A baffling booze that has been with me almost as long as my surname:

But when it's at it's best, there is nothing better than:

And a secondary nod to Carib....

Thanks!!! You did me no favours by reminding me of what a good drink that was! FWIW, I have started tracking down (InBev UK, subsidiary of InterBrew) why it is no longer on sale and, more importantly, how I can get hold of it again. I shall keep you informed of any progress.
Thanks again - NOT. :D

That was not a healthy horse.

Man, not while I'm drinking coffee... Not that I disagree mind you.

I can't believe I forgot about Yuengling -- it's amazing, and was definitely our beer of choice in college. They extended sales to New York State, and I'm patiently waiting for Yuengling to come to Connecticut.

They are slowly expanding. I heard they opened a second brewery (actually bought it) in Florida. Their strategy is to get incredible market saturation someplace and then slowly expand. If they are there then they are there. If not you can't find it.

Is that the same as Chimay Grand Reserve? 'Cause I love that stuff. Divine. :)

It might be the same as Grand Premier .... not sure, I always aim for the blue label. There is also red and blanc (white) ... Red is darn good too. Lot of folks like blanc as well.

I also like Shiner Bock for regular easy going beer ...

Has anyone tried the Australian beer by the same name?

If you can find any, hold onto it - that's stuff is worth an absolute fortune. Hundreds of dollars for a six pack on eBay.

Did a little search, it seems the Grande Reserve is the blue label stuff, Premiere is the red. I prefer the blue, but the red is good too. Never tried the white. I'll have to check it out.

Can't say I really care for Shiner Bock. Think I'd rather suck on a sweaty toe.

That's a Tassie Tiger - the extinct, but still oft sighted by drunken Taswegians, Thylacine. I think it was the largest marsupial carnivore.

And it's a very nice beer, Tassie beers are good.
Yeah, my bad. I knew it was tigers not devils, I was just a little sloppy last night.
Thanks for catching that though :D

Damn you, now I'm thirsty...

Ah, a beer thread! I like:

Shiner Bock
Abita
Negra Modelo
Boddington's
Heineken Dark
Corona w/ lime - if I'm drinking at the beach

I really want to try Stella Artois, but I haven't been able to find it in my area.

Well alright then, but you might want to keep up on your antibiotics, and if you ever get the urge to run the Belmont with a guy on your back, consult your doctor immediately.
Check and check

Remember, it's not a bear, it's a marsupial.
ARGH! Thanks for saying that; I hate it when people look at me like I'm insane when I say it's not a bear. :D

I don't know of any beers made in the US. Outside the US, I would say Guiness. I spose Guiness is sold in the US, so in some ways it counts to the thread. ;)

I've never been a huge Guiness fan, but I've had it in bottles in the U.S. and on the tap in the U.K. and can say without fear of contradiction that Guiness is bottles is not Guiness. It's the right color, but that's about all.

Since this thread has shifted to include non-U.S. brews, I'll add the most memorable beer I've had in the U.K.: Ind Coope's Burton Ale. An altogether serious beer.

Agreed 100000%.

Guinness is only good on-tap. Anything else is not worth the money.

I'd take a warm Pabst over a Guinness in the bottle..."rocket widget" or not.

I hate it too, some people are just plain stupid.

I have to add Maisels Weiss (spelling?) to the list - we had it at the restaurant where I worked at our skifields and me and the bartender got stuck into them one night when it was a bit quiet in the restaurant (for free of course, nobody else was buying them so we took it upon ourselves to deplete the stock - it wasn't the first of many, many drunk nights waiting tables in a 4 and a half star restaurant. My last night I drank 8 double vodka, lime and cranberries before I'd finished my shift and because it was a public holiday at the end of the season there wasn't much work to do and I was getting paid $38 an hour to get pissed. I miss that job...

Indeed, Guinness on tap, done by someone who knows what he's doing is the best beer ever. So Guinness is my vote.

But in bottles, ugh.

Guinness is actually decent coming out of a can though, for a strange reason.
