat out wrong. YOU don't like it, does not mean the rest of the world does not either. Ebro was playing a lot of Eminem & Jay-Z, they're not my taste, but they are big in the UK and Europe, along with the rest of the world, not just the US....

Actually, Zane's from New Zealand, we just stole him for a while :)
