Picking up my Gold & Grey 64GB right now. Had to wait for activation...only about 10-15 min. Typing on my Grey 5S right now!

Just back from the Brooklyn store, simple process once I got to the counter but they made me go to the mobile section, not the usual pickup. They also made me activate in the store, which I didn't want to do. Reason is related to the upgrade, that if you activate outside the store, they can't tell. Not sure if it's true but it wasn't long, about 10 minutes once I got to the desk....

...but getting to the desk took an hour. Guy in front of me who also ordered online had a major issue and jammed everyone else up. Apparently he did is online order wrong, selected the wrong plan, and it caused a big issue. In any case, got the phone.

For those interested, they only had gray left, had a few silvers in stock early on, no gold. The verizon store downstairs in the mall was a zoo so I guess BB was the way to go today.

Just got a pickup ready email. Anyone else?

Seems like it was at 9 a.m. on the dot.

WOOO Just got the pickup confirmation for Emeryville, CA. Let's hope it goes smoothly from here.

Best Buy's community forums said in-store pickup orders were going to start being available at 12:01 EST last night.

Well that time came and went, and I gave up.

So I woke up this morning at 8AM and placed my order for pickup: A 32GB Blue iPhone 5c. Only available at one store in the area.

Dropped it on my Best Buy credit card. I'll end up getting a $10 reward zone certificate out of it, which is cool. More than I'd get by shopping elsewhere anyway.

I'm picking it up after work today.

For anyone that's been in a store today: How's the case selection? Anything for the 5c yet?

Just left Best Buy with my new 32GB Black iPhone 5s. Got there around 10 and didn't have to wait long

Just got the email saying my phone is ready for pickup. Fingers crossed it's still there after when I swing by after work.

Called my local BB and talked to someone in the mobile department. They are currently taking care of preorders and then will figure out how many are left for online pickup orders. I stated the website showed it was available for pickup today when I ordered and was again told they need to get their counts as soon as they finish preorders. They need to get their inventory straight before accepting online pickup orders.

Ordered a 64gb gold last night, still says "in process" i thought they open at 0800? im in SD btw.

Any westcoast guys get pick up emails yet?

I checked last night and I didn't see any San Diego Best Buys with 64GB gold in stock. La Jolla was the only one with gold and it was 32GB. As of last night (midnight-ish) there was no order option, it was all tagged as "Call Store" implying you had to just show up to buy it. Did that change?

Just received my pick up confirmation email out here in SoCal. Tried to use the link to schedule an appointment but as others are seeing it isn't working and shows a date of 9/23 and to call the store. I think I am going to take a chance and just walk in although I really don't want to activate the phone as I'm swapping phones/lines and was just looking to swap sims. Anyone have any luck just walking out without activation?

Also going to have them look at the discrepancy regarding the tax they are charging. I get that I have to paid the 9% tax on the full price of the phone, but it is more like the full price + $150.

Anyone in SoCal get their order confirmation yet? Mine still says confirming store inventory. Also, did Best Buy require you to activate even if you get the unsubsidized price?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I hope this is just an isolated situation. But hey, Best Buy has done worse ;)

I'm in so cal and got the email to pickup.

Please let us know if they'll let you swap SIMs rather than activating.

I got an email confirmation to pickup at West LA. They just called to tell me they didn't actually have the stock and cancelled the order. FURIOUS.

Guys: don't expect them to let you leave without activating. They were adamant in the store and I even checked with corporate.

The only way you're walking out without an activation is if you get extremely lucky and get a clueless Mobile rep. I'm sure they have been thoroughly coached on this launch.

Update

I'm sure y'all are riveted by my saga, so onward...

No e-mail yet. Called the store just now. They said I should be getting an e-mail saying that they don't have any in stock. Hoping to get some early next week.

What's annoying is that I can't cancel the order at this point, but he said that's probably just a system delay and that my card hasn't been charged.

So whatever. I'm off to hit the streets and see if I can rustle something up at another area store; if so, I'll cancel that order, and if not, I'll keep it and wait for the inevitable moment in a few weeks when Apple allows for store pickup and I get lucky--that's what happened for me on the iPhone 5 last year. :)

Well, what if I just give them the SIM I'm currently using?

Here in SoCal. Just got me "Ready to pick-up" email from the store in Montebello (32GB Space Gray).

Does anyone know if BB is doing trade-ins today?
