The Secret Machines last week at Manchester Academy [UK] -- a very, very small venue to say the least and a superb gig by TSM once more!!

So great infact that the following morning I purchased tickets to see them at The Leadmill [Sheffield] in March... that'll be the third time I've seen 'em -- without a doubt I'm a fan!!

And then onto The Go! Team in February along with sniffies [both for the second time] -- and both gigs are on consecutive nights!! I'm gonna be knackered!!!! ;)

Tough to describe really, I'd say prog house/trance, but mostly on the prog side. The set he played at Ice in Vegas though was pretty driving as well, so it was deceptive. He was mixing it up really well, so it was tough to describe - I guess that's a good thing. ;) There were definitely a few moments when I said to myself, "This is what defines Digweed".

Sounds good to me. I've seen him a few times where he just went plays too deep but he's more than capable of playing some awesome sets. His mixing can be amazing too. Very, very smooth and technically one of the best in the genre.

Absolutely - him and Sasha have some of the best mixing skills in the business. I remember back to the Northern Exposure compilations. They used computers to help mix their tracks perfectly for the first album, so it ended up being a true "studio production", and some people criticized them for that. So, for the next album in the series they mixed it all live/manually/whatever you want to call it, and it came out even better. :D

Renaissance is still one of my favorite all-time collections from them, and that's over 10 years old now. Classic.

Saw STS9 last week. Love those guys live ... lots of energy. Everyone here should see them ... you know, the whole PowerBooks on stage thing. ;)

A few months ago i saw the NIN/Queens show in Seattle. Lyrics Born is next.

Maybe i'll actually play a show this year???

I'm debating whether or not to buy a ticket to the Motion City Soundtrack show at the Gypsy Ballroom in Dallas. I won't be 17 then, so I wont be supposed to be let in, but most of the time they don't care... but if for some reason they do, I'm out cash and gas for the trip up.

But it is Motion City... argh!

Are you sure its only 18+? Some concerts I've been to they just mark an X on your hand so the bartenders don't serve you.

Either way, you could probably make the money back selling the ticket outside of the venue. I usually buy an extra ticket or two for concerts, and if I can't get anyone to come with me, I'll sell them outside and make enough to buy some merchandise. It's worked out well for me, the last three shows I've gone to have been sold out, and I've made a profit (not that I'm looking for one).

I'm only putting down the recent ones that I have really enjoyed:

Sufjan Stevens
Bunkbed Nights
Breathe Owl Breathe
The Snake The Cross The Crown
Broken Social Scene
The Arcade Fire

Of note, don't go see Bright Eyes or The Faint... not good (imho)

i dindt think anyone on this board had good taste in music :)

Jose Gonzalez at Brixton Academy, he's awesome live, he voice sounds just as it does on his album which is an album I would highly recommend.

I'm going to the Death Cab and Franz Ferdinand show on March 31st. It sucks that it isn't in a smaller, more intimate club. But Death Cab has done the club scene for so long, and I can definitely respect that. I guess they're going to tour larger venues now, but I can only hope that they go on another tour in smaller venues. But until then, this show will have to do...

The Panic! At the Disco and Academy is show sold out before I could get tickets (stupid me... I should've known that it would sell out quickly now that they're on MTV). I'm sure Panic will headline another tour (again, hopefully in small venues so they don't become the next FOB), and I'll definitely catch them then. Last time the lead singer wore my friend's blazer because it was a bit chilly outside. Maybe he'll remember us :)

I'd really like to catch Coachella this year ... the line up is amazing. Especially with Tool AND Massive Attack now joining on Sunday!!! :D The VIP packages are dope ... too bad they're so much $$$$. :(

I was at Coachella in 2002 (60,000 people!) and saw Pete Tong and BT spin the BBC Radio One Essential Mix live! Definitely the highlight for me, although Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers were pretty solid as well. Ah, good times...

Nice. I would have liked to see Prodigy and CB at that time.

How long are the sets? Do the headliners play longer? I'd really like to go, but not if my favorite bands are playing 30min. sets. ... Though if they play all night i might not get to sleep!
Not that i'd sleep much anyway. :p

Prodigy and Chemical Bros were only about a half hour each, just due to their style. BT and Tong each did an hour though, comprising the 2-hour Essential Mix, and I found both of their sets solid. Oakie played for an hour and a half I think, but I missed that one... already seen him a couple times anyway...

Heh, Kraftwerk's Tour de France from Coachella '04 just came up in iTunes. :D Someone recorded their set, and sent it to my brother (who has a radio show) who thusly sent it to me. It's pretty sweet.

I just went to see "He Is Legend"/"Spitfire" and "Hopesfall" last night. The opening band was a bunch of guys named Control that weren't very good -- or at least it was a bad show for them. Hopesfall picked up the show a little bit, but then it stayed at that level until He Is Legend closed. They took the stage and just kicked it's ass. I loved them. Weeeeeeee.

I saw Kraftwerk in Seattle at the Paramount last year. During a few parts of the gig the crowed raised their lighted up cell phones instead of the usual lighter :D It was just awesome.

And tonight I will be seeing Pretty Girls Make Graves here in Bellingham at the Nightlight.

Yeah, it would be great to see them live. Ah well, at least I have a set of theirs to enjoy listening to, thanks to another fan in the Forums here... ;) :D

Don't take this in any weird way, but the lead singer of Panic! is my cousin. And i say don't take it any weird way because everyone says "they are my best friends, cousins, neighbors, dog walker." He is actually my mothers brothers son. I know him very personally. I love their music too.

Swollen Members tomorrow night ... Ghostface (Wu-tang) and M-1 (Dead Prez) next month (and Lyrics Born as i mentioned earlier).

The two live shows i really really want to see this year:
1. Tool
2. Jamie Lidell (please, please tour the states Jamie!!!)
