I love iOS, and upon getting a new iDevice I make an Apple folder and throw in all the Apple apps, then use my preferred third-party apps.

If it's built into iOS it'll be less like 'I'm choosing beats over Spotify' and more 'I use my iPhone to stream music. 'How?' 'I dunno. It's just built in.'

So make iOS more bloated which should be part of iTunes Match instead Apple wants to pay a separate subscription for it, what a fail. This is why I miss Steve Jobs he would not have made it still separate something he took over, I really feel sorry for Tim Cook.

They really need to implement a method to either delete unwanted default apps or make them like Facebook etc. links in the settings but the app is downloaded separately.

This is just a waste of space on the device for those that will never use the service.

Yeah... that was one of the beauties of iPhones and the iOS platform... you didn't have to worry about all the bloat. Not so much anymore. I guess as long as they aren't taking up a lot of space (app is 18MB at the moment) I can folder it and ignore it as I have the rest of the bloat.

does the icon bother you that much ????? i really don't understand some people on here. Ive never tried beats and I'm willing to give it a try, if not then hey who cares.

STOP WHINING

Does your brain not comprehend about bloatware? Why would anyone want something on their iPhone that they will not use for one of the reason because it will not be part of iTunes or iTunes Match customers?

It seems like people are not understanding that all Apple customers wanted Beats to change from iTunes Radio to Spotify style instead we are forced to pay for another Apple App separate.

Find my Friends doesn't come with the iPhone, and Passbook is crucial for Apple Pay.

This app better not be a part of iOS9, of all the bundled apps I've used:

phone
Calendar
Messages
Photos & Camera
passbook for Apple Pay
Maps
iTunes & App Stores
weather
Notes
Safari
Mail

I never use:
Stocks
Game Center
health
Newsstand
Reminders
Videos
Voice memos
Compass
Tips

And if it makes it Beats

you don't but others do...

I constantly use the video, health and reminders apps. My wife uses the voice memo app daily for work.

Having that bloated crap on my phone still isn't going to get me to switch from Spotify. Bundle an app with the OS that you have to PAY to use anyway? **** off Apple, holy jeez.

While we seem to be on the topic of bundled iOS apps, why doesn't Apple combine Notes and Voice Memos, FaceTime and Phone, Compass and Maps? iMessage and SMS aren't separate.

It also should be illegal to include Beats Music inside iOS... it's not fair competition (just like the EU did before with Microsoft and its Internet Explorer browser integrated into Windows)...

That's a really good point, actually.

I remember those days well, when MS got hammered by the courts, especially EU, for bundling a browser with its OS.
Billions of dollars in fines.. huge implications for the company... etc.

And yet nowadays, bundling of stuff with an OS is standard.

How very interesting...

Please no. Please stop forcing more bundled apps with iOS.

At the very least, Apple should include a delete function for stock apps we don't want/need. Then this becomes a non-issue, and the people who want Beats can be happy, while the people who don't want it are not affected.

ding ding ding

The day Apple bought Beats was the day Apple jumped the shark and the day it became obvious that Apple mgt cared not a wit about the company. Witness that Beats was $3bil and Google soon after bought Songza, a superior curation service, for $30mil.

It is not a matter now of whether Apple will come crashing down, just when.

That's ridiculous. Beats is profitable on the basis of its headphone sales alone. That $3 billion will be recouped in basically no time.

Frankly, everyone complains about iTunes. I greatly suspect that Apple's game was to buy Beats for a price that they could make the money back quickly through the headphone sales, then use the Beats software team to make a new iTunes and Music Player. It's not like that's a new tactic for them--iTunes itself is acquired software.

Nobody will hide the Beats app because it won't be any different from the Music app.

Another App that I never use and can't delete.

I mean I don't mind if apple includes things with iOS. I'm sure it's great for those that want it, but I'm not interested in a paid subscription music service. I just want the ability to delete or at least hide apps that I never use. Sure I can puit it is a folder but it's still clutter.

This. I used the free trial of Beats, and I saw no value in it (or any other paid music subscription service).

Beats has absolutely nothing I need or want that I don't already get from iTunes Radio, which is commercial free as a result of my iTunes Match subscription.

If Apple kills iTunes Radio in favor of this app I will NOT be a happy camper.

They should fold the Beats curation into iTunes Radio and also let customers pay $10.00-$15.00 per month to be able to stream the entire iTunes music catalog.

I don't want to just be able to stream the content Beats currently has access to. I want to be able to open iTunes, search for any artist or song in the iTunes Store, and stream that content immediately for a monthly/yearly, all you can stream price.

Once Apple makes that happen, I'll consider dropping Spotify. Until that happens, Spotify will remain my go to music service.

This article isn't entirely clear HOW it will be integrated; i.e., as a stand-alone app or part of iTunes or Music app. Does iTunes Radio get relaunched as Beats? I just can't see Apple packaging 3 music apps with iOS. Sounds like a Rube Goldberg contraption. That's the epitome of "unsimple."

Also what is the point of pushing Beats music from an iPhone to an Apple Watch? The iPhone's speaker is the most pathetic part about the device, yes, but I can't imagine the Apple Watch, which is smaller, will sound better. And as for BT handoff to a bigger speaker or headphones, the iPhone can already do that.

How would you feel if someone put items in your house that you will never use? Wouldn't it be better to let you decide what you want and only have things you want/need in your house?
